You are probably right. They will need him to look good again. I think they are going to hold the GGG/Canelo fight until 2020 once they see where the numbers are since that fight will definitely bring in the subscribers.
If no Canelo, maybe they make a unification fight with Andrade and then have the Jacobs and SD rematches.
Yeah good point...they have to have a back-up plan to try and recoup some of the money they paid GGG...I have been as high on GGG as anyone lol, but yeah he doesn't deserve even $5 million per fight unless it is vs Canelo, from what I can tell.
Hope we get continue to get some good fights in and around 160.
The bold: I thought that IBF trinket was vacant. No? Neither was or looked like a champ. It looked more like a cheap event and a lowly contested (skills wise) fight.
Lol I know we are on opposite ends of the spectrum on GGG, so I won't bite on the last comment ;)
But yes no formal champion in that fight...GGG was the 'A side' I suppose, as evidenced by the favorable judging...that is what I was mainly referring to with the 'champion-underdog' comment...just like how GGG was really the 'underdog' when he faced the 'champion' Canelo imo.
But after that performance by GGG - are they really going to want to risk him against anyone else before they (hopefully for them) get the Canelo fight?
Seems like DAZN is in a rock and a hard place unless they can make the Canelo-GGG 3 fight.

Based on performance - the underdog outperforming the champion - they should definitely run it back...I had it 6-6 to GGG but SD was the better man by a decent margin for me, and could have won an 8-4 type clear decision imo if he had a couple breaks go his way - the KD and cut in rounds 1 and 2 hurt him obviously.
I hope SD gets another shot..never saw his fight vs Jacobs so can't comment on that score/fight...but he deserves another good fight after this performance.
Problem is that DAZN just wanted this belt for GGG...and they clearly want the Canelo-GGG 3rd fight...that's why they paid GGG all that money...paying him and his opponents $20 million per fight is a losing deal against everyone but Canelo probably.
And after how shaky GGG looked vs SD, I can't imagine them wanting that fight again, or honestly any real tough fights for GGG unless and until the Canelo fight...it's just going to be weird how this all plays out.
Will they want to give GGG all light touches until Canelo - and risk paying GGG his $100 million or so for like no big fights? Or will they just go eff it and put him in with the best available selling fight besides Canelo and try and make some money that way?
If I had to pick...I would probably prefer GGG/Andrade or GGG/Canelo next...and then SD vs Charlo...would solve Charlo's problem of not having a good opponent.

DAZN may have to step in because if I am a DAZN exec right now the prospect of a card headlined by GGG v Szeremeta is not very good at all.

Unless they force the IBF mando down his throat or Canelo finds his balls, he damn well should. If not, it better be a damn competitive fight (Callum/Benavidez or the like)

I agree with this. This frees up Derevychenko and hopefully he gets a fight with Charlo as a reward for the GGG performance.

Yeah good posts...

No. Golovkin will fight Szeremeta.

I think Dervy did much better than Canelo did against GGG. I thought GGG beat Canelo twice but of course he got no third fight. I thought Dervy deserved a draw or possibly a very close win. I don't think GGG will rematch him and I doubt Canelo will ever fight Dervy. Dervy looked much better than he did against Jacobs and he just might be the best middleweight in the world today. I would pick Dervy to beat Canelo. Dervy goes to the body just as good as Canelo does. Canelo only threw 400 punches at Jacobs while Dervy threw 740 punches at GGG. That's a huge stamina and workrate advantage for Dervy over Canelo.
Nah Canelo’s hand speed would be the difference. He’d outbox Derevyanchenko and win a clear but competitive decision. GGG also seems to have declined whilst Canelo is still in his prime. I highly doubt Derevyanchenko would’ve had the same success against a prime GGG, and I highly doubt he’d have the same type of success against this version of Canelo.

Guy clearly deserves one as a lot of people think he won their fight, will he get his deserved rematch?
I think it’ll be Szeremeta to clear the IBF mandatory then Canelo 3 or Derevyanchenko 2. I do think GGG beat Derevyanchenko but it was a close fight so I’d be up for a rematch.
If GGG doesn’t rematch him next, then Charlo or Andrade should step up and finally fight a legitimate opponent at 160.
