Everything is going this direction I even have hbo as a app right now (despite no boxing) cause of thrones and I can watch it from point to finish it’s the new era.
Espn has did this with ufc
And boxing with old ass bob ass ahead of his era , but man when the pbc network deal runs out its gonna be a ugly site. Anyway I didn’t make this on some al haymon groupie **** I’m makin this telling him he’s ****in up.
You are correct about kids but they will ask that now. A month or so ago the wife and I were Spring cleaning and we threw out a DVD player from our room. Our 11yr old daughter asked us "what is that thing"? LMFAO!!
My point exactly!!! LOL
Man they were talking about the winter is coming for damn near 9 years and guess what that shat Came ain’t no rainbows.
LOL, yeap, but everything was too dark. Director didn't deliver.
I think we all can agree streaming is the future. Does that mean streaming will be the exclusive or primary medium fans consume certain sports? That, I don't know.
I think PBC and ESPN do it right-they offer both live TV events and fights available on streams. The major sports in the US do the same so if they haven't gone exclusively to streaming I don't see why boxing would.
Bro pbc does not offer that unless it’s showtime and they don’t put their good fighters on showtime.
You guys really have to stop with wanting one to Fail and wanting only one to succeed. This is not good for the sport and by doing this you're not HELPING DAZN you're actually making people go against DAZN and not even want to subscribe to it by USING DAZN to be ANTI PBC
PBC not going away anytime soon and neither is Top Rank over on ESPN or DAZN because it is a market for ALL. As for "When PBC Network Deal Run Out..." well when PBC Deal is up guess who will be calling to try and get in on PBC: DAZN, ESPN/ESPN+ because of the Roster it possesses! It would be good business for either of them if they can land PBC Roster exclusively :dunno:
However, FOX Corp. have Billions and generate BILLIONS so what is with thinking that FOX will just fade away. I take it that a lot of you are not in America so you are F#CKING Clueless and are just pretending like you have a clue about this American Market and how it works
FOX have OTT Deals in place to get their Programming out Digitally regardless if it is with: HULU, YoutubeTV, SlingTV, DirectTV Now...These Streaming Services PAY THEM a lot of money for the rights to have their Networks on their streaming services
Traditional Programming is NEVER going away EVER, only thing that will change is that Your Cable Provider will send you out Android Devices or Roku and you will get your programming off of that Device.
NO The future is not having subscriptions to Multiple Apps, it is having a subscription to One APP that Delivers everything like HULU. In which you're able to get On Demand while also being able to still get your Live Programming
Bro I’m a pbc fan but this is not the modern day model in 5 years everyone and everything is going to be streaming cable is almost out of business
Except for the last episode which was so dark that no one knows what happened LOL
Man they were talking about the winter is coming for damn near 9 years and guess what that shat Came ain’t no rainbows.
There are almost 100 million homes in America that either:
1. Live in an area that doesn't have adequate internet and the ISP aren't building the infrastructure because the cost doesn't justify it.
2. Have access but can't afford it. Because of this now pre-paid internet/cable is a thing in urban areas.
People liked to make jokes about Bounce TV when PBC was putting shows on there. Saints & Sinners on Bounce gets higher ratings than NHL, MLB, & Boxing.

Great Post! But people will ignore stats and facts to push their own narrative :dunno:
I think you're right that PBC & ESPN are doing things right RIGHT NOW with offering both options (to some degree) in relation to what people are ready for.
I think DAZN isn't making a play for RIGHT NOW is the thing for their side of the street. Their first goal they are going for is sustainable now (with boxing & with sports which I think is something people forget, DAZN is sports, not boxing), which is the real debate for them, & betting on the future being streaming & them being a big player in that world where all the money they are throwing out there now pays them off.
I tend to agree with this. I fully expect a partnership with like NBCSports that will allow viewers to see some fights or an option to buy just the fights you want to see.

no one under 30 watches tv. Its all streaming.
I'm 27 and watch TV. I have cable at home. When I'm at my friend's house and want to watch a fight, I'll use the Fox/ESPN app to watch on his Roku TV. If it's on Showtime, I'll use the xfinitystream on the laptop and hook it up to the TV.
I can use these apps from me having a cable provider. Things like ESPN+ or DAZN, I have to pay on top of cable which I don't currently do. I might pay $20 for the Canelo/Jacobs fight and then cancel.
Let me repeat, would DAZN Mexico solely focused on Canelo Alvarez? As far as I know, Mexicans love American Football like the NFL.
You think ''commercial free'' is exclusively in the USA? You think Middle Class and up Mexicans whom have a job would rather skip all the ad jazz from traditional Box Azteca title graphics and noise? Have you ever seen a Box Azteca fight for Marquez or Canelo? It's crazy graphics world.
You could be totally right about traditional attraction, but I'm willing to bet that many Mexican boxing WHOM CAN PAY will want to opt out of their traditional ads. Again, that concept isn't exclusive to just North America. Netflix success?
Your argument for DAZN is it's cheaper than PPV. ok I get that. Mexican fans are already getting fights cheaper than PPV. DAZN would be more expensive. Then you switch your argument for DAZN for Mexican fans isn't that it's cheaper, but it's "graphics free".
I guess I'm thinking it's cheaper than DAZN so they will go with the cheaper alternative.
Again you're confused. First off you're assuming Box Azteca is all about Canelo Alvarez. They're not. Box Azteca... let me repeat...'BOX AZTECA' does not solely strive on Canelo Alvarez. They're all about boxing and they too focus on their prospects.
You keep on focusing that DAZN Mexico would be just marketed to Canelo Alvarez...a side from the multi content on DAZN... don't you think Mexican fans would be insulted if they heard your theory? Have you forgotten that a huge sector of Mexican boxing and its fans don't like Canelo Alvarez...they too have their critics.
I asked a question. If they can see the prospects why would they purchase DAZN? There isn't multi content on DAZN as of now.
I am only trying to gauge why people that can see Canelo fights would pay for a DAZN subscription.
Again you're confused. Box Azteca is miniscule to a Mexican having DAZN on their mobile device. Completely different structure, content, and platform. You also missed the part that DAZN doesn't have realtime commercials or tortilla flour bags covering the screen...
There is no need for anyone that can see Canelo fights already to purchase the DAZN app, unless they want to see other fighters. That is the only point I am making.
While you don't like certain aspects of their production, you surely don't speak for every fan viewing fights on Tv Azteca.
You seem to be confused here?
But I have real cryptic answer for everyone. It's without a doubt that ESPN + and Showtime COULD provide a cheaper PPV, but they just don't want to because they're greedy.
If all the DAZN haters are riding with Disney+ (ESPN+), well if they have all that money, why aren't they giving ALREADY paying fans a PPV fight at the level of DAZN? DAZN has a better roster than ESPN..
Again it's all greed.
The ONLY way ESPN and Showtime can compete with DAZN is to LOWER the PPV. In fact ESPN or Showtime or Fox can do as they wish, they aren't going to beat DAZN imo. DAZN has a uniqueness to it. Consumers like new things.
Look at how the major sports have evolved with streaming. you can get the entire NBA package (all the games) or you can purchase just the games of the teams you want to see. It's about choice and flexibility. The same could apply to boxing streaming srvices.
Yes, it's great to have the option to have all the DAZN fights, but if you only care to watch Canelo or AJ in "major" fights, which hasn't happened yet on DAZN, I can't see why you'd expect people to purchase it.
For example-if you are interested in Canelo/GGG 3 and nothing else, to get DAZN for a year that is $99.99. The same person can pay $25 to go watch in a movie or $99.99 for the PPV.
You are assuming everyone wants more. Have you considered maybe they don't?
Well for starters, Box Azteca from my own PERSONAL taste, I'm not into all those nonsensical graphics on screen selling products. It's interesting I'll give them that and no other world market does such a thing, but DAZN is traditional and doesn't have any of that stuff.
Again, DAZN would ideally offer all of its content in Mexico. Like I said, it could cause a WAR with Box Azteca, but at the end of the day, DAZN is a more formal and better platform than Box Azteca. I wonder how Mexicans will react to its Hispanic MMA category too.
Is that a yes? If so, I can't see why a Canelo fan that gets TV Azteca would buy DAZN if they are already getting the Canelo fight without having to pay a subscription fee for DAZN.
Netflix 140 million subscriber.
ESPN+ has 2+ million subscribers.
Showtime and CBS All Access has 8 million subscribers.
Hulu 25 million subscribers.
At the end of the day, Boxing is still niche. It's about which boxers are where and which boxers will choose to go. That's how branding works. Doesn't matter if Disney+ can push ESPN+. It only matters when a fighter signs, its noise, and how they're marketed.
How are ESPN doing selling Loma and Crawford?
How well will Showtime/Fox push its PBC stars?
What significance will DAZN's brand make for boxing and MMA fans? Brands make a difference. Consumers and fans aren't going to debate subscription wars for getting ESPN+ vs DAZN. That's not how they think. I've said this many times. If consumers buy excess things, why I assume a boxing fan wouldn't pay for both ESPN+ and DAZN?
LEt's stop comparing movie catalogs and shows to sporting events. Doesn't matter if Hulu has 25 million subs, what fighter is on Hulu and does a fan of Canelo or AJ give a fook about Hulu on their monthly service if they're only interested in boxing?
Netflix's rise is based on GLOBAL subscriptions. DAZN's methodology is based on going GLOBAL. In 2018 they've made an accelerated push for MMA and Boxing. IT's a start and slowly growing.
When DAZN hits Mexico, cause I assure you Carlos Slim, the leader of Global Telecommunications, could quite possibly prioritize in helping DAZN land there considering he's a friend and fan of Canelo Alvarez. Which means DAZN will want to continue investing more in the Hispanic market and possibly big on Mexican boxing. How that might rival Boz Azteca might cause a war, but it is what it is.
WAR DAZN!
Correct me if I'm wrong but Canelo fights are shown on regular TV Azteca in Mexico?
imo its because no one wants to pay anything per month etc and then have to pay a separate ppv for the better fights......
idk but I think they dropped the ball there having fights on espn+ and then you still gotta order ppv for the better fights (and the last ppv wasnt too good imo)
Could be. PPV in theory is purchasing on TV instead of a ticket. DAZN/ESPN+ are asking me to pay a monthly fee for fights that I wouldn't necessarily buy a ticket for. I expect to watch those without paying additional fees over my cable bill.
The PPV fights I decide if I would buy a ticket to that fight. If so, then I will purchase the PPV. If It's not, I don't.
I think ESPN will eventually do what SHO does and make it available on both.
The problem with Disney branding is its historical ethics. It's known as a Children's company first. They have a limit on what to push. There's no way around it. That's the reason why they have ESPN+ as their sports revenue portal. How much will Disney back ESPN+ Boxing is yet to be seen. That's all relative to which new prospects we know can make noise.
People forget that it's not just about 1 subscription purchase. Data and analytics shows who is watching when. If a particular fight or sports category isn't projecting the numbers they really want, then bigger budges aren't allocated and therefore it's just flat.
For instance. If Canelo Jacobs is a FOTY type of fight. Where even in sports news its like ''best fight in a long time.'' That alone attracts boxing enthusiasts to get DAZN and watch it. That's how it all works.
and you can watch it and backtrack at any point in time..... even if its a live fight etc...
honestly what other boxing programs have that right now?

Disney continues to lose money on streaming as it builds up ESPN+, prepares for Disney+ launch
ESPN+ continues to cost Disney money nearly a year into its launch.
The world of subscription streaming services has a very high barrier to entry, even for some of the most powerful media companies in the world. Disney is finding that out right now. After 2018 earnings that saw the company lose hundreds of millions in the streaming sector, Disney is reportedly set to lose hundreds of millions more in the first half of 2019.
That’s according to this report from Gerry Smith at Bloomberg:
Disney lost just under $100 million on streaming in the first quarter and expects to lose an additional $200 million on its online video efforts in the second quarter, mostly to develop ESPN+, its subscription sports channel. The company will also surrender about $150 million in operating income after cutting off licensing to competing services, executives said on a February call. “Captain Marvel,” a superhero blockbuster that opened Friday, is the first Disney movie in years that won’t eventually show on Netflix.
This was always going to be a long-game for Disney, a company that can certainly afford to make investments like this, especially with the potential for a big return down the line. It’s not just the operating income, though, to be fair; there’s also a big opportunity cost in the near-term for Disney on the entertainment side.
Michael Nathanson, a media analyst with MoffettNathanson, expects the Burbank, California-based entertainment giant to lose more than $1 billion this year and another $1 billion next year by forgoing licensing deals and investing in its online video business, including Disney+, which will be the TV home for the company’s movies when it debuts later this year.
These are all costs Disney has factored in, of course, and on the sports side, they’ve recently touted a growing ESPN+ subscriber base of 2 million users. The numbers probably still make sense for Disney, even if the reward might not come for a while yet.
