Two quality fighter with styles that mesh and a lot on the line set up for a great fight. I see Golovkin as a level above SD. SD is a solid fighter but I think GGG does most things just a little better.
That said, if SD were to raise his game and defeat Golovkin or lose in a competitive FOTY war, it would set things up for a rematch or even a Ward-Gatti type trilogy.
I think it's a great fight and a good measuring stick to see where GGG is at now. If he struggles with Dervy or loses to him then he has slipped and is not the fighter he used to be. If he dominates and KOs Dervy then he is better than ever and the best middleweight in the world in my opinion. I thought GGG beat Canelo 8 rounds to 4 in the first fight and 7 rounds to 5 in the 2nd fight and will always remember those fights that way. Canelo has made it clear that he will never fight GGG again so all GGG can do is fight well against other good fighters like Dervy. I am hoping GGG will be a world middleweight champion again.
Agree that this fight should tell us a lot about GGG. SD showed he's a top guy against Jacobs, so a fight where GGG dominates will not be good news for the top MW's.
I wanted to see a trilogy fight with Alvarez but now I hope Golovkin moves on. Too many games being played by Alvarez and Oscar. There's enough good fights out there for GGG to add to his legacy before he retires without dealing with GBP and the diva.

Like we saw against Rolls, we'll see a re-emergence of the body attack that Golovkin used to be so good at. He'll break Derev down. Wouldn't be surprised to see a body KO.
If it's a FOTY candidate that goes to the scorecards, that would mean it would be a close fight, which means people will cry robbery regardless of who wins.
