Good move for Tank. He still has yet to be challenged which in my opinion is not because he doesn’t want them, but his team is pacing him. Let’s not forget Tanks amateur record is amazing. He’s used to being the smaller fighter in the ring ALL THE TIME. Fighting another small fighter won’t be as hard as people are saying. I would even argue that if it wasn’t for Loma’s Olympic experience, Tank has had stiffer competition on this side of the world. It will show when they fight. Thanks for pointing out Tank's am experience...I didn't know about that but it makes sense...I have been higher on him than most I think (certainly more than most Loma 'fans')...and almost all of my faves/guys I think are the best were great amateurs...Lara, Rigo, Floyd, GGG, Loma, Spence etc...good post. I still would favor Loma to win that one vs Tank but Tank is certainly a live dog

;20033157']Ye i agree, Davis will prob fight Gamboa for the WBA Regular title, and i think Gamboa is the perfect fight for him to get attuned to the weight, Davis was outgrowing 130 and i expect 135lbs to be his optimal weight, also the Loma fight prolly wont happen until late 2020 @ the earliest, that will give Davis lots of time to get prepared and the fight will be hyped, im real excited about this, great move from Davis, if theres some1 that can beat Loma i believe its Davis, he has the goods to give Loma some troubles, as the ESPN commentators pointed out during the Campbell fight, Loma couldnt use all those creative angles he usually does vs orthodox fighters, and while Loma was dominant in victory he was open for counters especially from the southpaw left hand, and as we know, Davis has a very powerful left hand, sure Campbell used his reach and height pretty well, something that Davis doesnt have but Loma did look like he struggled against the fellow southpaw @ times, so Davis vs Loma is a real intriguing matchup imo It's a complete myth that Lomachenko struggles with southpaws. It's more accurate to say he struggles with southpaws who are long.

I'll agree with that. That is why tank is fighting Gamboa. He will earn mandatory with the goal of beating Lomachenko once and being undisputed. If Lomachenko dropdown in weight Tank will say Loma is ducking him. Win win for him. Nah he should just unify and then drop the titles for a one off Tank fight before moving down in weight. I hate the games and weak comp coming from Tank and his camp. Tank wants a legacy he needs to stop waiting and put in the work instead of waiting for fighters to get old while picking up lesser trinkets or being given titles against past prime fighters like Gamboa. Whats funny is they did the same thing to Broner. While he was at his peak they tried protecting him but it back fired against Maidana. Broner now takes on all comers and while he loses its much better than fighting nobodies and never testing yourself. Jleon was protected too and was partying like Mayweathers legacy was his. Jleon is on record saying he had to leave and get his because he was partying like he was already a great fighter. It softened him up but by the time he went out to get his he was past his prime and while he would of never been a ATG it stifled what he could of been. They aren't doing Tank any favors. Sucks that that's how it is today. Its not skill that determines your success but how good your PR is.

I'm not putting Loma down. You could see he is small in there and not at his best weight. I'm just saying that if weren't for the perceived vulnerabilities when fighting bigger guys and the huge upside to become lineal without doing the work mitigating the risk that I don't think Tank would take the fight. Lomachenko only looks like hes "struggling" when hes fighting guys with a huge reach/weight advantage. The reality though is that he isnt. Guy still dominated the likes of Linares/Pedraza/Campbell who themselves are the top fighters in the division and huge compared to himself. Yeah the fights were competitive but theres a huge difference between competitive and close. The fight was not close at all. Pedraza lost to tank because unlike when he fought Lomachenko he came to bang with Tank. Watch the fights and from the opening bell you could see a very obvious difference. Imo. Lomachenko takes tank pretty easily. Tank might have the power but lacks the other advantages people who "trouble" lomachenko have. Where Tank is weak is mentally. That will be his biggest weakness. Punchers chance at best. No chance to win by decision. Against tank Lomachenko would be fighting someone his size I'm not putting Loma down. Loma looking vulnerable at times definitely helps the chances of the fight getting made. I think Tank is going to wait until Loma unifies to gice it a crack. That way theres a huge upside that mitigates the risk involved. Tank is also fighting a lesser calibre of opponents which translates to less wear and tear. While Loma seems to be above fighting his natural weight and his body doesn't seem to be holding up as well. It could back fire on Tank though because a lesser caliber of opponent could also keep him from being as prepared as he could be. As they say iron sharpens iron.
