I cannot believe the little obese Meh-heecan stopped AJ. We spent the last 2 weeks making jokes at his expense... this is a serious watershed moment in this generation of Heavyweight boxing. I am legit shell-shocked, and will likely remain so into the middle of next week.
def a shocker for me...fight went kinda of expected at first. was pretty sure ruiz was done after that first KD, but give the man props.
Each time Joshua hurt him and thought he could go in for the kill ruiz blasted him in the exchange
I’m still in utter shock. And I’m starting to think there’s some conspiracy and ritual involved. Josh’s body language all week has been off and there was an article on Forbes earlier this year predicting that Josh will lose this year.
Then you look at the scar on his face on fight week, how Miller failed the drug test like he intentionally did it. Everything is just bizarre.
Do you think the illuminati might be involved?
This is without a doubt the biggest upset in boxing history.. But we'll get over it. This is heavyweight boxing and I hated that the mega fight was being marinated as you just never know what will happen. I remember watching Wilder vs Ortiz and screaming at the TV for Wilder to hug Ortiz and get past him.. I wanted the big fight between AJ and Wilder so bad.
Ruiz wasn't just a underdog.. He was expected to be a quick knockover. AJ has beat better opponents but this is boxing.. I kept thinking AJ can land one and just finish it before he gets too hurt.. But hey Ruiz is now a champ and de deserves it.
Maybe in British boxing history, but in actual boxing history the biggest upset is still Buster vs Tyson, and few others ahead of this one as well.
I think more than anything I'm shocked at just how short Ruiz was sold vs. what we saw in the ring. I get it because he's fat, but the last two things you expect from a fat man are speed and stamina, and those were clearly the keys to his victory, because Joshua was just hopelessly outgunned when he stumbled into Ruiz's range and his gas tank failed him big time while Ruiz was still going strong. I know he says he wants to get into shape but maybe the flab helps him endure the opponent's power and adds extra weight to his shots. Better chin, faster hands, deeper tank, bigger heart, even if he does have the wobblier belly. Probably the biggest breakout performance I could name from the last decade or further back still.
Upsets are GREAT for the sport of boxing, yeah it sucks when it is a fighter you like of course but the Comeback story is far more entertaining than Pampering and Protecting your 0
AJ will be fine, you get the f#ck back up and you work HARDER to come back STRONGER!
After tonight I expect a lot of cruiserweights to start moving up to heavyweight.
Size doesn't matter, it's about will and hard work. Andy has proven it!
Just watched an iFL TV interview with Ruiz in the immediate aftermath. He says he's spoken to Al Haymon and they want the rematch in Mexico, and Haymon will do all he can to sort it out. This could get interesting if Ruiz doesn't play ball with the rematch being in the UK.
Lol, I don't see it happening in Mexico.
I'm honestly not sure Hearn gets his wish of it taking place in the UK either. DAZN is going to push HARD for it to happen in the states. The rematch is going to do GREAT business and you're telling me DAZN will just let it go to the UK? Will be hard for Hearn to pull this off unless they have something in Joshua's contract where he fights once in the states and once in the UK.
im not, both ruiz and joshua are great for the sport, if anything i think aj took the loss pretty well. don't be fooled by ruiz build he has great power and quick hands. In the second meeting i see joshua winning by decision however i wouldn't be mad if ruiz wins again. after tonight im an even bigger fan of both. cheers
Actually no. At first of course it is a shock, but I never saw Joshua as being invincible so not really. Just a great night in boxing. Happy about that more than anything.
Now I can't wait to see how Joshua comes back for the rematch.

What shocked me the most, the first time Ruiz jumped on AJ and threw a power combo he dropped him. Then every time after that he jumped on AJ he wobbled or dropped him. I don't see how AJ can negate that in a rematch. Looks like Ruiz is just all wrong for him stylistically. Short, fights small, and is just too fast with great timing. It's a lethal combo against a big cumbersome meathead like AJ.
Most shocked I have been in a very, very long time.
Always maintained AJ was overrated but I gave Ruiz no chance at all. I didn't think he'd have any real sustained success. Never been so happy to be proven wrong.
Genuinely thought he'd blown it when he let AJ off the hook also.
Really happy for him he seems a great guy, rooting for him to land that Snickers deal.
Maaaan, I lost £5 on PBK drawing, another £5 on N'Dam not lasting the distance, and I came sooo close to lumping £10-15 on AJ inside 6 rounds to make my money back... so glad I didn't! :lol1:

I have also noticed all of those things you mentioned, and felt some kinda suspicion myself. After watching the media workouts and final presser, and seeing an article about AJ's facial injuries, I think AJ was looking drained as hell. Who knows what those injuries to his face were caused by? Looked like scarred up scrapes so doubt it was sparring.

There are few of us who have maintained that this HW era is garbage and we are only proven more right as time goes by. Great win by Ruiz however
This is a great HW era BECAUSE OF stuff like this.
Fury upset Klitschko and Wilder, now Ruiz beat Joshua.
HW division is very exciting because nobody is safe, anybody can lose to anybody.
I'm a big Wlad fan but his era was so boring because he was so much better than everybody else. This isn't the case now.
Nope, not me bro.
I called it, I knew Ruiz would cause AJ big problems.
Well at least AJ is made his money before he was exposed.
No coming back from this one.
The same will happen to Wilder when he faces a big puncher. Whyte or. Ruiz jr, for example.
Hype is over, where are several fighters that can become world champs right now.
I definitely am. Never thought Ruiz would pull this off. So damn awesome though!
I actually like AJ more than I like Wilder but well, it feels like they have been at such a stand still and been killing time with easy fights. Well, that all changed tonight! Having a beer for this one!
Hope you're doing well pal.
