Manny Pacquiao's new opponent has confirmed that his fight with the Filipino boxing legend is already being negotiated.
The highly anticipated Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch now has another reason to be postponed. According to one of Pacquiao’s three possible next opponents Mikey Garcia, the Pacquiao vs. Garcia match is already under negotiations.
In a recent talk with FightHype.com, Team Garcia’s Peter Garcia confirmed that the fight with Pacquiao is already in talks. According to Peter, Mikey has been training extra hard for the fight and even his whole family is really rooting for a bout against the Filipino legend, Boxing News 24 noted.
“Whenever he doesn’t have a fight, he spars two times a week…but since two weeks ago, he’s been coming five times a week. My grandpa said, ‘He’s going to get a date soon. He doesn’t come on Tuesdays when he doesn’t have a fight coming up.’ It’s still in negotiations. It’s a fight that me, my dad and my grandpa like at welterweight,” said Peter about Pacquiao being a good fight for Mikey.
Shortly after Pacquiao defeated Keith Thurman, his long-time trainer Freddie Roach also had thoughts of Pacquiao vs. Garcia. In a brief media scrum, Roach said that he would “love” to see Pacquiao fighting Garcia and is confident that his fighter will “destroy” the younger Mexican boxer.
“Mikey Garcia is he out there? I love that fight, I like that fight for Manny,” Roach said.
“I think Manny destroys (Garcia),” Roach added.
With Pacquiao-Garcia reportedly being discussed, it will surely hinder the highly talked-about Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch. Prior to the negotiations, Floyd Mayweather was reportedly involved in another exhibition match in China.
Reports claimed that Mayweather will be holding a boxing match in China next year. According to a source, a press conference will make the announcement and they have already got the temporary approval of the Hainan government for the event.
The media invitation also noted that the match is a way of “enhancing” the existing friendship between U.S. and China.
“This match aims to enhance the friendship between two powerful nations through boxing, gaining popularity for Hainan in the role of an international tourism island and achieving Mission Hills’ vision of bringing world-class sports events to Haikou,” the media invitation said.
However, even though the match in China has taken a step closer to fruition, Mayweather still has to make it official on his part. “But everything needs to be confirmed with Floyd as well. The details are not 100 per cent confirmed yet. We are in the process of negotiating details with Mayweather’s management,” the spokesperson clarified.

That was reported after the Broner fight. I haven't heard any issues with his eye during or since the Thurman fight.
Roach has mentioned it recently I believe
Should be 140, Mikey didnt do WW too good in his first loss and in comes Manny from under the Spence TC skirts who talks he is a 135 pounder, gee there is always bs around Manny fights.
Why cant he just fight top guys without a asterisk.
You can't fight for the 147 WBA belt if it's at 140. Which is a different division.
142 or 143 will give Mikey some elbow room
a once super biased manny fan spills the truth about this fight being a tuneup
I second that. Pac at this stage don't need no tuneups. This is a tuneup fight that an old dog shouldn't take. Pac should only fight fights that will improve his legacy if not retire. He only have 2 fights left in his mileage in my opinion. That's how rational we Pacquiao fans are. Unlike you know who the other kind of fans hehe..
Well, I don't think this will happen. I hope not. Waste of time.
- -U beyond the dum scale.
Fight a rumor sorta like u still in possession of a mangled brain cell.
sure. but when its announced youll double down on stupid. ur not man enough to re-assess all the nonsense you thought before
you are pretty dumb to think mikey took two years away from boxing to avoid pac. i hope you man up and change your thinking when this fight is announced but youll probably double down on stupid.

Negotiations might include a catchweight at 143 or 142 to even out the odds.

If Mikey Garcia loses this fight then he should just retire. Given Mikey's youth, speed and stamina advantages; There is no reason why he should be losing a fight to a 41 year Pacman.
I don't now if Mikey is just doing a Money Grab before he retires or what, kinda strange that he is just looking for big fights that he really doesn't have much of a chance at winning like the Spence Jr fight and now this fight
I'm OK with this fight actually as long as they do it at 144. Look Pacquiao is a Legend, he earned the right to do WTF he wants and no not fighting Spence Jr (if he beats Porter of course which he has to do FIRST) won't even put a Dent into his career in anyway because he doesn't have Sh#t left to prove
HOWEVER if you don't want to fight please don't get in the way of Unification. I say Drop that WBA Belt and go make your big money fight with Mikey. While that WBA Belt should be put up for Spence Jr vs Crawford Next if they take care of business in their next fights of course. Lets see this highly anticipated match up finally for ALL THE BELTS!
Another great option to help build up more big fights at 147, how about Manny Drops the WBA and the WBA orders Danny Garcia vs Ugas, winner gets the WBA Strap and the opportunity for Unification with the winner of Spence vs Porter :dunno:
This fight would have been infinitely better sell if Mikey had got back in the ring this summer and got a tune-up in. No one wants to see Pacquiao fight someone coming off a loss at after that win over Thurman.
Should have done Garcia-DeMarco over the summer.
The plan is for Mikey to have a tune up fight before the end of 2019, then set up a fight with Pacquiao in 2020.
I see Pac winning a very uneventful UD against Garcia.
I agree. I don't think we will ever see the version of Pac who was going toe-to-toe in wars with other dangerous opponents. I would call this one a UD for Pac or possibly another robbery that gifts Mikey a decision. I don't see Mikey getting blasted out, he's a lot tougher (and bigger) than many fans give him credit.
