Those were the lgit caveman eras. All fighters in 1950 would get destroyed by the current crop of steroid enhanced super fighters; they have no chance. Even SRR would lose to a 147 floyd mayweather of today, even at 42 years old. :bottle::bottle:
you get how weight limits and cutting work right
i mean i think youre trolling but
wilder is a cruiserweight fighting at heavy
I ain't trolling; you are the one who is! Wilder is way too big for cruiserweight, if he could get down that low now to fight there, then he would. As of now; he is a bonafide HEAVYWEIGHT!
Wilder is like 200+ pounds; no way is he a cruiser. George Foreman would be yelling, "BOOOOMB SQUUUAAADDDD," after getting dropped by Wilder. Wilder is one of the best heavyweight of the lasts 50 years bar none. :blackeye::blackeye::blackeye:

40 something fat foreman gave many 90s heavies a run for their money.
shannon briggs needed a gift decision
They just underestimated that old version of george foreman. He was easy work when the young guns took him seriously.
you know wilder is basically a cruiserweight right

1970's Foreman would beat most heavyweights of any era, including today.

just lol, took the 1980s off and came back and became lineal again.
Foreman would get destroyed by the Wilders and Furies of today. The heavyweights of today are like 6"5 and far outweigh "big" george foreman. Foreman would have been a grill salesman years before he became a boxer if he fought today.

What a stupid thread. All the fundamentals that boxers work with and build on today come from the hard work and brilliant minds of yesteryear. Without them boxing wouldn't exist
Even as a hardcore Boxing fan, I dont care about the black and white era before the 30s..
I think Jack Johnson is a bum. He is like Deonte wilder of stone age. What is so great about that guy again? And if you havent see him live, opinions dont hold weight.
I laugh when I see dudes praising fighters from 1920s. Talking about em as if they lived through the era when infact they just heard stories from grandpas.
So yea I dont talk about fighters those eras because Im not thrilled watching them. I find it primitive and uninteresting.
Im about 1980s-present as well..
Grow up...
Tell me again how Panty Cruz with zero power and not much speed (hand or foot) would beat the everloving crap out of Pep (arguably the best feather of all time). Panty Cruz won't even fight Russell or Rigo but you want us to believe he beats the greats? Hero worship is okay I guess but you have to keep your feet on the ground.
The boxers of yesteryear had more skills and were battle tested. Less weight classes crowded better fighters into having to fight eachother before title fights. We have belt holders now who have never fought a top 10 opponent.
I think when you cut to the core of the argument the best fighters of an era could compete against the best of any era.
Courage and resilience has not changed in man for 1000s of years, education and skills have become better and training is more advanced so I agree the modern fighter, the modern athlete is faster stronger and has more endurance than years gone by, but if you took say Robinson or any other great champion and trained him by today's standards you will have a better version than what they were in their time which would equalize the differences.
Todays guys in a time warp would win not because they have more courage and determination but because they are more technically refined, train them the same and then they are equal.
Since boxing didnt exist b4 1980 then keep your mouth shut when discussing ATGs.
I can't take anyone serious who doesn't respect the history of boxing.
Like the new rappers comparing themselves to 90s Rap.
Yeh, if SRR were alive today; I'd love him to face the current crop of welters: Crawford, spence, and porter would WORK that old dude.
Not a chance in hell. I understand the heavyweight of today with the huge size advantage being better h2h but 147lbs is 147lbs. Robinson easily beats all of those fighters.
It's falling on deaf ears OP. Stating simple truths like Leo Santa Cruz would beat the ever living crap out of Willie Pep tend to fall on deaf ears around here because older boxing fans have soft spots for past time greats. Nostalgia runs deep on this website.
This is hilarious! Panty Cruz won't even fight the best feathers of today but magically he'd beat the crap out of arguably the best feathers of all time? GTFOH!
