Porter was there from opening bell till the end. Spence's power never gave him pause.
Spence's skills failed to put daylight between himself and Porter, and he was unable to stamp his authority. That knockdown was his saving grace which probably won him the fight
Thurman boxed Porter better than Spence did
Pacquiao fighting Spence doesn't look so crazy anymore.
The old man could pull it off. And Crawford is 50-50 fight now
Nah his ego was bleeding in my opinion. He thought there’s a huge gap between him and the porter’s of the world.. only to realize the same thing that happened to thurman, and brook happened to him too. And to be honest he got pounded more than the two tonight.
What is giving you that thought? I think Spence knows exactly who he is. If his ego waa to be hurt it would have been after the mikey fight.
When top guys fight each other, it usually goes on decision. The exception is heavyweight division. Other problem is, many of you believed Porter was some bum club fighter and Spence top elite creme de la creme. neither this is a true, they are pretty much on the same level.
I think most people thought he was the man at 147 coming into the fight. This fight showed he's not head and shoulders above the rest of the division. He couldn't do what Thurman did which is surprising because he's bigger and has more power than Keith. In a fight that could have gone either way
Yup he thought — and most fans including me (though i rooted for porter— that he was levels above the rest of the welters.. found out real quick early in the fight that he ain’t....that the gap ain’t far between and his ego is probably bleeding discovering that..
He believed his own hype before they happened.
So to not give thurman, garcia or old pacquiao a shot over him is stupid.. considering two among those guys handled porter well too
Porter did all he could
He made it a dog fight , made his fight
I think Spence won the fight , the knockdown probably was the sealer
But I don’t think he came close to dominating hence knocking Porter out
I think this fight will affect Spence as seen in the post fight press conference
He will be a target , no more suspense or fighters doubting their capabilities to beat him
We’ll see who his next fight is against
That will speak volumes imo
I remember Spence saying he wants Canelo. Canelo would murder and stop him inside pf 7
He needs to take care of WW before thinking about moving up to 154 let alone Canelo
Idk about all that. Well I mean I agree Errol won, but he didnt reallllllly beat Showtime Shawn so Im with you there. Although that was kinda because all Showtime Shawn had to do to beat Errol is win, while Errol had made his beating of Showtime Shawn about the KO. No KO means Errol didnt beat Showtime Shawn. And it is worth noting that Showtime Shawn LOOKED like the winner after the fight which is ultimately meaningless, but does say something about who beat who or who didnt beat who often times.
But I disagree with the overall take of this makes Errol lesser somehow. I think this version of Showtime Shawn we saw last night isnt 30-2-1 coming into the fight last night. Idk if hes 33-0 or not, but I think there is an argument he couldve been. I think Errol fought the best Showtime Shawn weve seen & it makes sense this was both guys biggest fight thus far. Its different at this level with this much attention with title holder vs title holder.
Shawn definitely rose to the occasion. You're right that might have been the best Shawn Porter we've seen. Errol didn't look like the convincing winner in there because he was fighting Porter's fight. I expected Spence to box and counter as Porter lunges in but he found a way inside and got his own shots off consistently without being hurt in the process, was not expecting that at all. A draw would have been a fair decision.
I think mentally spence is defeated as his expectations was too high and said it himself other than stoppage it’d be a disappointment.
Not only did he not stop porter, porter also managed to put in very good rounds and mauled him. And many times made him look bad than the other way around.
You can see it in his body language. He was trying to dance2 and look cool to convince us he fine and everything under control when it’s not...
the KD definitely gave way of separation.. had it not happen there’d be more complaints of robbery. The fight itself is close.. and if im one of the judges i would have given it to porter.

I think porter won. Even with the KD. And i totally have to disagree with your assessment of Spence being mentally defeated. His best rounds were the last rounds. I dont think this fight will bother him at all.
