Who do you think is the best boxing promoter currently? Also, yeah Haymon isn’t officially considered a promoter & is called an “adviser” but we all know he runs the show at PBC.
Eddie Hearn -- he made the world forget about Khashoggi being murdered on orders from Saudi Arabia's fabulous crown prince, Mohammad bin Salman.
He has people forgetting about all the inequality and hypocrisy in Saudi Arabia. Or that it was Saudi guys who destroyed the World Trade Center. His Dad even claimed that having a fight there is going to encourage those oily sheiks to be nicer in the future. You know, once they enjoy the fun of a heavyweight brawl, they'll resist the fun of abusing women, burning churches, keeping out minorities, and roaming the globe committing debaucheries and paying their way out of jail.
Eddie dangled Fat Boy and Mr. Concussion and the Saudis drooled all over their sheets and put up the obscene money.
No, no, not a thrilla in Manilla, not a rumble in the jungle, not a fight in the Haymon - er, Cayman Islands. It's Saudi Arabia. No BDS on this one. Come on, vacation in Saudi Arabia and watch the fight, like you would if it was in Vegas or in London. Saudi Arabia is no different from the UK or USA and deserves tourist dollars.
Khashoggi's murder is old news. Nobody from RING magazine or the ESPN website is saying, "we're journalists and we are boycotting this fight because of what happened to one of our colleagues."
Unlike Don King, Eddie doesn't overplay himself. He stays composed. He always acts like he cares about the fighters. He's very good at what he does.
PBC is definitely putting on the best cards this year. It's not really close. Top Rank is probably doing the worst with Crawford and Fury being mishandled hard.
Honorable mention to Camille Estephan and Eye of the Tiger Management. PunchingGrace is showcasing a bunch of interesting prospects from eastern europe. They're being brought along perfectly. Sadriddin and Sabirov in particular.
