He’s the same fighter. Good hand speed and footwork. But once he gets rocked it’s game over.
His chin was checked early in his career by Prescott and others have just made it worse.
Still a guy that makes entertaining fights, even if he’s often on the losing end of them.
Hard to say, he's definitely past his prime, but I'd categorize him as faded instead of shot, for now at least. Think that may change after tonight, but I'm hesitant to declare anyone shot after 1 poor performance. He still had the goods against Canelo, he just was never going to avoid the shots for 12 rounds.
His last fight makes that obvious. He struggled with a guy not even in the top 50. A hand picked cherry Spence easily KOed on the way up. Khan was at his best under Roach beating Maidana, Judah and Paulie. He had poor performances under Hunter against Diaz and Algieri. I'll be surprised if he wins any rounds unless he can recapture his old skills. He is 32 and looks a bit soft at 147 now. The odds of 16 to 1 against him are justified.
His chin's been shot since he got ktfo by Prescott
He got wobbled by Willie Limond. Who was a tiny, feather-fisted domestic level opponent. That was before Prescott. There are clips where he has been wobbled nasty in the amateurs. His chin has never been great.
If they say you're only as good as your last fight, then i'd say he looked shot, or well on the slide at least.
But who knows, maybe he overlooked his opponent a bit but his speed didn't really look like it used to. Take the speed away from Khan and you're left with a pretty basic fighter with huge flaws.
Against Vargas he was slow, lethargic, very hittable
