So who talked Derevyanchenko out of taking 5.5 mill?

Personally, I am glad Derevyanchenko priced himself out because I'd rather see Andrade versus Canelo anyway. Hopefully, Andrade pulls off the upset! He can do it. He has the ability. All he needs is the confidence and the will.

Because it doesn't go to purse bid. I just cant see GGG team saying yeah ok we will take 7 mill and give this kid 7 mill and earn 7 less than last fight for a tougher fight. You think that strap means that much to them or is it the lack of a decent opponent?

So say DAZN gave them both $7 mil to make the fight. Golden Boy has to make a profit and that $1.5 mil could make a difference. GGG doesn't have to pay a promoter. But why would Golovkin agree to take the same as Derevyanchanko and 7 million less than he made against a no hoper in Rolls. Makes no sense. Something doesn't add up to this guy getting 7 million for a GGG fight. I just find it too hard to believe honestly.

The total purse for the proposed Canelo fight was 35.5 mil. SD gets 5.5 or about 14-15%. Golovkin made $14 mil for his last fight. I think the idea is that SD goes into negotiations saying, hey we can force a 50-50, but we’ll take 7 mil. Assuming GGG gets the 14 mil he made last time, that’s 33% of the total purse. DAZN has now spent 21 million on a GGG fight instead of 14.5 million, but its for a title and advances their interest of Canelo-GGG 3 happening. Sure but if GGG team and DAZN say screw the IBF title, then Derevyanchenko fights the next guy in line after a purse bid which equates to nothing because the guy is some nobody. They're gambling for sure. By playing hardball, he was either going to get a shot at Canelo (big payday) or a shot at an aged GGG (another big payday, likely north of 5 mil) for the title. It was win-win. Easy decision.

I read that the offer for GGG was close to $7m. I think it was from rafael or coppinger on twitter. So ask yourself how ggg can give the opponent $7m but Canelo can't.
