It's only a matter of time before these trolls start saying that "Donaire EXPOSED Inoue" or "Monster is overrated". People put such high expectation on Inoue while ignoring the fact that Donaire, although past it, is still a dangerous opponent and he showed why he's a great fighter and future HOFer.
Monster answered a lot of question and showed what we haven't seen before. Inoue proved he has a chin, can still carry his power to the distance, has good stamina and composure, AND he can overcome adversity. Donaire came to win and not collect a paycheck and gave arguably one of his best performance against a fighter that was deemed invincible.
This was a great passing of the torch fight. Give props to BOTH fighters.
There's a point where every fighter, no matter how unstoppable they look, will face a tough customer and make them look ordinary and do a lot of work to win. Inoue showed tremendous skills, he just neds to tweak his defense just a bit.
Yep, you just can’t walk through all fighters at the top level. Nobody throughout boxing history has which is why even all the biggest KO artists have decision wins all over their records
One could say Wilder has only faced one genuine top level fighter in Fury and couldn’t stop him.
GGG was a wrecking ball until he stepped up
Then sometimes you just run into an experienced and determined fighter like Donaire today and they give you a tough night. Donaire may be past prime but you could argue Inoue hasn’t hit his prime, so it evens out
Nonito has been back on a tear at 118, he retired Ryan Burnett and took his WBA bantamweight title -- almost crippled him! The 'Monster' proved why he is worthy of his moniker, like OP stated, Inoue showed what you want to see in a elite champion.
Naoya passed all test since stepping up to his third division, the LEGEND-KILLER stuck again! Another HOF added to the top 2 P4P's record, whilst capturing the prestigious Muhammad Ali Trophy in a FOTY candidate, WOW! We are witnessing GREATNESS.
He has been vastly overrated, this is normal with power punchers. He nearly got beat by a shot Donaire. He's World class. Just not Elite, or P4P. Needs to fight better opposition and move through the weights to earn those titles.
Good post Will. These guys trying to pretend Donaire isn't 37 in one of the lightest weight classes in boxing. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what Donaire did so impressive since going back to 118.

I think his power got exposed you can end all talks about Inoue at Feather or super feather his power won't be there
Are you sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Donaire is just tough as f#cking nails? He could have ended Donaire that round but Donaire was just too much of a warrior.
I don't believe he'll carry his power up to FW or SFW. He should stay where he's at right now and become undisputed.
Suprised at how much Donaire rehydrated. He didnt look that big at the weigh in compared to fight night. Inoue should have used Canelita Tactics and put a weight clause in the fight.
