Anthony Joshua lost his four heavyweight championship belts to Andy Ruiz Jr in New York, USA, on Saturday night. The Brit knocked his Mexican opponent to the floor after three rounds at Madison Square Garden. But the Destroyer hit back in the same round before flooring AJ two times in the seventh. So what. That's what boxing's all about. You get knocked down, you get knocked out, you get back up again and try to fix the mistakes and get redemption. I'm tired of all these modern boxing fan/clowns who think one loss means you're a bum, always were a bum and will never recover. This is the test of a boxer. Let's see how resilient Joshua is and how he comes back from a devastating loss. This is yet to be seen.
One loss to a fat tomato can does mean you're a bum.
Anyone can get knocked out in the heavyweight division if they aren't entirely focused and keeping their eye on the prize. Of course, xenophobes like yourself will revel in such a huge defeat. I know for sure if it were Wilder who fought Ruiz and got knocked out, you'd be saying he was lucky and will get destroyed in a rematch. Ruiz had the perfect game plan and took his chances at the right time. All praise to him for a massive win. Will you give Joshua credit if he knocks out Ruiz in the rematch? I doubt it.
Provided its in America without the help of a UK or European ref, I would acknowledge its a good moral victory for Anthony. However I've known hes just not good, a win over Ruiz would not change my opinion about Joshua; hes been exposed accept it!
This talk about anyone can get KO in the HW division, trying to mitigate this humiliating loss is rubbish!
Lol @ you guys writing Joshua off after one loss. Truth is, he'll either tighten up his game or fold. We'll see.
Typical Mayweather era boxing fans. You lose one fight, you are a hyped up bum who always sucked.
If Anthony Joshua want to be a real champ, that how his career will ending
2019: 2 L by TKO to Ruiz Jr.
2020: L by KO to Wilder in a couple or round
2020: L by TKO to Fury (after 8 rounds)
2021: L by TKO to Usyk (after 8 rounds)
2021: L by KO to Joyce (or other today prospect) in a couple or round
Last 6 fights of AJ career ... 6 defeats by stoppages!
LOL!
That would be your dream sequence of events wouldn't it? It's sad how someone can have so much hate for someone they don't know and never met, just because they've been successful. You must have a wonderful life. Go back to beating people up in video games, that's likely all you will ever accomplish.
Yeah, I cant remember too many fights that were this one sided where a fighter was systematically broken down where they won a rematch.
Really? How about Kovalev Alvarez I? That was only recently and people were saying Kovalev was done after that fight.
Hearn failed as a promoter big time. He waited too long to milk the Wilder/Fury fights and his fighter lost. Now Joshua has to build himself to make those fights big time again. He'd have to take his game to another level.

Don't think it's standards, he's been fighting timid since the Parker fight. It's strange because he's been in barn burners and high profile fights (Whyte and Klitschko being the best examples).
AJ may have lost 'it' or the fire might have been lit back up. We'll have to wait and see I guess.
I applaud you for your objectivity and comments that reflect reality, not the world inside the head of some of these ridiculously bias fans.
Moneymakers behind Wilder should try to make a checkmate on AJ & brithead hearn, by proposing a huge money to Andy Ruiz Jr. to face Wilder before the Ruiz/AJ rematch clause, from that, if Wilder wins (and will) against Ruiz
Way to not give Ruiz any credit for the win. The fact that you think Ruiz stands no chance against Wilder shows how little you know about boxing. They both have a good chance of knocking each other out. Wilder's huge windmills will go over Ruiz's head if he doesn't control them properly. That would leave the shorter man, with fast hands, open to land sharp, short shots on the inside. Lesser opponents have rocked Wilder. I would say, without reservation, that if Ruiz caught Wilder with a big shot, he would hit the canvas as well.
People are acting like Joshua walked into a lucky punch. Joshua got the **** beat out of him for seven rounds and quit.
It wasn't a lucky punch, it was a solidly timed, sharp, accurate series of punches accentuated by that disorienting shot on top of the head. AJ DID walk into it though, thinking Ruiz was finished.
Joshua hasn't clue of how to beat him. It's a real bad match up for A.J.and too soon after such a mauling.
What do you mean he has no clue of how to beat him? He dropped him first, got greedy, stepped inside and started swinging wildly thinking Ruiz was done. That was a huge mistake. After that shot on the top of the head AJ was disoriented and couldn't recover. There was no way he was going to win after that.
The blueprint to beat Ruiz is for Joshua to keep his distance, throw a solid, sharp jab, keep moving and follow the jab with a straight right hand when Ruiz tries to close range. I'm not saying it's going to work since Ruiz is skilled and has very fast hands but that's the blueprint.
Its too late Eddie! You been exposed. Even if you rob Andy in the UK, fans will never forget that they fell for the hype.

Joshua hit Ruiz as hard as he could, Ruiz got up, tightening up his defense, and went to work.
Ruiz is deceptively good at catching parrying and countering, and he has the speed to do it in combinations.
They really big dudes like Joshua, with the exception of probably Tyson Fury, don't have the hand speed, body speed, foot speed, etc to deal with a really fast guy that can counter their jabs.
Joshua doesn't have a bad jab. But just trying to jab at ruiz, which you would think would be the best thing for him to do got him in trouble.
Ruiz kept countering the jab, because Joshua just can't get it back to defend himself before Ruiz can get his shots in.
Its a problem that I don't see a solution to for Joshua. He just cant handle this kind of speed.
They say speed kills. Andry Ruiz's speed and technique killed Joshua.
Ruiz also fought a calm composed fight, didn't leave any sloppy openings while he was walking him down and breaking him down.
Get past his physique and Ruiz is very sound fundamentally. He is also capable of stepping it up a level also. I don't think he even really had to dig deep to dismantle Joshua.
Judging from his other fights, he had a lot he was holding in reserve. They were probably planning for the late rounds, but they stopped him fairly early.
Another thing too, Ruiz is fantastic at cutting the ring off, which got me thinking...how many other heavyweights even attempt to cut the ring off? Not really a style you see in the higher weight classes.
AJ only chance is to survive for 12 rounds and rob Ruiz in the cards, he's got no jab and no inside game, so he can't keep Ruiz at a distance or fight him when he gets inside. He'd be better off taking a couple of easy fights, making a few more millions and retire "due to an injury"
Agreed
This is the biggest fight in hw history for a long long time
Will Joshua rise back up
He got careless with the glory and let his standards slip
Back to basics and reclaim his throne
Get his balls out of your mouth and grow a pair, you sound like a deep throating prostitute
They want the titles back to AJ? but for what? for ducking the most dangerous opponents again and for years? and at the same time accusing; everyday for years, those opponents of not wanting to face AJ ? NO THANKS!!
Moneymakers behind Wilder should try to make a checkmate on AJ & brithead hearn, by proposing a huge money to Andy Ruiz Jr. to face Wilder before the Ruiz/AJ rematch clause, from that, if Wilder wins (and will) against Ruiz, toto joshua wil be forced to take on Wilder if he want to be world champ again.. in a perfect world of course because we know how corrupted the world of boxing (and combat sports in general) is
How would that work? If what wilder says is true that he is signed tonight ortiz already and if fury fight is signed how they gonna fight Ruiz ? Their schedule is full up till atleast mid 2020. Also if theres an immediate rematch clause and Joshua exercises it then wilder's team cant do nothing about it.

He should have learned from Bob Arum failing to make Gamboa vs Juanma before Juanma got pummeled.
I think AJ never recovered from the first KD and it didn't help him for the remaining rounds.
Somehow, I think he wasn't ready for the war Ruiz brought to him but more for a US MSG showcase.
AJ will have to fight a perfect fight in the rematch, if he does he wins 100% IMO
Ruiz might def have his number.
I just think it comes down to the fact that Joshua is a little too big for his own good. He isn't fast enough to get out of the way of Ruiz's shots. He cant handle the speed.
If someone is too fast for you, and is counterpunching. There isn't really anything you will ever be able to do about it.
He was trying to fight off the jab, but Ruiz was fast enough to counter his jab with that left hook right hand.
You hear Joshua between rounds. He even said he thinks Ruiz is waiting for the left hook, and he knew he was throwing it as a counter to his jab.
He had no solution to this. He asked for answers from his corner. They had no solutions either, because the problem was Ruiz's speed.
