Is DAZN destroying boxing?

All I know is? That the production and quality of HBO/SHOWTIME and Sky sports is of a greater quality. Of course yes, these new type internet streaming platforms are just a new way to move with the times and promote the sport 'But just seems to lost its prestige abit' The big broadcasters still cover sports better than these internet platforms or whatever they are 'Not even sure what they are, I am not subscribed'.

It's driving me crazy when I see Hearn making these gargantuan offers to pathetic boxing clowns (PBC) whose only rep is to line up bums getting paid $1-2 million. This needs to stop. It's like rewarding undeserving clowns.

DAZN needs to put a stop in putting all their eggs in one basket. You can blame Hearn for this stupidity, ie, Brook/Khan, Wilder/Joshua, etc. They end up spending astronomical sums of money and giving it all up in one basket. They need to take a page out of Arum's playbook by presenting at least 3 choices for their fighters. Duboeff sent offers to Danny Garcia for the Crawford fight, for example. Garcia wanted no part of Crawford as we found out. TR moved on, everyone move on.

DAZN limiting a fighters options to only two opponents, gives the oppontents the leverage to ask for more because they know the fighter has no other options. If there is no limiting of opponents then the fighter has the leverage to find the opponent who is willing to get paid market value. Yeah, Hearn has been around in the business for a long time, yet he still doesn't seem to do well in negotiations. Arum always had 2nd, 3rd choices to keep the 1st choice from getting too greedy. It's needs to be a take it or leave it proposition, hook line and sinker.

Yeah, I think so. How many fighters refused to fight for $1-2 million not involving DAZN? Ortiz wanted $10 million. Is he demanding that kind of money in the Wilder 2 fight? No. Wilder turned down $15 million when he's only averaging $1.2 mil in his last 4 fights after the Ortiz fight. Even guys casuals never heard of like Derevyanchenko can't be satisfied with $5.5 million. When in the past you gotta have a name to demand that kind of money, in other words, you're contributing something to the table. Corrupt organizations like the WBC (and the other alphabets) are what make boxing a joke and a fringe sport in the US. Decisions like the WBC making Alvarez a "Franchise Champ" are terrible for the sport. Imagine if the NBA made Lebron James a "Franchise Champ"? What a joke! How can the WBC, which is supposed to make the rules, have a business relationship with Avarez? Sure, DAZN has too much influence but so did HBO, Showtime and other promoters but they have that influence because the boxing orgs are corrupt, greedy and not accountable to anyone.

well if DAZN is sending an offer it's obvious Charlo has to cross the street. Crossing the street doesn't mean the fighter is permanently removed from his previous hosting, Showtime. A single or multi-fight deal is no different than previous PBC fighters having fought elsewhere only to return back to their normal location. The point of exclusivity is to grow or maintain retention for a certain network. We don't know how Espinoza and Haymon roll behind closed doors. It could very well be that Espinoza tells Haymon that if Wilder were to fight on another platform then they'd reevaluate agreements. As usual, platform Wars. The point doe is fans need to know who wants the fight. DAZN needs to specify who they have in mind for Charlo, for example. Stop this two-fight deals like the Breazeale/AJ for Wilder nonsense. Even that takes time, possibly a year, which makes PBC fighters homesick. Do one fight at a time. Fans can't accuse fighters of ducking until offers are officially made. If Golovkin doesn't want it, then publicize the negotiations, how it went, and start shaming the guy.

Charlo can't fight the Jack Adams of the sport forever. He's the most perfect candidate for DAZN to lure. He can pick from a remarkably good list of fighters like Golovkin, Jacobs, Andrade, forget Canelo. DAZN needs to send the offer NOW, ASAP.
