Since when does your first dwi and speeding result in jail time even when there is a crash? Drink driving and reckless driving are considered to be a jailing offence in the U.K. ....especially at high speed in a built up populated area with video evidence to back up the charge. This is serious stuff he was involved in

When something is very public they may feel the need to give some jail time esp. if the parameters are too high.

Any punishment is minor compared to his injuries. He is lucky to be alive.

I was still ****ing up at 30. I didn't settle down until my 1st son was born. It took seeing and caring for that little guy to make me see life wasn't about me. Hopefully Spence comes out this with with a different view on life. And Spence has 2 children... so by that token he should be twice as smart. The way he is acting, he does not give a rat's ass about anyone beyond himself.

I agree that if you are caught drunk driving jail time should be mandatory, but there are no laws for it. And no one was harmed but himself. Imo more like 'reckless drunk driving' should get some jail time...but to be fair it is probably hard to distinguish between what is reckless and what isn't at the end of the day. Glad he will apparently be OK...I like Spence (not saying I am his number 1 biggest fan, but I have always liked him since I saw him at the Olympics in 2012) but I think part of me is just pissed at him for doing something so dumb like this, when he is on top right now, and had so much to lose. So yeah glad he is OK, and I hope in some way he gets a wake up call.

It may depend on how over-crowded the jails are where he is, and if some prosecutor wants to make a name for himself by insisting a celebrity do time and be made "an example." It doesn't seem likely to go after someone who already did a lot of damage to himself and paid the price in pain.

Leaving behind a lot of money for them should something happen is better than nothing, but all the money in the world can’t replace a father.

It doesn't matter if I do or don't drive, because I don't drink in either case. Good news/Bad news I guess then.

Dude driving 100+ mph drunk in a residential area and crashing like that...I mean I'm not a lawyer but I would be surprised if the average unconnected person didn't serve some time for that...I like Spence so not like I'm hating on him...I would say the same sh.it about my brother if he did something like that...really reckless not just to himself but to everyone else. I disagree on jail. Probation and community service seem more appropriate. If Spence, can walk away from this without career ending ramifications, then his star power can give him a platform to become a powerful role model and advocate against drinking and driving by highlighting his problems with alcohol and how he overcame them. I don't think jail will do Spence or anyone else any good, and it isn't required as I doubt he will ever put himself in such a situation. Let's see how Spence and his handlers deal with this because it can't be business as usual. I hope they proactively get in front of the situation and do something good. Getting a jail term will serve as a deterrent to others, others who would not be so fortunate and make kill themselves as well as others. Needs also a 5 year driving ban.
