that is exactly what I am telling guys on the other thread
also... add in " punishing "
the exact same thing happened to Canelo's last 4 opponents... but, Kovalev old doe smh
these guys still have no idea why Golovkin " forgot " to work the body
Well,Kov is old! He’s 36 with some tough fights under his belt plus just recently came from a very tough round where he nearly got stopped!
A prime Kovalev would’ve beaten Canelo and likely knock him out!
But this is still an impressive feat for Canelo due to the fact he moved up 2 divisions with no catch weight or tune up in that weight class and fought the #2 champ/man at 175 and knocked him out!
It’s a helluva feather for Canelo who has the best resume in boxing and will go down as a legend when he hangs it up!
I thought Kov would knock him out but it seems he still didn’t fully recover from his last fight as he fought moreso to defend himself and not to necessarily get Canelo outta there knowing he won’t win a decision!
Props to Canelo though for proving me wrong and claiming the pound for pound number one spot! This win is better than what anyone has!
Beating Jacobs to unify majority of middleweight belts and knocking out Kovalev at 175 no catch weight makes him fighter of the year and a knockout of the year too!
Hopefully he fights a prime guy next year, Beterbiev, Bivol, Callum Smith, Saunders, Andrade or Mall Charlo!
Are you kidding me?
Golovkin could’ve fought Kovalev but instead let his loudmouth ignorant trainer Abel “Black fighters don’t sell” Sanchez talk big game that Golovkin couldn’t back up when it mattered!
People don’t understand that Canelo is so sharp with his counters and really smart that whenever Kov tried to open up strong he would get countered with 3 big shots to top an bottom!

His team should've fixed his alcohol problem long ago. I'm sure he's started realising the severe debilitating effect alcoholism and pro boxing combined have on the body. Absolute stupidity.
He got his big cheque so it's time to retire. He'll cop a devastating beatdown if he gets in the ring with Beterbiev.
It may not be too severe because it wouldn't be surprising if Kovalev was KO'd as soon as he gets caught from the first decent punch that Beterbiev throws.

Sad.
Oh well, I really enjoyed his prime.
His fights vs Pascal were just beautiful.
Golovkin could beat Kovalev if he outlasts him, which isn't a far-fetched idea. But he'll have the same problems that Canelo was having with Kovalev while Kovalev still has his stamina , in the early rounds. Also have to take into account that GGG isn't a spring chicken anymore also.
What a shame.
My dream years ago was Beterbiev vs Kovalev (killer instinct version)
:crying::crying:
I hate seeing elite fighters break down with age. It's so hard to watch.

GGG is Fantasy Fight P4P GOAT.
He wins all of them, 147-175. He also way past his prime every time he steps up. Truly amazing.
This.
GGG washes through Kovalev prime vs prime.
And I'd bet my money he'd beat Canelo too.. But I'm not sure Canelo is at his prime... something tells me he's going to get even better these next couple years and we all get to witness it :boxing::boxing:
This. How many fantasy fights has Golovkin had and won on this forum? Canelo is out here making history knocking out the #2 ranked LHW while GGG is fighting Szreremata...

Kovalev beats Golovkin and likely stops him
Golovkin is not sharp/punishing, and he has poor defence
he does not have Saul's head-movement/reflexes, and would be a much easier target
Plodkin would eat every jab, and start to pizza-face by about the 6th
when they fought, we all saw that Canelo is much more skilled/well-rounded than Golovkin... which is why he was about to beat the much larger Kovalev... Golovkin does not have any of those advantages
Yep. Kovalev has lost his punch resistance and has been eyeing retirement for a while now. There is no killer instinct left in him.
What a shame.

Why would I be talking about prime GGG? Current GGG versus current Kovalev?!
Right. Maybe Kovalev would throw with more conviction against GGG who shows little defence. I could see GGG winning while making it hard for himself as usual.
