During the mid rounds pacquiao landed a hard body shot on thurman and had him hurt the commentators thought it was a headbutt. WTF? These guys were horrible! they should be fired. They've been horrible forever.
The Gox commentary is the worse and it not because of any of the reasons mentioned
It’s becAuse they give the most biased view for the A-Side fighter and don’t give a honest account of the fight
I thought Thurman did enough to win a close fight because of the KD but they were acting like PAC was pitching a shutout. Just like the Hurd / J-roc fight . J-Roc literally beats the brakes off Hurd the whole fight and Goosen at the end acting like it could go either way.
The funny thing was when one of them brought up "body language" after the punch but never finished the thought.
Thurman was obviously favoring one side of his body and about to crumble to the mat.
Gee, I wonder what could've caused that?
Been a fan of Lewis as a fighter my whole adult life, but he sucks ass as a commentator, same as Ray Leonard. There are a lot better former and even current fighters for that job.
That's why HBO fired Lewis from commentary.
Everyone on the cast came out with some kind of nonsense or another. That's kind of par for the course though, actually good commentary is depressingly rare these days. Just another reason that HBO bowing out was bad news.
The commentary and production value was awful. Odd camera angles, missing important punches, going to the desk during the fight, showing family members during the rd and shrinking the main screen of the fight to show relatives, not listening in and showing the corners between rds. Not changing cameras when the ref was blocking the view of the fighters.
People can hate HBO for many reasons but they had first rate production values.
It was really bad that they didn’t or couldn’t see that it was a body shot, the fact that they refuse to acknowledge it or went with the headbutt theory was laughable. But to be honest most commentators are network biased.
I was laughing at how bad it was. Especially when they were saying that the way to beat Pacquiao has always been to walk towards him and back him up :lol1:
I heard that and thought wtf??? Are they old or just incompetent?
And Lewis was terrible last night, I wasn't sure if he was speaking English or something else.

I also didn't like the commentary, but it's not just on fox, it's everywhere in the sport these days. The only decent one still is the showtime team. But the rest are all whack tbh. Inexperienced commentators who have no idea how turn the fight into a story and how to do basic blow by blow to let the fans know what's happening and to keep them interested.
