Steve Rolls landed a baby straight left and GGG's head snapped all the way back. Big Charlo, Andrande, and BJS should try to get a fight with him, easy pickings. Canelo will straight kill GGG, they should think twice before making this fight again.
I hate comparisons like this, history is littered with them as if people get hit with the same punches in every fight.
Look what darnell boone did to ward, if froch or kovalev land it's lights out...
Look what marroquin did to rigo with a left hook, donaire's left hook is going to put his lights out...
Look what mosely landed on floyd, if Canelo lands that same punch it's lights out...
Look at the punches brook landed on GGG, if Canelo lands those it's lights out...
Look what pirog did to jacobs, GGG will put his lights out...
It's not like we saw Canelo-GGG go 24 rounds without him being hurt, it was the one jab that snapped his head back that is the clear indicator of how Canelo will kill him.
Lul....well put :beerchug:

Nutball typography, perhaps not deliberate. I agree with you that Golovkin must find a way to get to the body against Canelo, but I don't think he can do it without taking a decisive beating in return -- unless he puts some serious wrinkles in his game at the very least.
My spacebar was broken.
Yeah it will be interesting to see what he can do. The trainer change adds some intrigue to the 3rd fight if it happens.
I've seen him outbox Canelo 8-4 basically both fights...felt they were both pretty straightforward fights to score. So with GGG getting no real credit for those wins it would be nice for him if he can get a decisive win against Canelo.
We agree that to do that he will need to get inside...and to get inside he will probably have to take more damage.
So we will see how it goes! Should be an exciting fight..I enjoyed the first two
I don't have a lot of interest in a third fight. I had GGG winning the first fight, Canelo winning the second, and it is pretty clear that Canelo would win the third fight more convincingly than the second.
The second fight was a decent enough scrap, but I think it is guaranteed that the third would be less competitive.
I'd rather see GGG either retire, or do something else to add to his legacy - perhaps a move in weight limit or something.
Likewise I'd rather see Canelo do something else, take on a different challenge and get on with building his legacy.
Good chin?
Lol Rolls had 10ko’s dude.
The least he can do is take a punch from a dude with 10 ko’s.
Golovkin does have a good chin though. Hes took some good whacks from good punchers, without having been badly hurt. No reason to think this may have changed.
can't the same be said of ggg?
No, dont think so. He does get stoppages against guys hes own weight sometimes, guys who hadnt previously been shown to be chinny. Canelo doesn't. Yet before every fight we hear how hes going to destroy and knock people out cold. Great fighter Canelo, but not a puncher that youd have any reason to think could flatten guys with decent chins.
You all are overthinkig this.
GGG has looked likes this and was getting tagged vs inferior opponents for years now. Brook, Monroe, Rolls.
The truth is, when he doesn't blow his opponent out of the ring early, he gets tagged. He's an offensive fighter.
He'll be fine in the third fight. He might lose a wide UD, but he won't get stopped.
He can win but he has go to the body and try to simply beat up Canelo, not outbox him because he obviously won't get the decision in Vegas vs Canelo as shown in the past two fights.
He’s got a granite jc Chavez chin..... can’t be stopped,,, a corrupt ref might stop the fight....
He needs to knock Canelo down once.... at least ..... I don’t think he can..
Same way Nelo snapped GGG head back and GGG kept coming foward? Lol. Canelo should win due to judges/ improving performances but he aint dominating no top fighters.

Green when I can bro...
GGG showed signs of being over the hill in this fight against Rolls for sure. Not only that Rolls was landing almost every punch he threw, it was also GGG looking like he doesn't know when to pull the trigger anymore. He was hesistating, doubting and second guessing waaaay to much in there and I can't see how that version of GGG can be successful against someone of the caliber of Canelo and I had GGG winning both of their first fights.
Any retired fighter would tell u, the first sign of veing washed up is seeing openings but not being to capitalize in time and that's what we saw with GGG.
GGG like Chavez sr..... took. Too many head shots..
Chavez sr Looked like a mr potato head late n his career.. GGG looks like a mr. potato face / head now..
He’s an old warrior... in a young man’s game...
Relying on a granite chin, and punching power... wears out shocks / leaf springs... know what I mean?
Could be right. He might beat GGG legitimately this time. Being robbed twice might have deflated GGG to the point he feel its an uphill battle to get a decision.
But GGG has a punchers chance. He knows he cant win decision. Just like JMM knew he couldn't outpoint Pac so went for KO. But JMMs chin in 4th fight was different to first fight. Like JMM had a take a shot to land my own. He couldn't do that in first fight or hed be on backside he had to box to survive.

What did we see?
-GGG tagged a bit
-GGG showing a good chin
-GGG breaking down someone who throws on the earmuffs and stand still
-GGG showing power
seen it all before, nothing to be learned here...i see GGG/Canelo III going the same way as first two, which is fine with me bc they were good fights

I can't see a different type of fight from the first two.
Very competitive, close rounds with Canelo getting the nod because he is with GB.
It's really that simple IMO.

Yes, he switched to the southpaw to throw that wide hook. Not sure I've seen him do that before. I'm used to seeing his dome shots (e.g., the one against Geale's dome was memorable.)
To me he seemed the same old Golovkin, still eating big shots to the mug, but maybe you're right.
I saw the same old Golovkin. In his prime, he was quicker for sure, but the same. Anyway, Canelo's upper body movement, and his ability to fire meaningful counters is a million years beyond anything Rolls does -- or most anyone else. Last time, it turned "GGG" into a much more cautious fighter.
Point being, getting "aggressive" against Canelo without adding any new tactics is likely going to result in another loss.

I think the Rolls fight had a lot to do with trying out some changes. The being evasive part didn’t work so well but did anyone notice that the knockout was scored from a southpaw stance? Also, using those dome shots to set up body shots was new and somewhat effective.
Yeah there is a lot of truth in what you said. They had better get the wrinkles out before the Canelo fight. I think it's a combination of the layoff, diminished reflexes, and the changes they are trying to implement. Canelo is a good fighter with a great chin. He has to be on the top of his game to win a third fight.
I don't think GGG getting hit is a sign of aging. He was trying some new stuff out, but obviously needs more time as he had a short camp with his new trainer. He would be a lot better moving forward instead of trying to play defensive. You all noticed that in the 4th round, he went back to being his old self. He pushed forward, got more aggressive and that KO power was still there. He still has a chin as he was never hurt. His KO power and chin are still intact. Now all he needs is to adjust his style to fit whatever reservations banks has for him as it would help him out in the canelo fight and in other fights.
