Last we heard of him he was being sat on the shelf and kept inactive for almost a year by Bob Arum, then fed to Lomachenko.
He hasn't fought since. What ever became of him?
Its funny that you make this a thread though.
Why not make one where mosley was off for a year before facing froid? Or is it that it bothers you that a black fighter was dominated by a white man?
What's funny about it? Walters looked like he had a promising career going and then suddenly just dropped off the map.
Floyd, black fighters, and white men have nothing to do with this. Other than the fact that they seem to live in your head.
So you think walters would have won if he had taken the fight when it was first offered to him instead of ducking?
I clearly stated that Walters would very likely have lost anyway, even if he hadn't been put on the shelf for a year.
You know danm well thats what you were alluding to boy. Keep acting stupid
The Lomachenko fanboys certainly chose to focus on that part. I wasn't trying to go there but it's not my fault if they get upset by the facts.
You and I both know that a fighter coming in off a 1-year layoff isn't being given a chance to put his best foot forward.
Would he have lost to Lomachenko anyway? Very likely. But let's not pretend like those were anywhere close to ideal circumstances for Walters.
Hell, look how bad Thurman looked against freaking Josesito Lopez after his layoff. How much worse must it be to go into a fight like that against someone like Lomachenko?
That was most likely due to Walters ballooning up in weight between fights. He was offered the fight 6 months previously and turned it down. It comes down to who do we blame here? It has to be Walters. He had opportunities then and he has had them since. He was never shelved. It's pretty obvious to me that he has had weight issues. First losing a belt on a scale. Then refusing (delaying) fights in order to get into fighting shape. It also explains why he signed up for fights and then backed out of them twice since as then 3 weeks before fight night. I might be wrong, but my guess is he became undisciplined after success. (Cough Tank Davis like)

Canelo had an inactivity of one year because the test by tainted meat
He had a surgery in his knee
And whooped the ass of Golovkin in the rematch
Walters was a B class fighter that was famous because he K.Od midgets like Donaire and Darchinyan
Very smaller fighters
There was not any "feeding" going on. This fight was a fight pitting two top tier 130lb opponents against each other. One passed the test and the other one failed the grade at that time. It was not some up and comer being matched against some old name opponent. It is how boxing supposed to be. The fight was a great fight on paper. Walters looked bad in the fight. It happens. Why he has not come back since then only he can answer.
Top Rank had Walters billed on two cards since then, and Walters backed out each time. Why? I have no idea.

Walters turned down the Loma fight down 5 months prior to fighting Loma. He put himself on the shelf.
Then after he’s been scheduled to return twice and pulled out. First time was in the Crawford-Indongo card.

As far as his return he actually had a scheduled fight a couple months ago but called it off due to fever.
Ever since than idk what happened to him. Such a promising fighter also.
Looks like he was trying to schedule a fight for August of last year.
"He was also preparing to fight this month but talks between his camp and promoters to find an opponent broke down.
With Walters' contract with Top Rank Boxing Promotion coming to an end later this year, it is understood that his camp is disappointed by the lack of opportunities presented for him to compete. However, Brown said that Walters' mistake was getting rid of his manager Jacques Deschamps, describing it as a "classic example of what not to do as a world champion."

He's obviously broken. He need someone to come along to believe him by help lifting his spirits. Unfortunately, the fire, passion and desire for the sport is no longer there. He is missed however. Who could ever forget the Darchinyan and Donaire knockouts?
Lomachenko was a prospect??? And Walters ****ed himself. Arum gave him a very generous offer to fight Lomachenko and he turned it down. Rigondeaux did the same thing. Of course both of them came back once they realized that they weren't going to make more money elsewhere.
A very generous offer? Wasn't it only like $300,000 or something like that?
