FTR, I think Bud is a tremendously talented fighter and I actually consider him the #2 P4P fighter in the sport today.
However, I find it slightly contradictory when he’s throwing shade at PBC guys for not wanting to fight him, when:
-He was the guy who chose to resign with Arum in 2018, knowing full well that options would be limited.
-He was the guy who wanted to Pacquiao to come to 140 when that fight was discussed.
-He’s the guy likely fighting Kavaliauskas when Spence/Porter and Pacquiao/Thurman are fighting each other.
I think Crawford needs to understand that he needs the PBC fighters at 147 more than the PBC fighters need him, for instance if Spence doesn’t fight Crawford he could easily be matched with Porter, Pacquiao, Thurman, DSG etc, what alternative options are there for Crawford?
Why should it matter who any fighter signs to? It's their individual deals, their money. Don King and Bob Arum despised each other yet still broke bread and made fights.
Also, Why do people assume Bud would get this immaculate deal and or get every fight he wanted being under Al? How long has Spence waited for a Thurman fight that now makes no sense let alone people think he's getting a Manny fight????

Think about this, in a perfect World, the 2 guys who deserve "Manny Money" are both Crawford and Spence....but guess who's VERY likely landing the Manny Sweepstakes next.......

Cause he's DEFINITELY "earned it", right....?
“In a perfect world”. It’s not a perfect world... we all want to see Crawford matched with guys who can test him but in this current climate it seems unlikely because of the situation he finds/has put himself in.
PBC have over marinated fights in the past but they really have their finger on the pulse in the Welterweight division at the moment.
A little unfair saying DSG hasn’t earned it as well, are there fighters more deserving? Definitely. But Danny has earned his stripes, his resume is very impressive no one can deny that.

Crawford lacks to top names at WW. They were ready to gives us a fight against Collazo and because of public outrage we got a Khan ppv fight.
They simply don't do everything possible to secure an opponent. This has always been TR MO. His star fighters are fighting lower tier fighters and once in a while they will secure a real fight.
Crawford can have all the skills and could be the best fighter out there but we won't know until he gets in their with the names that matter.
By the way. Hasn't history shown us that networks and promoters have a hard time working with each other? I'm sick of this Crawford is being avoided talk then seeing him fight absolutely shyt opponentsThat's right. He knew damn well it would be like this and he could have gone with Haymon but he deliberately did not. Now he makes top dollar fighting guys like Khan while Spence fights champions.
i can see where ur coming from OP, but at the end of the day above everything i always felt it was silly that the promotional groups cant/dont want to work togetherIf Arum and Crawford are serious about fighting Spence then quit just talking about it and put a public offer to fight complete with the dollar amount and fight location on the table and let the fans decide if the offer is a fair one and who is avoiding who. This is about Spence vs Crawford. It's clear to most that they are the two best welterweights.

I think Crawford's team overestimated Bob Arum's promotional powers because of his reputation. Bob was able to convince them that with him and ESPN's so called megaphone effect is more than enough to tip the balance in their favor.
What they did not expect is Pacquiao's gravity, Bob thought Manny was all done, old, has been and just a fight away from being destroyed, and since Bob was not successful in passing the torch of Manny to his stable no matter how much he tried. Pacquiao effectively sealed and hit the nail in the coffin for Crawford's welterweight fate.
With the Re-emergence of Pacquiao. Haymon was able to create a Pacquiao Tournament inside his stable that will keep everyone busy for years to come. Best can already now fight the best inside the PBC stable because there is something far bigger to look forward to.
So Crawford's only choice right now is to finish his contract and sign immediately to PBC afterwards. The bad news is that, Time already took away years of his fighting prime. Still, there's a good news left, which is, he's still getting paid well while waiting.
good point and good post
bob missed it on pac here later in his career and it was pbc gain
bob reminds me of bill belichick slightly in a way...for as great as bob has been he has some misses...same with belichick in regards to in game and draft/free agent decisions.....the longer youre around you are going to make some mistakes
think back to bobs opinion on Floyd many years ago...didn't want to make the Oscar/Floyd fight when Floyd was still with TR because he thought hed lose money....bob was on record as saying that Floyd agreed to fight margarita provided bob guaranteed him 10 mil a apiece for future fights against cotto and hatton...bob said hed only do 7 or something like that....bob also didn't like the idea Floyd had to promote himself as a greedy villain...bob preferred the clean cut all American kid image......bob didn't have the foresight on that one......which made bob very bitter when Floyd left and became huge on his own
bob should have put Crawford and pac in there when he had the chance....
Bob is good if you are just starting out. Once Crawford's contract was up he had no business resigning with Top Rank. Bob has put his $3 million dollar a fight value on Crawford and Bob does just enough to try and make a profit off of that.
crawford definitely overrated. doesnt deserve top 5 p4p. nope. best win is still gamboa. wow.
I don't understand how anyone can defend this crap. That's a fact lol...
And what's worse is that people think all WW's are ducking Crawford. EVEN if all the WW's were calling him out, that doesn't mean Haymon and Arum will work together.
Why do we live in a world where a fighter is being shamed for not picking a different promotional company to get the fights he wants?
Everybody needs to come to the table and make a fight with Crawford. I don’t even understand it, a victory over him is the quickest path to superstardom.
guarantee this alt POS flying monkey was telling charlo to sign with DAZN to get the fights he wants doe

Crawford isn't dumb, he took the Top Rank route because he knew he'd be paid big for easy fights. It was a smart business move but extremely frustrating from a fan's standpoint.
FTR, I think Bud is a tremendously talented fighter and I actually consider him the #2 P4P fighter in the sport today
Nice man. I have him ranked #2 as well. Whos your number one then?
I find it hard being sympathetic towards Crawford as well.....But for other reasons. Like Arum said, why would Crawford be frustrated when he is making great money fight in and fight out? Dude made like 5-6M against Amir f'n Khan. He will make some good money against Mean Machine as well. If he's fine with how his career is going, and by all means he is, then that's good enough for me.
Hell of a fighter making top notch money. Good for him.
And he will still end up getting the Spence fight next year. So he pretty much gets to fight inferior competition for great money until getting THE fight that matters.
Bob Arum usually like his own shows. Theres never enough money. Back in the day Don king, Butch Lewis and Murad Muhammed made the matches boxing fans wanted to see.
Even if he just remained a free agent for a few fights, whilst maintaining a working relationship with Arum. Haymon knows he holds all the cards at 147, so the big fights are going to have to happen on Fox/Sho IMO, unless they become big enough for networks to collaborate which seems unlikely at this point. So true; Moreover if he really wants that Erroll Spence fight and the chance of becoming the undisputed champion of the world in his second consecutive weight class, then what better way for him to secure that other than fighting on the PBC?
It’s not about numbers to me and I think a Spence-Crawford would do very well.
I think if there’s a decisive winner, that fighter is going to be considered the best fighter P4P.
It would be a bigger win than anything Lomachenko has done and since the Canelo-GGG fights are controversial, it becomes a bigger win than Golovkin, no matter how it goes.
Why don’t they want that fight then? I’m just so disappointed in this generation of boxing because these guys don’t feel an urgency to take that throne. It’s insane to me.
Personally, there’s no fight in boxing I’d like to see more...
It’d be huge to most of us on here as we’re die hard boxing fans but in a broader context it’s not a fight that’s going to generate the kind of money to force promoters, networks to collaborate.
For this fight to become realistic Crawford is going to have to “cross the street” or sadly he’ll continue to be frozen out.
No doubt! I believe his contract is up in 2020. So let's see will he sign with the PBC or re-up with Top Rank. If he does resign with Top Rank then he is a damn fool!
