Bitter rivals turned friends, Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard are cornerstones of a golden era of boxing. Along with Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns, Duran and Leonard formed the "Four Kings" who reigned over boxing's welterweight and middleweight divisions throughout much of the 1980s. I think T.V networks are the real problem....when Leonard and Duran was fighting all the massive fights were closed circuit where you could watch for the equivalent of 25 dollars....they were events and a golden era of welterweights and middleweights....showtime & HBO rivalry played in big part on how boxing is now segregated in terms of big fights. When a really good fighter loses now they are labelled as finished....with that era it was more styles make fights and they could still come back and become great... they wasn’t so harshly judged as they are now...that’s a big problem with boxing now
Americans have been juicing since the creation of performance enhancers. Same with Mexicans. It's just a part of life with them. They cheat in any way they can.
if I was jerry quarry and bought PEDs I woulda asked for my money back lol

Biitch I haven't been in jail in over 20 years and haven't been in prison in over 12 years so yeah, IDK WTF a SNAP card is!
Like I said, I live the good life now!
I've got a beautiful house, three cars and a great job that pays me enough to take 4-5 trips a year.
Do you live as good as me??
We both know the answer to that so fucc off you broke biitch!
you still a POS narco. didn't you learn anything in jail pig chumps. you have not lost your natural instinct to be a born jive azz
Duran & Sugar Ray also got paid more to fight each other before 30, research they pay days compared to what fighters are getting today Sugar Ray was making 6 or 8 mill to fight before he was 30.
That KO was frightening. Duran went down like he was shot. Hearns was one intimidating guy. I remember the first time I saw him. The look on his face scared the crap out of me and I was watching it on the TV.
I give hearns and those guys a lot of credit they fought everybody. but hearns was just like mark Breland they could give it out but could not take it. you had to take fire attack them and they would go down. Duran was a short plump LW with no reach. should have never fought hearns but it shows the courage he had
I was wondering how you think Canelo aged GGG??? I hope you don’t really believe that nonsense.
you are so f#ckin stupid and the only way for you to survive is in a psycho ward. canelo postponed the fight for almost a year you stupid prick even teddy atlas said the same thing I did
You don't think fighters back then were juiced? Come on now....
There was no testing back then so fighters could fill their boots and get loaded. You damn right they were on gear.
you are full of s hit. you telling me duran leonard frazier ali foreman quarry etc were juiced? you are pathetic trying to make excuses for todays s hit coward juiced fighters
What the fucc is a snap card??
But yes, I do have DAZN.
Not that I really need it cause I usually go see Canelo fight live in Vegas. I've seen Canelo fight live 8 times.
See I've got it like that! I can afford to go see high profile fights live on a regular basis,...
Can you??
You broke hoe! 😂🤣
you a ghetto goon in jail and don't know what a SNAP card is??? you a f#ckin liar
What do you think he copied from him? I can't see anything. They fight nothing alike.
True I was trying to point out that Mayweather was a huge fan of Duran. Had him rated #2 all time in an interview in Mexico.
It's missing from certain fighter's.
There are fighter's who enter the WBSS or fight the elite fighters regularly like Canelo.
That’s true, but then we have divisions like ww where 3-4 guys claim to be the best, but are content with not facing each other. I feel like promoters realized that a fighter doesn’t even need to prove he’s the best, as long as he can make the claim and amass enough of a following who support that claim. Look at this board ffs...the majority of the threads are arguments about politics and why one fighter or another is justified for not fighting who everyone wants them to fight.
Leonard said it well...”Don't just say you're the best -- show the fans you're the best by fighting the best." This is part of what boxing is missing right now.

Well I'm not surprised if he did copy something because Duran was one of Floyd's idols.

Ray Leonard would've fit right in with this ERA. Great Fighter but was a bit of a Male Diva as well
Had all type of demands for Marvin Hagler to get himself advantages AND he admitted to waiting for Marvin Hagler to slow down and got him right after a very Physically tough fight with John "The Beast" Mugabi
Also admitted to getting Roberto Duran at the right time say that he knew Duran would struggle to make weight in the rematch. So while people THINK Mayweather Started this, NO this always been apart of boxing
also hearns KO'd Duran and they still friends. look at what Duran and Hearns did by moving way up in weight. alright Hearns did have BIG advantage at WW but he did go all the way to LH

Every athlete thinks that "their era" was better than the others....you can find that pretty much across all the major sports in America.
It's also proven that athletes have gotten bigger, stronger and faster over the years so in regards to Duran's comments I'm not to sure how true that is about today's fighters not being able to compete in his era. I'd be willing to bet that it'd be the other way around.
