No idea what the resellers are doing, but Staples Center has the whole building open, basically every section is cleared out, and the few sections with seats remaining have single digits rows left to sell.
This event is trending to be bigger than folks want to give it credit for
Spence choose Staples,he didn't want it at barcleys,he wanted to fight on the west coast,so if it bombs it's on him, these fighters like Spence and Wilder wannna try and fight in different places rather then the usual markets that always sell
I totally understand why. He wants to expand his brand. But damn man. If one fight says BK on it, this is it.
You can still get lower level seats all over the arena lol. It’s not like their super expensive either. Lower bowl for a little over a hundred right now the day before the fight.
Let’s not act like this is some huge fight. I’ll bet most people in LA don’t even know it’s happening. My buddies out there are more hyped for the Rams game and Lakers preseason starting soon.
To hear some folks here tell it, you wouldn't draw that conclusion lol.
I don’t believe they will get 200 000 buys though through ppv
That’s where I think Garcia made a difference in their fight
They didn't open up the entire arena. That's how it's scaled for under 20k. Most of the sections numbered above 300 will be closed off. There's still plenty of seats on AXS and they've had to drastically cut prices to pick up the pace. It's gotten to the point where it might be cheaper to attend the fight in person than to pay the PPV. The venue will not be packed, it will just look that way because it was scaled down and will have to lower prices even further to dump the remaining tickets.
I will gladly stick around but I wouldn't get my hopes up about seeing any official numbers any time soon. They have yet to release gate and attendance figures for the Munguia fight.
There are ticket for sale in the third level of the venue, so please shut the **** up; if they were scaling down the venue to the 12k-14k that you want to claim, why in the **** would you open up a third level that easily holds 5k-7k seats as is? Lol.
The California State Athletic Commission does a pretty good job of eventually showing gate receipts, in the formal tickets sold/comped.
Anyway, the fight is tomorrow; when they show the big panorama shot of the venue, and the whole building and all three levels of the venue look well covered with folks in their seats, I'd hope you'd have the gumption to show up and say "hey, I guess the event had far more actual interest than I actually thought".
But this event should sell out
I don’t see why it wouldn’t
You got two champs going at it in the main event , I certainly would hope it would sell out
Not a bad undercard to boot
To hear some folks here tell it, you wouldn't draw that conclusion lol.
It's more exposure for them. Nothing wrong with trying to sell out on the West Coast. He can go back to Barclays his next title fight and sell out no problem. Mikey Garcia made Spence a lot more famous now. Spence might put on a show for the Mexicanos, but don't count Porter out! WOOF WOOF! Lol, Can't Wait til Saturday!!
Brooklyn isn't as big of a market as it's made out to be. Thurman-Porter which was hailed as a massive success only generated $100k more at the gate than Fury-Wallin which was considered a flop. Tickets are usually dirt cheap and they give a lot of them away to get those big crowds. After so many shows they were getting diminishing returns and started going to other markets for big fights like Dallas, LA, Vegas.
Staples Center is a 20k-seat venue for boxing; if you honestly think that they "scaled for about 12k seats", yet still opened all three levels of the venue, you're bugging lol.
Again, I have no idea what any resellers are doing with their tickets but AXS is the official ticket vendor for the event, and the official tickets are about 95% gone.
There's going to be a lot of folks here quiet and playing dumb, when the venue is well packed on Saturday and the California commission report after the event shows that they sold well more than 8k tickets.
Hope you stick around

This fight should’ve been in Brooklyn where both Spence and porter are huge draws. Not sure if there’s a concert at Barclays this weekend. But this fight belonged out east. It would’ve sold out for sure.

Benavidez is a big draw here in LA.
I was watching the press conference yesterday wondering when he's going to get his own main event. Be the co headliner in 2 ppv fights is pretty big, but I want to see him headline on FOX.
You can still get floor seats for half price on StubHub. Only about a third of the upper deck will be open. A lot of the gray areas on the Staples Center diagram are sections where tickets were only available through resellers from the beginning or closed and reserved areas. The arena was only scaled for about 12k. At most 10k were publicly available. I think they will only sell 7 or 8k at most which is far from a sell out when you consider the total capacity.
