I honestly think Vitaly would win.
He is awkward, taller and longer with power.
Most importantly Lewis cant hurt him and he knew it. Lewis knew that if he cant hurt Vitaly, he will be in deep waters later in the fight.
Sanders was literally retired. He hadn't fought in a year & gained 10lbs in that short time frame up 225 to 235.
I'm not convinced Vitalis chin is all that. Wlad dispatched of Mercer real quick & he had one of the best chins in boxing. In terms of power I rank all the 90s guys behind this newer era.
You could be onto something. Wilder has more power than all of them. Fury could pose problems but he makes too many mistakes and would get KO'd. Verse Joshua it'd be a war, anyone could fall.
Klitschko would have won which is why Lewis retired instead of fighting him again.
If Lennox was confident that he could beat Vitali in the rematch, he would have taken that fight. He knew that it would be an uphill struggle to beat Klischko. He contemplated the rematch for 8 months or so before he decided to retire...that says a lot right there. The rematch was highly anticipated and it would have made Lennox a ton of money but he knew better than to get back in the ring with Klitschko.
Good points.
Yeah in a rematch I'd choose vitali. Prime vs Prime, it really depends. Because one shot could change it all. Close head to head battle.
- -Put it this way:
The purse woulda been bigger than Tyson.
Is there anyone, Sissyboy or not who wouldn't take that fight for 1/10th the Lewis purse?
I thought not!

I think vitali would stop lennox in the rematch and I think lennox knew it. Prime for prime I give an edge to Lennox as Vitali never had a real prime due to injuries, imo.
I would’ve confidently picked Vitali in a rematch. Prime Lennox probably wins by a close decision IMO
Lennox was in awful shape and still turned Klit's face into hamburger.
He would be better prepared for the rematch and would win in better fashion.
He was simply the much better fighter.
- -Lenny in 2 weeks pretraining camp with Manny in England a month before he started his 8 wk camp.
Vitali took the Lewis fight on 2 wk notice.
What grade you repeating this year?

- -Sanders was a very rare multi sport athlete as in a track sprinter, pro golfer, pro rugby player.
Must not understand S African fighters largely banned from international comp back then.
Brian Mitchell held a belt, so at least he could defend as long as it was in his opponent backyard.
You were once a baby, now retired, right?
Yeah!!!

I'm talking about Vitali. Sanders rocked him in the 1st round but being that Sanders was a retired golfer and badly out of shape he punched himself out right away.
Vitali didn't really fight any quality power punchers, ever.

How are you not convinced of Lewis' power when he dropped Rahman like a sack of cement????
I don't think Rahman was that good, Maskaev had already knocked him out of the ring (literally)
Lewis had power sure but I just seen too many guys eat flush bombs right on the chin, when I see Wilder, AJ, Wlad etc. Hit guys with those punches they go down. Lewis' power reminds me of Joe Joyce's, you can see there's power there but it doesn't have the effect of a Wilder
Rematch would have ended with Vitali having his eye cut open again. Lennox would have been targeting it all night and do to Vitali's stubborness to stand and trade instead of protecting that eye, would have yet again been his downfall.
Maybe. A possible scenario. Then again, Vitali might’ve landed a big shot and ended it early. You simply can’t make predictions like this with certainty. We all make predictions we feel pretty confident about, but I think these two were evenly matched enough that you simply can’t.
It was so good, wish they rematched
- -Lewieboy won a lucky break, the Ks won the war when they forced him into permanent retirement days before he was due to be stripped by WBC.
Did you know Lewie never defended his "partial" unified title once? He sold WBA/IBF to DKing!
Yeah!!!
It was so good, wish they rematched
Vitali would win the rematch.
Lewis was already moving past his prime the first time they fought, more so the next if they did. And mentally he didn’t want another war anymore...
while vitali was still very very hungry for his revenge... he was begging for it to happen again. He even talked to lewis’ mom for it.
Mentally and physically, it’s all heading to a vitali win imo.
Lennox Lewis was old and fat and shot. Vitali Klitschko was at his absolute peak, and totally underrated. A fat, old Lewis smashed a prime Vitali's face to ribbons. Deal with it. A prime Lewis would have got the KO.
Lol Can’t entirely disagree with this. Lennox was about to turn 38, and at the end of his career. Vitali is six years younger, so he was at his physical peak. I can only see Klitschko doing worse versus a prime Lewis. Even in a rematch, it’s anybody’s guess who might’ve won. People are so sure Vitali would’ve avenged the loss. It’s difficult enough to predict a winner, let alone one in such an evenly matched fight. And let’s not forget that Lennox avenged his only two losses. He tended to learn from prior experience.

That must be some bad azs baby deer.
You either don’t know much about baby deers or don’t know one Klitschko from another.

Vitali didn't really fight any quality power punchers, ever. The best hard hitters he fought were Chisora and Lewis and Lewis had him hanging on for dear life. I'm not even sold on Lewis' power either, not convinced he hits all that hard with the bombs I seen opponents take.
I don't think Lewis was prepared for the 1st fight. In the rematch he squeaks out a narrow decision in one helluva fight. I think Lennox knew what kind of torture he'd have to go through to properly prepare for this kind of fight and he just wasn't willing to do it.
