Lol What? He's beaten a still very tricky Bhop and should have a win over Ward. He definitely has the experience to deal with whatever Canelo brings.
Kovalev's size and length might be too much for Canelo. Would like to see it tho
He never beat SOG. But what I'm referring to is Canelos size, or lack of it. I've seen some taller fighters have major issues punching downwards at small targets. Canelo ain't more than about 5'7 & he's incredibly fast. Ward & Hopkins are much taller, bigger targets, I don't think he's ever fought someone as small as Canelo
Settle down, Kovalev isnt just gonna stand there and let 5'7 Canelo just walk in, come on man.
He isnt?? But, C-C--C-Currneerlo Urrrlvurrree--*melts into a hissing pile of goo*
There needs to be some sort of weight stipulation for Canelo to have a chance. Canelo would have to be very aggressive getting inside on him & risk a monster shot.
Maybe Canelo's lack of size could pose Sergey problems, punching such a small, speedy target can be very difficult & I don't think SK has that type of experience.

Lol no. Canelo has to get past Kovalev's lethal jab and and power shots.
Kovalev's boxing ability is still being underrated. His length, jab and power would be a nightmare for the smaller and shorter Canelo.

If Canelo wins but his victory is dependent on a handicap imposed on Kovalev, does that not make the victory hollow and meaningless?

And he had to weight restrict Jacobs. Would he still have won? Yeah probably, but it looks bad. I must be in the minority but I don't care for this fight. There's plenty of other guys to fight. I don't want to hear **** about nobody being a big enough name to entice him. Face the best guys in their prime or **** off. He doesn't have to face the best at 175 but enough with this jumping weight class "history making" bull****. Sucks because I used to like Canelo when he was on the come up. He's a great fighter, there's no doubting that, but there's too many things now that make me dislike how privileged he's become. And I've mentioned it before, but it is incredibly suspicious to me how he's suddenly able to hop around divisions so much.jacobs did not do the rehydration weight, he simply did not care about the restriction... you saw a full blown jacobs in the ring... to some degree im with you, i want canelo to clean 160(andrade,charlo, ggg again) before going up to 168 or 175, i think 175 is a one time thing , i hope so, he clearly doesnt belong there, at least now...
canelo just fought jacobs didnt he ?
he goes up 2 weight classes vs a champion with heavy hands who is capable of ko other light heavyweights with a jab but somehow canelo is the one cherrypicking here...
if this was canelo fighting a past prime MW then ill give you that, but he is going up 2 weight classes for this , even if kova is past prime...
canelo wouldnt go up for the other champs at 175 i agree on that, but why would he? none of the others have a name big enough to atract the face of boxing two divisions north...
do you think someone like pac or floyd would have gone to 160 for someone like billy joe saunders?, he wouldnt have done it for lara at 154, it just doesnt make sense at that level...

Maybe 2 years ago kovalev would have put a beating on Canelo. The version I’ve seen lately gets broken down by canelo’s body shots, either way I think it’s a great night of boxing for us fans.
How about he fights somebody who isn't past their prime? Got all these options and he's going for a guy who's clearly past his sell by date. I mean the guy is still drinking ffs (if he was being serious). Not only that, but he won't even get that long off before he's back in the gym, while Canelo is much fresher.

That’s the thing, he is literally going to kill Kovalev, I don’t see how he gets by Canelo. He wouldn’t be able to catch Canelo with anything, he would get tired quickly, he can’t take it to the body, he has had too many wars. He would be fighting a Canelo who would weight drain him and coming into his prime. I hope the payday is worth it.
