I read it differently awhile ago.. found the article:
While we were eating, Benton said, “Bobby, what's up with Foreman and Tyson, how come they're not fighting each other on the 16th? Isn't that the fight that King was trying to make?” He said, ” Georgie,You'll never believe this but, ****in' Tyson is scared **** less of Foreman and wants no part of him. I was there when Don was trying to make the fight. He was telling Tyson that Foreman represented huge money, plus he was old and slow and would be no problem. Tyson got up and screamed at King saying, 'I'm not fight in' that ****in' animal, if you love the mother****er so much, you fight him!'”
Goodman stated that Tyson said Foreman was much better than people thought, and was a dangerous fight for any of the top heavyweights. Goodman proceeded to explain how Tyson was calling Foreman a big con man, and explained that the grandpop act was just a front. He said Tyson saw Foreman as trying to set up the boxing world into thinking he was a pushover, knowing that he really wasn't. Tyson said Foreman was a wolf in sheep's clothing. Goodman continued to say that after seeing Tyson's response to King trying to push him into a fight with Foreman, he had no doubt that Tyson had fear of Foreman. He also said that from that point on, he felt that if Foreman and Tyson ever fought, Foreman would knock Tyson out!

He is just saying that to sound nice, he says a lot of BS like that. He used to say basically the same thing about Lennox during his fights while he was calling them on HBO, Lennox was the baddest man on the planet and the one guy he would never want to fight ect.
Foreman would have totally fought a 90s Tyson. His comeback was a serious one and he fought moorer, Holyfield, morrison, briggs.
He wasnt fighting Tyson pre jail because he was just starting his comeback in the late 80s and by his own admission fighting bums to build up his conditioning and getting back into it ect.
If you watch some of Foreman's 90s fights they are talking about the Tyson match up often. The rumors that Tyson didnt want that fight are probably true. The public demand for it was there that is for sure.
Good post. I remember when George made his comeback. I was startled to see how well he was doing. Forty seemed so old to me then. Lol And you’re right, he was serious. The fights and the results confirm that.
lol hes 70 years old and worth like $200 million or something in that range and still hawking new products
$300 million, according to celebritynetworth.
This would've been during Foreman's second title reign and after Tyson got out of jail. 1995-1997.
By then George was past 45. Tyson wasn’t prime either. I’m surprised to say I think it would’ve been an interesting fight. Tyson, before prison, was just too much.
Always heard it the other way.
Don't think George feared any man, except maybe when young, Liston.
Just saw the whole thing.
GF said Tyson was afraid of him and he was glad about that.
But he's so PC in what he says publicly.
And he made sure to have the product he's pushing cited at beginning and end of interview, a bit sleazy, ESPN.

How old was George during the period he’s referring to? Early forties? Of course he didn’t want any part of that buzzsaw. Lol Not saying prime Foreman would’ve beaten Tyson, but I’m not saying he wouldn’t have either.

For those looking for context, Foreman said Tyson was scared of him but he was okay with not fighting him because Tyson was insane and that made him nervous.
Lol end thread. Would of been another sad night for Tyson fans if the fight did happen.

We been knew this, Prime Mike Tyson with Cus D’Amato was simply unstoppable!
I think he would’ve retired undefeated!
Too much speed, too quick, too much power, focused, too much angles, too much head movement, attacked the body relentlessly and had the only man who could hone his capabilities mentally!
People say that a guy who’s not afraid of Tyson beats him but honestly that just makes the beating even worse for that person, it may go 12 but I guarantee that person won’t be the same!
