Oleksandr Gvozdyk vs Artur Beterbiev
BETTING ODDS:
Gvozdyk: -120 Beterbiev: -100
Ways fighters can win:
Decision: WIDE or CLOSE
KO: EARLY (1-4), MID (5-8) or LATE (9-12)
Examples of the ways you can state your decision:
PICK EM CREW, Beterbiev, Dec, close x3
PICK EM CREW, Gvozdyk, KO, MID. x2
If no multiplier is specified in your pick (ie x2, x3) then it will be assumed that no multiplier is being used (x1)
If you wish to pick a Draw result, simply state your Username, both fighter names and DRAW, ie:
PICK EM CREW, Gvozdyk, Beterbiev. DRAW
If there is only one Pick Em on a thread it is acceptable to simply specify DRAW without the inclusion of the fighter names.
IMPORTANT NOTE: NONE OF THE WBSS FIGHTS CAN BE SCORED A DRAW - ONE FIGHTER WILL ALWAYS BE DECLARED A WINNER. ANY UNCORRECTED DRAW PICKS ON THE WBSS WILL BE WASTED.
NOTES:
-Picking the correct winner earns 20 pts
-Picking the correct method earns 10 pts
-Picking the correct detail is worth 10 pts
-Draws are worth 120 pts. A perfect pick without a multiplier is 40pts.
-CLOSE is <12 pts difference, or anything closer than 116-112 on all three scorecards. WIDE is >=12 pts difference, or anything equivalent to 116-112 on all three cards or wider.
-If you'd like to change your pick before the fight starts, post in this thread to do so. Ideally tag me so that I don't miss it.
-2X doubles your points and 3X triples your points. Everyone starts with 5 doubles and 3 triples to use throughout the year. If you forget how many you have left, check the leaderboard in the master thread.

Well, we all got our stories, man, but yeah, you could say that. Few fond memories I got of the stonefaced fucker are huddled around that shittty 14" B&W t.v with the coat hanger arial watching shit like Bruno vs Bugner and Barry McGuigan... it's maybe why I came back to the sport after he passed.
I hear you
You do know we are much more similar to our siblings than we make it out to be
What can I say , it is what it is
Lol
So as a youngster you didn’t have much of a life
Oh well , your not the only one

Traditional mountain folk, man, rigid moral code, honour and duty above all things...stoic (as you say NC), misogynists and not the most flexible of thinkers but definitely the guys you want on your side in a fight. My old man was a Greek dude from a similar sort of mountain background so I got a bit of an idea, ha... let's just say they ain't big believers in cosseting their sons.
But yeah - mock one of those dudes at your peril. Course it's gonna vary with the individual but you insult 'em they ain't gonna just forget... these are dudes who still carry blood feuds down generations, at least when they're in their homelands. You might recall the Khabib vs Connor incidents... Connor just didn't grasp the cultural difference cos like most of us he's used to operating in a society where we spout bullchit as a norm without consequence.
I'm not sure of course, but yeah, I could see Artur pushed too far and do some crazy ish like Khabib did, jumping into the audience if he saw one of his own under threat. If it was an opponent though more likely just to punish hell outta 'em in the ring. Sustain the beating.:lol1:

Agreed....Of topic sounds like we might have some possible fights about to be announced!
Gamboa vs Davis ?? That’ll also be damn good
I too have followed him, through his amateur days. Has a good pedigree. He has the power and will of a Bull, which he has always had. Technically I’m not overly impressed, he just carries his rough power style very well. Even watching him with his friend GSP, he’s very stoic in his personality. As you said in a way, it’s just a job, whereas I think if you put a fighter of say Tyson Fury’s persona in a match with him he would effin lose it! Just one man’s opinion my friend!
Never say never
I won’t state that it can’t happen or it will ( I’d be rich if I could ) but just stating that it would go against everything he believes in
He’s never been in the news for wrong reasons , never been seen in a club partying , just a family man
Just a very disciplined human being but anything can happen and I’d be fughin ignorant to say no
To be honest , I wouldn’t be surprised , takes much to surprise me
I’d be more surprised with a bad prediction than a boxer going sideways

Could be worse brother! At least you didn’t burn your last 3X on it and lose! It’s half full ✌🏼 yeah I know but I would have picked beterbiev for the stoppage but not my last 3x lol...so yeah I saved it mate 🙈

The guy has been boxing almost all his life
He’s a very loyal boxer meaning he’s all family until he’s scheduled to fight
It would have to take something over and I mean fughin over the top for him to lose it
I’ve been watching him since he came over the pond
The guy has always fought this rugged can’t stop me now boxing
Go in and get the job done and if he can push you around , he will
Very very disciplined fighter

I hear ya. Biev is a little rough when it comes to it. He takes the inch out of the rule book and stretches it damn near a mile. I believe if someone gets him out of his element he could fly off and catch a DQ or something of that nature.
Evidence in boxing?? Didn’t know that existed! Lol

I used to think Beterbiev was the man to watch out for @ LHW, until I saw Gvozdyk nearly kill Stevenson. Turns out, Artur is the beast he seemed to be from the start. I did notice something that I didn't like about him, but I digress without evidence.

I'll have a look at next months schedule this week and put up a 'Upcoming' thread for November, but obviously Kov - Canelo, Nonito and Inoue, Berchelt vs Sosa, Smith - Ryder, Wilder Ortiz... we'll be keeping busy, man.
I'm assuming there'll be a quality New Year's Eve card from Japan as usual to close the year out too, so it'll be game on til the very end of the year if all goes to plan.
Still deciding on this week - got a thread up asking for opinions. We got Regis vs Josh of course but then there's a few options, I'm thinking Burns vs Selby and either Chisora vs Price or (my preference) Okolie vs Ngabu just to stay on the same card, though of course there's some tasty fights in the US too.
If my opinion counts, I’d like to have Del Boy vs DP on there. That is a true crossroads fight, even though I feel like DP might be severely damaged goods. They’re both willing to battle w/o fail.
Can’t wait for Prograis vs JT. They looked like they may have kindred spirits after I watched the Gloves Off. It did seem as if RP was a little more unmoved, than Josh. Hell Josh looks like he might blow his wad before the fight. Anyhoo....
All Good! Makes me not feel so bad about that call! 😂
What’s the plan for the home run stretch? November and December? I notice we have a few high profile fights on the horizon....plans besides said fights????? Cheers Mate

:lol1: S'Okay man, you'll be pleased to know you didn't waste your last x3!..
...on account of you not having any left after I finally did the update. Unfortunately per the rules I'm gonna have to take an x2 instead though. Apologies brother.

OK gentlemen. Once again we were treated to a great fight this week, but a slightly surprising set of picks. Despite this being universally seen as a true pick 'em (even the bookies had it near as damn it even) the substantial majority of players went with Gvozdyk who was widely perceived as more skilled and proven if also more vulnerable.
Kudos to those few who chose not to follow the herd, and a special mention for the three who picked the late stoppage; Idunnoshet, Koolkc and 'Roll.
Well done gentlemen.:boxing:
