Spence won and that’s not questionable. He is a great fighter who did what he did to bag the win but he looked way more damaged than Porter. His eyes, jaw and face altogether looked worse for wear.
Do you think he will recover from this? Will he ever be the same?
I don't think he actually took more damage, but he did react more poorly to taking shots than Porter did. A big part of showing resilience in boxing is having a good poker face and not flinching when you get hit, and while Porter probably got hit clean more he did a great job of shrugging it off and retaliating. Spence on the other hand tended to bend over or recoil a lot when he got caught and probably made the shots he was taking look worse than they actually were as a result. I don't think it's a matter of Porter hitting harder (Spence is arguably the much harder puncher) or Spence having a bad chin (AFAIK he's not been dropped or really badly hurt yet as a pro) but I do think it was a matter of Porter being more mentally prepared to get hit than Spence was.
I get more marked up shaving, it was a physical fight and both guys are dogs .
Errol won he will gain from that fight, victory heals the soul and repairs the mind.
it was a hard gritty fight it may take something out of him or it will make him address the kinks in his game and make him become more serious about his craft.... Porters footwork had him puzzled and it was had to adapt to not sure why people are saying he was exposed, he is just now establishing himself out of prospect mode and fighting the top in his division of course it will be harder and closer fights. great fight maybe fight of the year.
