I'm saying doe, he was already an alternate in the tournament, and we saw what he did! If they need an alternate for Josh Taylor, he's their man! His promotion group is as green as he is! I can't believe Cotto hasn't broke bread with him, and he's right there in PR! Wouldn't be surprised of Ringstar (Schaefer) snatches him up soon! I hear what your saying but as a Taylor fan (from the same city), I don't want JT going near that guy.. quite yet. That would be a fight after Josh has (hopefully) established himself as a belt holder and matured just a little more. Baranchyk was the perfect fight at the right time and he came with the IBF strap. I'm not an advocate of too much too soon, and JT has already risen faster than an Apollo rocket. Matias is just too high risk and too low a reward to take on, imo. But for a red hot Puerto Rican to still be handled by one man and his dog is crazy. Let's assume talks are happening, maybe with Cotto, or the boxing world has gone officially mad.

March 2, 2019: Manager reiterates Baranchyk not fighting Taylor Dave McWater, the manager of junior welterweight world titlist Ivan Baranchyk, was as surprised as anyone when he read a news release on Friday from the World Boxing Super Series with comments from Baranchyk's trainer, Pedro Diaz, discussing his pupil's preparation for a tournament semifinal bout against Josh Taylor. Why was McWater so surprised? Because Baranchyk withdrew from the tournament a month ago. C'mon man! A little while ago you was bragging about how you made more than twice as much money as me and now your saying you have bills and kids and you can't just go and buy a plane ticket??? I make $36 an hour so if you make more than double what I make then you make $75-$80 an hour or more so buying a plane ticket shouldn't even put a dent in your pockets! I've got bills too but I can easily afford a round trip plane ticket anywhere in the US so why can't you??? But I'll tell you what... When I go on my trip in May I have a 4 hour layover in Fort Lauderdale and on the way back the following week I'll have a 5 hour layover in Fort Lauderdale again. So I'll be there on May 10th and May 18th. I'll meet you either of those two days, whatever works for you! I'll even let you pick the place as long as you keep it within 10 miles from the airport... Not sure why the fight would be stopped, Mikey wasn't getting hurt. He was getting hit but not hurt. He was never in trouble. This is the problem when you have family in your corner.
