I was thinking about this. I honestly don't think most top boxers grow up dirt poor. Are they born with a silver spoon in their mouth? No. But they aren't exactly starving. Obviously some exceptions like Pacquiao.Pacquiao isn't the exception most boxers from third world countries grow up dirt poor. even in first world countries like america you got guys like PEDerson who grew up homeless.
Both of JMM and MAB families in Mexico had money and those two didn't exactly come up the hard way.
Spence grew up in the suburbs.
I don't think Lomachenko grew up rough either.
Amir Khan's family was well off, so was Hamed's.
So there are a solid amount of examples of boxers who reached the elite status who's families had money. Boxing in general is a poor mans sport no doubt, but a lot of the top boxers now a days aren't coming up like say Lamont Peterson or Manny Pacquiao.
Yeah but generally speaking it is true. Of course there is exceptions to the rules .

Never knew that. I heard UFC fighter Cowboy Cerrone has a huge trust fund so he didn't even have to become a fighter.
Beibut's also a trained lawyer and independently wealthy as a businessman in his own right... dude ain't anyone's idea of elite but he's a solid fighter, so fair play. I'd like him better if he hadn't have held the WBA belt hostage for a few years in the early 'teens, but I guess that's really on the WBA, not Beibut.

Rare for someone who ain't from a poor background or who has boxing in the family though.
There was a kid I remember from michigan that was from an extremely rich family Unbelievable house on the lake they owned a nice restaurant and many businesses who was tough but limited and damn near got a big fight but got destroyed by a fringe contender and still fought a couple fights afterwards.
Beibut Shumenov’s dad is like a millionaire tycoon and he trains out of his mansion on a ranch. He did pretty good as a boxer . But these guys are rare
