Would the heavyweights of today...Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury...been even in the top 10? top 5?
Let's take the heavyweights of the 90s, not necessarily in a particular year but in their prime during that decade. I see a very high level of competition. Strongly built guys, good boxing skills, good heart, good chin, good punchers, and most importantly professionals putting in hard work.
Heavyweights of today, save top 3-4, aren't in great shape all the time. Looks like they just hit the gym whenever a fight is upcoming but not necessarily hard enough and do not have well-tuned, chiselled bodies.
Here's a list of top heavyweights (in my opinion) of the 90s.
=====================================
1. Mike Tyson
2. Evander Holyfield
3. Lennox Lewis
4. Riddick Bowe
5. Ray Mercer
6. Donovan Ruddock
7. Andrew Golata
8. David Tua
9. Ike Ikeabuchi
10. Tommy Morrison
The list is not necessarily in order. I see every single one of them giving great trouble to current heavyweights.
Honestly i see Joshua Wilder and Fury being top 10 Lewis Tyson and Bowe beat all 3 and maybe Holyfield (his only fight i could see him possibly loseing is Fury) but the rest could be beaten
I dont see Tomy Morrison beating any of 3 he gives them tough fights but losses to all same with David Tua maybe he beats Wilder but i comes diwn who can take whos punch the best.
Ike can beat them maybe thoe i can see Fury out boxing him.
Ruddock, Mercer lose tough fights Golota has zero heart so i dont see him beat either.
Todays heavyweights are actually pretty good fighters and are dangerous for any era honestly even Ortiz and Whyte could possible be top 10 in 90s era
Ali has been knocked down in his career. But he got up quicker than he went down. Never, ever did he struggle against tough, hard-hitting boxers. Nor did he got up on wobbly legs.
Frazier landed a few times, Foreman hit him repeatedly, Shavers rocked him, Norton got his shots through, Lyle's punches were hard...but none did enough damage to trouble him.
Even when Ali was way past his prime, came out of retirement, wasn't even in great shape or training hard, and fought young heavyweights (Holmes and Spinks), they won on points and not by KO. And
Muhammad Ali was a very ill man, while fighting Holmes and still he could not be stopped. 'That was frightening but sad performance'.
Fury would be the toughest matchup for those guys because of his height and boxing skills. As long as Fury could avoid the left hook for 12 rounds he would beat Tua and Morrison 12-0.
That I can answer easily...NO!
Unless hanging means competing and loosing. Ali would make a Foreman out of AJ and a Liston out of Wilder. Fury will end up, at best, like Jimmy Young.
Foreman-Ali took place in 100 degree weather with 90% humidity, plus Ali ****ed with Foreman badly before the fight even started. Replay that fight in America and Foreman bulldozes him.
So Fury has a better chin than a prime Ali?
Ali got straight up from the Cooper KD and was NOT on wobbly legs. Yes, he was furious/puzzled when he stood up during the round breaks....but not dizzy, wobbly, or weak.
Well, Fury is a much bigger man. I don't doubt that Ali has a great chin, but If Cooper can do this
Then I think its fair for me to have doubts whether Ali could survive one of this massive wind milling hayemakers from Beyonce Wilder.
Cooper landed on Ali so hard that Ali needed smelling salts to be woke up. I don't think Ali would wake up from a Wilder shot, but then again I doubt a Wilder haymaker would ever be allowed to touch a prime Ali chin.

they'd be champs alongside Holyfield and Lewis imo. like this time around, there's no one dominant champ in the 90s and I don't think that would change if they were added to the mix.

Wilder wouldn't ever hold a world title with the top echelon guys of the 90's around along with current day guys. AJ and Fury would compete well, I think AJ would fair better.
Means a competitive fight.
If wilder and AJ land a few haymakers flush on Ali’s chin, what would happen?

AJ, Wilder, Fury all dominate the division with Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson.

Size/height might make them able to compete but, technique wise, today's heavies are trash. Maybe because they're bigger, but that wouldn't explain why guys like Vitali and Lewis were so much more talented. Also, for whatever reason, today's heavies are much less entertaining to watch.
Anthony Joshua is the only guy who would be a threat, and still champion.
Tyson Fury is incredibly physically weak for his size, and Wilder? Fair play he has power, but his boxing ability is underpar, plus his durability is not great.
There are more fighters who you have left off the list, Michael Moorer, Frank Bruno, Francis Botha. I think Bruno & Moorer would beat both Whyte & Ortiz.
