it seems like his bread and butter straight left, he's throwing it less and less now. is it because he's declining and doesnt/cant pull the trigger? i havent seen him throw that straight left in a while. he didnt it against lucas a few times but i didnt see it against broner and yesterday night against thurman, he didnt throw that punch at all. was it because thurman was too tall or the reach was too far out? what happen to that famous lean to the side and throw the left straight down the pipe?
Pacquiao hasn’t thrown that straight left he used to fuk everyone up with for awhile, it started with the ko from Marquez. It has seemed to have become even more absent as of late. Maybe he feels his legs arent as fast to close that same distance with his backhand? That left used to be a heatseeker that could follow fighters moving back e.g. barrera, marquez.
I think opponents are wary of the straight left, they train to defend it in training camp
yeah but it's not like he tried it against thurman but got counter so he stopped throwing it. he didnt even make any attempt to throw it. it's like he forget all about it. that straight left was always something nice to see.
The straight left is what damaged Thurman's nose. Although the right hook was more effective in the fight, I agree Pac should have thrown the left more.
Thurman isn't that much taller nor rangier than manny
yeah, i see that, but i meant more like the distance, the way thurman position himself, was it because it was too far out of range for manny to throw it? he didnt throw that left at all. didnt even make an attempt.
I feel like he can't pull the trigger anymore.
But his hook was key to beating Thurman.
Always.
it's like he fell in love with the right hook and forgot all about his straight left... he uses the right hook a lot more in his fights to counter off his opponent's jab.

It a punch that come from a long way away, so it relies on speed and reactions.
Both have declined a lot over the years for Pacquiao.
But a 60% Pacquiao can adapt and is still a world class fighter.
