I have seen a few posters here taking sides and acting like complete imbeciles.
I am one of the few that want all platforms to succeed???
Only asking because as a true fan of the sport I would like it to grow and succeed instead of going down the drain.
Some people here need to grow up a little and understand that we are the only ones who benefit from all of them doing well.
Imagine the sport as it is now, with all the cherrypicking and that, imagine how bad it would become if there was only one app or channel ruling all fights, we would be doomed.
Comparing Wilder vs Joshua to Pac vs Mayweather is r3tarded. First of all, May and Pac were PPV stars. Let me repeat, “PPV stars.”
Mayweather made about $200 milllion for his Showtime 6 fight deal, DAZN offered Wilder half of that for 3 fights which included Joshua.
Know how to use the facts. As if DAZN and Showtime would “share” when DAZN isn’t PPV.
And Wilder’s side offered AJ $50M for one fight. So what’s your point?
Dazn isn’t PPV but there’s no law saying it can’t be. Showtime is a subscription TV service but it decided to do PPVs. Dazn could do the same.
No, it wasn’t as big as May-Pac but it’s bigger than any other fight that could have been made — huge potential revenue on PPV in the USA and UK — at the time when AJ held belts and it would have unified the heavyweight title.
There’s nothing stopping them from doing a PPV with Showtime (or Fox or whoever) and sharing the profits. They can do it under the Dazn banner ... no way AJ’s contract says his fights have to be streamed in the USA, only that Dazn has the USA rights for them. They can use those rights to carry the fights however they want.
Likewise, they could have done a one-off where Wilder wouldn’t have been bound to Dazn if he won — they could have negotiated for any future defenses if he did ... or the rematch would have been on Wilder’s terms. They only offered a deal which would bind Wilder to Dazn.
But they didn’t do any of those things, did they?
The problem, the holdup, in every fight scenario involving a Dazn fighter is that Dazn won’t work with others to allow their talent to appear on other platforms. ESPN+ is doing it, Showtime is doing it, PBC fighters are doing it ... only Dazn is keeping these things from happening.
And, apparently, within their own stable they aren’t having a lot of luck making the one big fight they could make without using outside talent: Canelo-GGG III.
So I’ll save my money until they start offering real value for it.
Imagine the sport as it is now, with all the cherrypicking and that, imagine how bad it would become if there was only one app or channel ruling all fights, we would be doomed.
You're wrong about that. They cherry pick because of all the different outlets.
The UFC is a good example that it's much better to have all the best under one banner.
Stopped reading here. If DAZN gives you a premium salary for a certain amount of fights, let’s say 3...umm... isn’t it common sense you will ONLY fight on their platform?
If Floyd agreed with Showtime for 6 fights... one would assume he was only fighting there..
Are you mistaken with Top Rank type of contracts? Was Wilder going to retire after fulfilling his 3 fight deal with DAZN?
And yet Floyd did make a deal for the Pac fight where Showtime and HBO shared platforms and profit and both benefitted.
So yes they allowed him to fight in a bout that was not exclusive to Showtime.
Dazn isn’t willing to do the same.
Lol. Again stoppped reading here. What does an offer for Wilder in the amount of $100 million that includes AJ for Undisputed have to do with Fury in ESPN+ or subscriptions?
What kind of a premise is that? Wilder is clearly brainwashed by Haymon to have not accepted the DAZN offer. Didn’t Wilder insinuate he was going to take a temp leave when news came out for DAZNs offer? Then Showtime gave Wilder options to stop the temptation because Wilder isn’t signed? Then Espinoza gave a speech about “loyalty?”
Lol. I mean...
Maybe you should continue reading instead of “I stopped reading here.”
I’ll try to simplify:
1) You basically said Dazn fighters wouldn’t fight on other platforms because they have big-money exclusive deals with the platform.
2) I said, “Well Fury has a big-money exclusive deal with ESPN+ and yet they are allowing him to work out a PPV deal with Wilder that is not exclusive to their platform.”
We call that an example. Dazn could do the same thing and share in the profit just as ESPN+ does with Fury-Wilder.
I get it. You’re in love with Dazn/Eddie. You think everyone should crawl on their knees to be part of it.
Until Dazn is willing to play ball and work with other platforms, as PBC has done and ESPN+ is doing, then we’re not going to get the top fights.
But if you’d rather watch GGG-Rolls II-level crap with Dazn A-side vs. guy off the street, be my guest.
Can't blame constant mismatches to fans dude. That's just silly. You can probably blame the media, or people with basic cam and pretend they're part of it, for not asking the right questions and tolerate fighters for avoiding fights, for instance.
Actually you can, because what is happening with this Divide (and I see it often on this forum) is that the people who have picked a side will give the side that they're on a Pass for Mismatches while they go the extra mile to Criticize and bash the others. People will post bad ratings and bad news about the others but not the bad news about the one they're a fan of
Why would DAZN or PBC or Top Rank feel the Pressure to provide the fans with Better Match Ups when they have Groupie Fans and Groupie Writers/Reports who defend their mismatches while bashing the others
Not just talking about Divide among fans either, I'm talking about the Divide among Promoters, Networks, Managers/Advisers as well as FANS
This DIVIDE in boxing is also why that sport has fallen behind sports like Hockey, Tennis and even Women Softball Playoffs which does better ratings than most Boxing Events on TV :nonono:

Boxing has a OLDER Demographic but clearly it is a Immature Older Demographic. Kids don't watch boxing so I know these are not Kids trolling on a forum. These are Grown Mentally Unstable Men trolling and picking sides and acting like a Groupie over one while bashing the rest every chance they get. Not just on this forum but you have so called "Professional Boxing Writers/Reporters" who also behave like this on social media daily and it is a disgrace

It will continue to decline at this rate and ultimately ESPN, FOX, DAZN just like HBO will figure that boxing is just a waste of time and money and is just not worth the investment. If that Happens, it will be a damn Boxing PPV every Weekend :lol1:

I think that if one promoter/channel/app ruled, then we'd get better quality instead of cheaper quantity imo.
I want all 3 to succeed, but in order for ALL them to do that is to CONSTANTLY make good fights.

I don't think having discussions about the pros and cons of a given service is a problem. The problem is there are actually posters that have posted they wanted a service to fail. They are the posters we need to isolate. We also need to isolate the people that clearly have a vested interest in a given service.
The rest of us are just having adult conversation about the pros and cons of each service and what we think they can do to get better so our viewing experience as fans is better.
That is what I am trying to say! TY!

Fury has a deal with ESPN+, which has a helluva a lot more subscribers than Dazn USA. Yet they’re willing to work out a fight with Wilder and share the platform. Top Rank has worked with other promoters on big fights dating back to the Don King vs. Arum years, like 4 decades or more.
Dazn isn’t willing to play ball. So we get AJ vs. Fat Boy instead of meaningful fights with Wilder and Fury — the fights people want.
Wilder shouldn’t have to behold himself to Dazn for a unification. They never tried to make a unification stipulation that AJ had to fight on Showtime or whatever if he won.
We’ve had ESPN and Showtime parade with Fury and Wilder or Spence and Crawford about crossing streets... lol
DAZN willing to give Wilder $100 mil+ and you same dorks say DAZN needs to step up while they at least gave Haymon the opportunity with Ruiz Jr. If DAZN were insecure like Shwotime or ESPN they would’ve said no to Haymon even with Ruiz and chose another alternative instead of Ruiz Jr.
In fact DAZN wanted Ortiz didn’t they?
Who blocked all that?
“DAZN needs to step...”. Lol
The problem with fans is to many cowards here. Been telling everyone go to DAZN for the bag. Only dumb fans seem to be the purists for ESPN or PBC
WAR DAZN
But Dazn wants guys to only fight on their platform. They want options to insure when their guy loses they then ‘own’ the other guy.
Wilder-AJ can be made, could have been made, on a one-off where the winner controlled the second fight. Where the splits were known (which was what Wilder asked on the $100M offer, but they wouldn’t reveal AJ so no fair disclosure on the purse split).
Remember when Eddie offered Wilder $12M to fight AJ and Wilder’s side said OK, but only if the purses are reversed in the rematch if I win? Remember when Eddie offered Wilder $4M to fight Whyte and Wilder said OK, as long as we unify with AJ if I win (and Eddie said, famously, “No, no, it doesn’t work that way”) while at the same time saying the point was to build Wilder up in the UK for an AJ match?
The ways these kind of things can work is if your boys at Dazn say “OK, we want to make this fight. We’ll work it out so both sides share in the promotion (which is how Wilder-Fury has worked) and a fair solution on the platform (say Showtime PPV in the USA and Sky in the UK) and Eddie/Dazn don’t control the rematch if Wilder wins.”
They’ve never offered to work out that kind of fair solution — they want the other guys to let their fighters sign with Dazn so Dazn controls everything, yet they won’t free their guys to fight on ESPN or Showtime.
That’s why we get a load of A-side vs. D-side fights on Dazn. That last GGG fight is the kind HBO used to turn down. We get better fights on free TV here.
The Dazn model was advertised as ‘PPV-quality fights without the PPV price,’ but that’s not what they’re actually offering.

well said.....
personally I have:
DAZN, ESPN+, Showtime on demand and ufc fight pass (ever since they added boxing)
I don't want them all to succeed because the more of them out there, the more division there is. Having two orgs is a healthy thing. It creates competition and gives the fans the best product.
I'm not going to take sides though. These promoters aren't my heroes or my friends. May the best ones survive. If they deliver, I'll give them my money. I don't owe them fan loyalty though.

It’s only good if ALL platforms are willing to work with others to make the best fights.
PBC lately has allowed its fighters to fight on other platforms (Ruiz being the top example) Dazn and ESPN+ need to do the same, and Arum seems to be willing to work with PBC or whoever to make a Fury-Wilder rematch. That leaves Dazn to step up.
I don't care because I don't go out there by gossip. Logic tells me that we can only win or loose and we need to win this one. All platforms should be able to make it.
