ANTHONY JOSHUA's shock defeat by Andy Ruiz Jr could have been a result of inadequate sparring, according to David Haye. Joshua was an overwhelming favourite to keep hold of his three recognised world heavyweight titles on his stateside debut at Madison Square Garden. Yet it quickly became evident that Ruiz was not reading from the same script when, after being floored himself in the third round, the Mexican rose from the canvas to put AJ down twice and set the wheels in motion for one of the greatest upsets in boxing history. Lol, I saw him sucking in that stomach too. His dad said he trained really hard, so I'm not too surprised he did what he did with a fathers influence, and with my take on how I've always felt about Joshuas robotic style
Since I saw Ruiz dismantle the 1st robot on FOX, I really didnt give him too much credit, but when I went on youtube to check for a more meaningful win from him, I was surprised when I saw him give Parker the business in a competitive matchup.
Imo, Joshua can beat Ruiz if he loses some weight and fights tall. Ruiz can't "leap" like a young Tyson with all that Snicker weight to catch Joshua if he fights tall....especially if Ruiz stays on his junk food diet gaining weight....he must not be eating right if he looks like Mr. Carbohydrate with all that excess fat on his frame....time will tell, but "if he weighs a lot more than the 1st fight" he's gonna go into a diabetic coma....in other words, its not a good idea for Ruiz if Joshua fights smarter and more disciplined....
I think ur exactly right. I don’t try to judge a guys skills, speed, power, stamina based on his physique. I’ve seen all types. But I will judge a guy compared to what he looked like last time. I’d love to see fighters get their body fat tested each fight. I just hate the “in case he leans on me” answer to have added weight. It’s like a running joke. U said it, if Ruiz comes in heavier it will look bad. If he loses it will affect his reputation even if it’s close, cause we will assume he coulda been better. I don’t know if AJ can fight tall? But I hear yeah there was mere seconds between Ruiz KD and AJ KD so who knows how differently it would have been? We will see. AJ needs to be hyper aware in there. Prolly fight safe and boring. Will be interesting if he hurts Ruiz.
Right. I knew little of Ruiz since I didn’t see the Parker fight. My brother said he will do a lot better than people expect. When Ruiz came in heavy and explained that it was on purpose in case AJ leaned on him, I thought it was an excuse I heard too many times. He was also sucking in his stomach at the weigh in. Maybe he did train hard as hell or maybe he didn’t even have to? If he weighs a lot more than the first fight, I wonder what he will say? Will only matter if he loses though.

Neither did ruiz. Ruiz was sitting on his ass eating snickers and doritos while Joshua was in camp preparing and conditioning his body for a fight with a chemist pumping his ass full of best "supplements" and "nutrition" that money can buy.
Hmmm, not a bad comment from Haye, I was expecting some other self serving WACK EXCUSES to cover for his fellow countrymans loss. His comment was pretty insightful. I also contribute the loss to Joshua not having sparring partners remotely close to Ruiz style & height in camp. Joshua had some unexpected troubles with Takam because he was preparing for Pulev with both camps having just 12 days notice to prepare for each others styles,
A full "camp" is important for many reasons and calling out Ortiz on such short notice and especially Takam with the 12 days - not knowing if their team was fully ready/committed conditioning wise - was advantageous. Ruiz, they thought, had to be at the buffet 24/7 after winning against Dimitrenko, "theyres no way this guy (looking like that) could be that committed during the off season."
Ruiz couldve been in mexico on the beach, vacationing enjoying his win - saying "yes" to Hearn simply for the payday. Hearns ploy backfired & came full circle when they decided on sticking with Snicker Man. When Team-Hearn saw the excess "fat" on Ruizs frame, they were like, "yes! he's bloody perfect, he can box, we'll pick this chap, he's only lost once, and should gas out in 4/5 rnds against Joshuas fast pace and power!" :439:

Late replacement, probably took the sting out of AJ's preparations and the team underestimated Ruiz a little bit. I've said as well a few times that he was out partying with my brothers friend in Miami.
Even with all this being said, Ruiz caught AJ with a shot countering him that had AJ out from that point. Doesn't matter what happened before then. AJ went to finish when his man was still a live body in there.
Joshua's ability was far, far over-hyped since he was gifted the Olympic Gold.
The reality is that Joshua's only real ability lies in his physicality - his boxing is average at best, his conditioning below average and his heart / commitment below average.
Ruiz, on the other hand is highly skilled, has very decent conditioning and always prepares for war.
Joshua is soft, privilaged and not a very good Champion at all - Eddie Hearn basically bought the IBF belt from bum Charles Martin and Joshua did perform well to win the WBO and WBA straps from Klitschko, but since then he had done nothing of note at all.
First live dog he fights since Klit beats him all over the ring, knocks him down 3 times until he quit.
So many excuses. Isn't part of being a great champion being able to adapt and deal with adversity?
I'm not saying Ruiz isn't good but AJ had no fight left in him after the second KD and he wasn't particularly hurt either.
Remember Ali getting pissed off at Wepner or Holmes fighting back after Shavers nearly took his head off? Where was AJ's championship pride, his will to win and fire...all I saw on his face that night was resignation and worry.
Haye was spot on about the amateur experience of Ruiz. Pedigree is what it is. Though Joshua from a good pedigree too. I said this to my friend some years ago that Joshua kinda has a chin like Khan. Sounds crazy but now is early “Khan chin” years for Joshua but down the road I see a lot of KDs and KOs on Joshua. He gets rocked almost every fight. I know everybody gets rocked but he always looks like its a chance to KD him.
None of the heavyweight have top level durability 'None of the big 3 anyway'. But Johsua's punch resistance is good enough. 'If he gets knocked down, he gets back up' that is always a good sign.
Fury has been knocked down and hurt routinely throughout his career, by none punching cruiser weights like Steve 'USS' Cunningham also. Wilder also get hurts all the time also, but he is game they are all very game fighters when the going gets tough. 'This is what Max Kellermen was referring to, when he was speaking here'.
People are unnerved by Joshua's reaction to his loss, the rematch will be won and lost in preparation. Is Ruiz Junior going to fold to the pressure of media, who keep speaking about his conditioning? Is he going to be duped and worry about his weight? If he does he will prepare incorrectly. 'Joshua needs to fight like he did vs Povetkin'.
Great fight, this is a exciting new Chapter in Anthony Joshua's career and saga in the heavyweight division.

It is believe it or not. Did I say something wrong or is it the spellcheck?
It's just me being an asshat if I'm honest. Although the "ha ye" and "met match" parts are hilarious to read.

Stop it with the excuses already, some idiots even went as far as making a conspiracy theory as to why Joshua lost, enough..Andy Ruiz beat him and was the better man
they talk about joshua allegdly getting knocked out by a 5'10" inch fat guy like it's a good thing :lol1:.
buddy, if joey dawejko really knocked out your hero you have a much, much bigger problem than losing your world title. andy ruiz is, uhh, better than joey dawejko.
