I don't favor either one but I don't get all the GGG hate from Canelo fanbois.
If you call GGG a hypejob, punk ass, weak fighter, tomato can etc. you have to remember that Canelo couldn't beat GGG confidently enough to get a sure W and demonstrate the boxing world that he is levels above Golovkin.
We can argue all we want about who won which fight of the first two, but the truth is that both fights were extremely close. So if you call GGG a hypejob, Canelo is no different.
Not even close. Golovkin is a 1 trick pony, Canelo can fight numerous ways. Which he showed in the Golovkin fights. Canelo is just a better fight, it's undeniable.
What’s any of that worth if he couldn’t even convincingly beat a 36yr old “one trick pony”? They proved over 24 rounds that there wasn’t much between a prime canelo and a past prime ggg. I mean, if it was that close, you’d have to favour ggg prime vs prime.
Maybe. But that could be down to Canelo actually taking tough fights. Instead of sitting cherry picking bums like Golovkin did.
Or he could be even better. No one brings up age when Floyd schooled Canelo... maybe Canelo also ages better and smokes old GGG with experience.
Neither side was willing to budge? What was GGG supposed to budge on? How long had he already waited for his mandatory shot and how many times did Canelo promise to fight him next, then break his word?
Why had Canelo never fought at 160 before? He was the WBC 160lb champion and GGG agreed to allow him a voluntary to acclimatize to the weight. What did your brave Mexican warrior do then? He dragged Amir Khan up to 155 for a weight bullying money grab .. then asked GGG to allow him yet another interim fight!
When GGG told him enough was enough, Canelo surrendered his belt then claimed he didn't want to fight for it again because the WBC was corrupt!
They are corrupt, of course, but as long as Canelo benefits from their corruption, he is more than happy to collude with it. when did canelo asked ggg for ****t ??? or when did he made a promise of a fight?
i might be wrong but i dont recall neither happening at all...
i remember canelo saying he was wlling to fight ggg at 155 right after he fought kirkland, and also said he was willing to fight him after the khan fight, but those are far from promises, and never had to ask gggs permision to fight anyone else... cotto did, but thats not canelo... wbc making promises to ggg is a different story... if prime ggg wanted to fight canelo he could have gone a few pounds south to make it happen, but he was never going to do it for someone like canelo...
ggg said anyone from 154 to 168, his own promoter said they will make the fight at a CW if canelo vacated, neither happened, but only canelos words should be taken as promisses, ggg gets a pass as usual...
canelos team decided he wasnt ready to fight at a weight he never fought before and under mandatory($$$) circunstances...
call it how you want but neither side was willing to budge and the fight didnt happen, besides they are almost a decade apart so prime for prime will always be a fantasy match between those two... ggg can add all the fantasy matches to his list while canelo keeps adding names to his real resume...
by the way, did ggg disgraced him self when he lost the belt for avoiding dervyachenko ?

You gotta give Alvarez credit.
That boy got no fear of challenging champs at any weight.
He fought the great MW Cotto, the outstanding Jr MW Smith and the legendary Rocky Fielding and collected all their titles.
No wonder the boy claims fear died when he was born.
Th guy that has taken risks and fought better comp has the smaller balls? Righto. :dunce:
his only ballsy and risky move was Floyd Mayweather who made an amateur out of him
Golovkin on the slide demonstrated he was at least on a level with Canelo on the rise and possibly in his prime. In general I rate a fighters' prime years at MW as between about 28 and 32 however so it's not unreasonable to make the case that Canelo is possibly still improving... I am of the opinion that a 32 or 33 year old Golovkin would have done better than the 35 or 36 year old version did however.
Arguments over their respective resumes tend to rest on the assumption that all fighters enjoy the same opportunities, regardless of country of origin, strength of promotional team, backing of sanctioning bodies, age of professional debut and so on... a good resume can prove that a fighter is good, but lack of a good resume does not prove that a fighter isn't as good H2H.
Have you heard of styles make fights? GGG vs Canelo is a good stylistic match up. That being said, Canelo overall can do more and has a larger range of skills than GGG. GGG has one thing he can do that's it...he can't adjust and falls short of looking great anytime he fights anyone with a pulse. Canelo has fought many top contenders with multiple styles and came out on top where GGG has fought 2 people worth anything, and is 1-1-1.
Yes I have. If Canelo overall can do more and has a larger range of skills, how come he couldn't adjust well to GGG's simply seek-and-destroy style for 24 rounds? Golovkin didn't need a larger set of skills throughout his career because it has worked for him just fine. Maybe he could have used some better defense at times but didn't really need it. He has a proven granite chin and powerful punches.
Canelo didn't demonstrate anything outstanding against his top opponents so there is no reason to make that claim
True! A slightly over-the-hill Golovkin and prime Canelo are very close. That truth is plain to see and yet the Golovkin haters deny what they know to be true.
They might be on the same level but at least Canelo tries to prove himself against legit opponents, e.g. Lara, Trout, Jacobs etc. Even though it may not suit him stylistically those matchups. GGG fights nobody and keeps crying wanting to have a rematch.Canelo fought Jacobs. Wow, that is impressive. To bad GGG never fought a tough guy like Jacobs. Canelo has close disputed wins over Lara and Trout. GGG has knock out wins over Lemieux, Macklin and Murray who would all beat Lara and Trout. Canelo won his first title at a catchweight over Haton's lousy brother. He also fought mediocre washed up Angulo and Kirkland, 40 year old Mosley and glass jawed welterweight Khan, welterweight Lopez and lots of other mediocre smaller fighters. You make sound like only GGG fights an easy guy now and then while Canelo fights a killer every fight. BS. Canelo has fought many more lousy fighters than GGG and the best guys GGG fought would easily beat the best guys Canelo fought.
Canelo is smaller than Golovkin.
How did Golovkin do against other A-level fighters?
GGG and Canelo weigh the exact same 170 pounds on fight night. They are the exact same weight give or take a pound. They tell you these weights if you are paying attention instead of stupidly and wrongly assuming GGG is a heavier boxer now.GGG was bigger years ago but certainly not bigger today. Canelo has grown and may have to move to 168. As for how GGG did against A- fighters most viewers think he won all his fights even though he is many years past his prime. Let's see how Canelo holds up when he is 33, 34 or 35 years old. He will be completely done and retired long before he is 37.
OK, OK... Canelo beat Chavez Jr and Fielding...
(please follow both of these fighters in the future and see more about them... but don't mind too much)...
Canelo moved up multiple weight divisions, that's the difference. He took on ggg in his 1st MW bout. If ggg wants the same credit he has to do the same and bare min. that's moving up to 175 & fighting champions.
Put it this way John Ruiz is FAR from an all time great but RJJ gets major credit for defeating him even though so many others have.
Again, you are trying to talk about Canelo's achievements vs GGG's. That's not the point of my post
I brought up Canelo's achievements because what he's doing is 10x more difficult and that's why he gets the credit he does and not ggg.
Canelo has conceded all physical advantages, ggg has not. There is a reason why ggg refuses to even budge 8lbs from 160.
ggg SHOULD be able to push Canelo to his limit, he SHOULD be able to beat him but he didn't, he SHOULD be able to KO him etc.
Do you think ggg could do the equivalent of what Canelo did moving up multiple weight classes?
Put it this way, it'd be like ggg moving up to LHW and taking on the champions in his first fights at the weight, would you not expect the 175lb champions to dominate ggg or have major advantages?
do you read sarcasm? I was just rephrasing his words. How can Canelo be clearly superior and not able to beat GGG decisively. that's nonsense

Selective amnesia, I see. Maybe this will jog your memory.

Canelo chose to disgrace himself rather than fight a GGG who was already past his peak even then.
canelos team decided he wasnt ready to fight at a weight he never fought before and under mandatory($$$) circunstances...

Not even close. Golovkin is a 1 trick pony, Canelo can fight numerous ways. Which he showed in the Golovkin fights. Canelo is just a better fight, it's undeniable.A 37 year old boxer fights on even terms wih a 28 year old boxer and the 28 year old boxer is undeniably better????? That makes perfect sense to an arrogant GGG hating jackass but not to anyone with any intelligence, logic and common sense. Age Canelo 9 years and make him 37 and put him in the ring with today's GGG and GGG would slaughter him. Canelo will be completely done as a top boxer and retired years before he is 37. You are completely bias and trash any boxers you don't like no matter how good they are while overrating boxers you do like. For what ever reason you hate Wilder, GGG and Pacquiao and trash them at every opportunity while overrating your favorites like Mayweather, Canelo and AJ. You have been trashing Wilder and saying how much better AJ is. Right now you would have a hard time finding anyone who doesn't think Wilder would beat AJ besides your self.
Golovkin arguably lost, Canelo won comfortably.
How did Golovkin do against bigger guys when he moved up?
both got close W's.
we both know GGG has always been a middleweight and
Canelo is a comfortable middleweight. Don't try to play a Pacquiao card here like he's been climbing from flyweight
