There are some people who actually believe Fury is the best hw (I am not one of them) because his jerky jerky style has done a job for him in two big fights.
In the Klitschko fight he did very well but if ever there was an example of 'styles make fights' that is the one boxing heads should point to.
Klitschko was usually the bigger man ad fought at distance and leaned in and on opponents sapping their energy, amd then knocking them out - which precisely what Fury did to McDermott, Cunningham and others. Add in the fact that WK was super lethargic that night and Fury got his shock.
But let's not make him into this defensive genius giant Mayweather. He has been dropped by several dudes now, none of them very good, and is there for taking by a guy like AJ who wont be leaned on, won't sleep through rounds like Klitschko did, and is a finisher.
So....we have Fury still dining off of his WK win and the good performance against Wilder, and nobody blinks an eye when he fights utter bums. WTF! For a guy who has a following, a massive contract, and is supposedly a 'king' I'd like to see some Parker, Ortiz, Whyte types in there with him.
What I'd really like to see is him fight AJ at Wembley, but I can't get my head around the ****e he fights, and the fact nobody seems arsed.
In most ppls eyes he beat wilder and got robbed. the public will let him have a few bums after that
Sorry....I don't get the connection between a win, and then a pass for fighting bums.
Sensible people know that but Fury fans aren't sensible.
I'm a fan, most of the time.
But yeah, this lineal stuff is just a marketing ploy. He's not even lineal, as he gave it up when he retired.
He's had 2 world title fights in 11 years. What's he been waiting for if he's that good? He's a con-man, unfortunately a lot of people especially Brits fall for it.
Yes, he's had 2 world title fights, one of them a win against Wlad Klitschko, who Wilder publicly ducked after winning his title from that useless fat pudding Stiverne.
Fury doesn't hold a world title now and he has no obligation to fight Wilder on another PBC show. If the duck team wanted an immediate rematch they shouldn't have robbed Fury of the win he deserved.
Brits don't care and will give him a pass but who is buying that crap unless it is on free tv. Imagine paying for a boring Fury fight. He is more entertaining when he talks than when he fights.
He's not entertaining, he's actually a bit of a sad act. When he won the title, the UK public got sick of the sound of him very rapidly.
Exactly. Fury was clearly a long way off his best against Wilder. He can fight whoever he wants to fight till he's ready to step it up again.

Wilder's the champion though. He's got mandatories and he's got challengers.
If Fury goes in and beats Schwarz he remains the number 2 fighter.
If he goes in against Whyte, or Ortiz and gets caught by a hook then he moves down the rankings.
So, from Fury's perspective, why fight a good fighter? He's nothing to gain.
On the same topic, how much credibility does Whyte get for taking the Rivas fight? He's not where Fury is and can still gain from it, but he's risking a hell of a lot against a decent fighter.
Because if Wilder admitted he tried to cherry pick a dude coming off a 3 year layoff and 3 stints in rehab, it would make him look even worse considering Fury toyed with him and faked 2 kds just to afford him a draw.
Fury has a win over Wlad, Wilder is still tossing out excuses for ducking AJ, LOLOL.

If Fury was an American, you'd be crucifying him right now.
He can do what he wants. He isn't a champion and it's not like he hasn't fought and beat big names already. It never seemed to be a problem when wilder was still fighting bums well after his 30th fight, hell they were claiming he was putting in the hard work facing the best.
That's right Jason gavern, the best.

not going to disagree with you at all its a BS turd fight that shouldn't be happening but not just Fury the whole of boxing is like that right now except maybe Canelo (but then i can never get 100% to root for him with the dirty test)
sad state of affairs but these promoters are fighting each other and playing chess throwing stupid money at fighters to gain their signature and then matching them with bums so they don't lose their hand in the game vs the rival networks
Absolutely this. The tail is now wagging the dog. Promoters are dictating who their guys can fight, and taking ultra low risk stuff.
I honestly believe Joshua's instructions to Hearn are "get me Wilder" and "get me Fury" and those guys are not interested in the risk AJ poses. And who knows...both would be underdogs but both could win on any given night. But at least AJ wants the tests - he absolutely does.
I think Fury will milk the next few fights and then take Wilder on again - which of course does not bode well for those of us who want Joshua V Wilder. Now Wilder has potentially Breazeale, Ortiz and Fury coming up - that's almost 2 years of scraps till the door even opens for Joshua and even then that cowardly cvnt from Alabama will s**t himself. Please God let Breazeale knock this phoney out!! Qhen Finkel says "Deontay is going in a different direction" that is a euphemistic way of simply announcing the duck - and somehow that just passes as ok.
F**k Wilder.

- -Why do you pass gas?
Because it happens.
....next!!!
In the first instance (Germany) it was his privelige to do.it, so absolutely no props for that. Why would he, at that stage, decline that opportunity? In the second instance - he definitely deserves credit, although as we now know Wilder isn't all that good. ABut Fury was great that night, espec9as you point out after 2 years on the ale.But...that's still not the point. Why then, after that, fight utter no marks? It's bs and especially when we've got Whyte looking for a fight .and loads of better options.

Fury went to Germany and the US as the challenger and came away from both fights undefeated I don't think you say much about him willing to challenge himself he called out wilder and wlad endlessly before he got either fight he wasn't forced he wanted it even after 2 years of eating kebabs and drinking pints
he was offered a stupid deal money wise and was probably advised by all those around him to take it since his stock was really high coming off the wilder fight and that chance may not come again business wise he did the right thing and for career longevity too but from a sporting sense it sucks we didnt get to see the rematch

First of all, the question wasnt "can he do what he wants?" Yes, of course he can. But the question was "why does he get a pass for fighting bums?"
And just cos Wilder is a bum slayer dont make it ok for Fury. If he sees himself as the best (lol) he should be aspiring to fight the best, grabbing belts and making big fights.
Him and Wilder are taking the piss - ruining the hw scene.
Only AJ and Whyte are trying to make big fights.
Even Ortiz bottled it.
So....my question is...why do fans excuse this bs? It's madness, from them.and so called boxing fans who just accept it.
Fury is being managed well, the bloke has a very suspect chin and even the poorest of top 20 Heavies could take him out at anytime if they land a half decent clean shot and blow a massive hole in his future earnings. Its likely he is a KO waiting to happen and when he meets a hungry fighter with a little guile as well a bit of power i suspect he will be in trouble, Wilder was perfect for him with his novice skills and telegraphed shots others wont make it so easy for him. I like Fury he is good entertainment, but i dont see him lasting more than 4 rounds with Joshua. Until that fight gets signed he might as well fight some limited opposition and make a nice little earner.
He's been in there with both wlad and Wilder, gone 12 rounds with both, and you still claim that he has a suspect chin? Anyone with a suspect chin wouldn't have gotten up from that 12th round. If 2 of the biggest punchers at heavyweight in the last 2 decades couldn't ko the man,how are you going to claim that some top 20 Joe shmoe is going to do the job?
