It is no secret that ESPN's push to certain fights/events has a solid impact on the type of numbers it will do. So with the UFC having their biggest PPV of the year or one of their biggest PPVs of the year, will they still give a solid push to Canelo vs Kovalev? Will they try to mainly ignore it so the attention will be on the Diaz/Masvidal? I think this is something worth paying attention to as the November 2nd date nears.
Why is TR even mentioned here?
Duva is Kovalev's promoter, not Arum.
What have I been missing?
Top Rank has points on a co-promotion deal they made with Duva last year. It’ll end up being a nice chunk of change for doing absolutely nothing.
Top Ranks gets a piece of Kovalev's purse but ESPN sure as **** won't promote the fight.

ZERO!
Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz will get most of their Promotion which is on the same night and that only make sense being that the UFC is with ESPN
Sorry but that UFC matchup will completely overshadow Canelo fight on that same night and more people will be watching and talking about Masvidal vs Diaz on social media
Canelo vs Kovalev Press Conference Views on Youtube in 1 Day 64K Views
Masvidal vs Diaz Press Conference Views on Youtube in Less than 24 Hours 644K on UFC Official youtube page and another 800K on TheMacLife youtube page :nonono:
But hey a lot of us Arrogant Boxing Fans will pretend like that fight is not a big deal and won't effect Canelo Event :dunno: but in reality, IT WILL!
They promote every Canelo fight because Canelo is currently the biggest star on the sport.
And even if they didn't promote it, everyone who was going to watch it while ESPN promoted it, will still watch because it is Canelo.
Why should I pay attention to it? I get DAZN and I will enjoy the fight live. ESPN probably won't promote it much but what difference would that make to me? ESPN will do whatever they will do and I have no control or influence over that and can't change it so why should I worry about it?
Why should YOU pay attention to it? Why should YOU worry about it? I mean you don't have to pay attention to it nor have to worry about it. You do whatever YOU want to do.

Oh, I don't the fight will get promotion on commercials and spots on other networks, because it will. I'm just specifically talking about ESPN. Damn near everyone tunes into ESPN everyday at some point, especially during the lead up of the big fights. They give a solid push to certain events/fights. Will they even cover the weigh in of Alvarez/Kovalev?
Have to wait and see. We're only entering the 3rd round of the war, only had a feeling out and a couple of minor skirmishes so far.
They won’t be running any commercials but they’ll cover the fight during the week leading up to it.
u just ****ing with my jew boy diz0k at that i thank you..
Sounds like theyre are expecting it, and going to be heavily promoting on NBC

I didn't even think of the TR angle here.
But yeah, a lot of different layers to this one. The UFC PPV being on the same day on ESPN+ makes this a totally different situation than we have seen before.

In addition to making a big marketing push in individual markets and digitally, Markowski said there will be a big ad buy on NBC’s Sunday Night Football going into the Triple G match in October, so DAZN commercials could be up there among the TV show promos you could get tired of over time. Asked about whether the Comcast announcement had anything to do with the Alvarez fight from Las Vegas going directly against a Nate Diaz-Jorge Masvidal UFC card on ESPN+ that night from New York, Markowski said that this is an agreement that goes beyond a specific night of scheduling.

This isn't really their event, they would probably leave that up to DAZN to do.
ESPN is the WORLDWIDE leader in sports. They promote all events regardless if they take place on ESPN or not. They had Mayweather/McGregor on their network every single day for the two month lead up of the fight. They promoted Canelo/GGG like crazy as well. Canelo brings a lot of traffic to the website and is obviously very popular. BUT, now they have the UFC deal, it is much different. Now they are competing for some of those viewers on November 2nd. Will Canelo/Kovalev get any air time on first take or the rest of the debate shows the week of the fight? Will be interesting to see.
