Im pretty sure I know why, they first payment is worth more than the actual jewerly is so its all good. Broner comes in, picks a piece that the jewerler quotes me at 150K but in reality that piece is only worth 30K. broner puts down a 50K down payments, and pays the rest with a check or whatever,. The jewerly already made him money back now the rest is all gravy. From the sounds of it though (this time) it was borrowed/rented jewelry that he didn’t return? I’m at work so I only skimmed the article. But you’re not wrong about custom jewelry. It’s why I’d rock a gold chain, but not some insane custom piece that’s 3x the amount of the gold.
