We all need to come togather for the sport we love and show these corrupt motha****as we ain’t standing for it no more! These fighters lay their lives on the line and the sport needs to grow some damn integrity
I’m suggesting we go to press confrencess mocking judges, officials, commissions, stop showing up to live events and if we do we cuss out judges from the rip. We also need to push a qualified judge job search I wouldn’t get hired in any field if I never done it but these judges never boxed and get to judge a fight it’s insanity.
Bottom line The only way we solve this problem is if we all come togather.
See that’s the problem I can watch fights and know the winner I don’t see it going either way that should never happen that’s like saying the chiefs should of beat the pats BUT THEY DIDNT and it falls to my point that this sport has no integrity.
With all due respect AK perhaps that means you really don't know the winner but rather you just want someone to be the winner. That's not an insult but simply human nature if you have a dog in the fight. How many times have we seen a trainer tell a boxer that he's up in a fight that he's clearly losing? It happens all the time. The trainer may be focused on his guy and not watching what the other guy is really doing. If the pros get it wrong like that, should we expect anything different from a fan?
Here's the thing. If the judges don't agree with you and the compubox statistics don't agree with you, the problem probably isn't with the judges and the statistics. It means you are judging the fight on criteria that (1) the judges didn't see and (2) the statistics don't bear out - and that's indicative of someone looking for a reason to award a particular fighter the win, not of the actual winner. That means you're in conflict with two (or three or four depending on the number of judges) data points. That means the outlier is you.
So here's my challenge. Watch any fight that's close on clean effective punching via compubox and try to figure HOW a judge could score the fight they way they did. If the judge is within a round or two of a draw and you can't figure it out, then the problem is probably with you because you're looking for scoring that doesn't really exist.
Let me take an example of a decision that I don't agree with: Leonard/Hagler. I still think Hagler won that fight. He landed the harder shots and was the aggressor the entire fight. But I can watch that fight and give SRL the edge by 2-3 rounds pretty easily if I award Leonard's movement as ring generalship over Hagler's aggression. Therefore I don't have a big issue with Dave Moretti (SRL) or Lou Filippo's (Hagler) cards. What I can't see is Jo Jo Guerra's surreal 118-110 but that's the point - that scorecard isn't borne out by the actual fight in the ring nor the statistics surrounding it.
So I can watch Fury/Wilder and give Wilder the fight by 2 points or Fury the fight by perhaps 3. A handful of punches as a differential and two knockdowns is going to cause that kind of swing. I can see Ugas/Porter by a couple of points either way. So even if I don't agree with those decisions at least I don't see them as egregious. They're both reasonable decisions because neither fighter in either fight truly took control and did what really, truly matters - out-punching the other guy.
You're looking silly buddy. Boxing has been 'dying' for 100 years.
Says the guy who's been getting clowned with every post.
And how many years have you been following this sport?
It took you 30 minutes to come up with this?
There will always be "huge stars in boxing," eh? What's this, a new conversation?
:ugh:

I saw another one JUST sign a huge contract... And a few others who fight for around 5 million a fight.
What you're missing, which probably equates to you being young, is that there will ALWAYS be huge stars in boxing. Always. It's been dying for over 100 years they say.
Look at actual stats, not opinions.

You saw "a fighter" sign a big contract.
"A fighter" also know as ONE fighter.
Gee that is impressive..
The average guy is making a few thousand dollars to get his head pounded in.
Also, the sky is blue.

I saw a fighter sign a 325 million dollar contract. Did you?

It's business first and sports later, get used to it, the bigger name will always have the advantage, if you are the underdog and you wanna win, you better bring it and don't let it go to the judges.
HBO dropping the sport from it's roster was clearly a good sign.
I'd keep trying to disacknowledge that if I was you. Good move.

Didn't the last PBC fight have more average viewers than the last 7 UFC PPVs or something? Lol.

Yes, getting dropped by HBO was pretty record breaking alright.

That’s why I said it used to happen only once or twice a year and only in high profile fights now it happens just cause of promoters.
You think it only happened once or twice a year a decade or two ago?
Sorry, but it happened just as much as it does now. Going back further when the mob were involved was when it was at it's worst. But it's still the most corrupt sport out there today. This I hate to say, won't change.
Then you have "Fans" agreeing with the robberies. It's just grotesque from top to bottom.
the mistake you are making is thinking people care. as long as the fighter who gets the decision fits an agenda, people dont care. look at wilder/fury, theres was a hell of a lot of 'fans' on here justifying that robbery. same as the pacquiao/horn one, kovalev/ward, ggg/canelo. the barbershop conversation presenter as good as said to andre ward we knew you got a gift in kovalev 1 but we defended you nd denied it because you were black. but its not just black fans, it everyone doing it with their fave fighters. As long as the fighter people want to win 'wins' and someone gets robbed and its an opportunity to say theyve been exposed, people dont care.
Exactly and that’s the problem no one gives a damn and until we all come togather and do something about it instead of just saying that’s boxing these decisions will keep happening and it will happen to anyone’s guy.
Check the history of corruption in the US then get back to me. It's been going on since the beginning of the new era when the queensbury rules were brought in. This is nothing new.
You'll still be here after the next 20 robberies that happen on US soil. And the next 20 after that as well.

The bad decisions take their toll man, and it gets demoralising, sure, but I just wanna say that in some ways it is more despicable when bad decisions happen at the amateur level, and especially when it happens to kids. Moreover, the fact that bad decisions happen at all levels of the sport indicates to me that the problem is SYSTEMIC. It makes some sort of sense that big-money fights have lopsided scorecards, but when you see hometown cooking at some tiny show, well that's when it really hurts
I like the idea of 'name&shame', I think social media could be a tool for good in this case, but just so long as there is also room to recognise the officials that do their job well. For all the talk of bad officiating, we would do well to remember that most officials (I would hope) are in the sport primarily because they love boxing
if people have their heads in the sand nothing gets done, people have been saying this for years, its only when its so obvious v fighters u like that u actually start noticing how bad it really is, people dont see robberies if they want the loser to lose or see it as a personal attack for whatever reason, on their country for example
Boxing fans are too immature, racist, nationalist, and obsessed to ever backlash against bad decisions in any meaningful way. No one actually gives a ****. The fighters don't care unless they are the one robbed, the managers don't care, the promoters don't care, none of the alphabet organizations care. The fans should care, but they're too busy sucking off whatever fighters they like or hating on whatever fighters they don't to care like they should.
Boxing is irreparably ****ed.
The truth. Never seen a sport where it’s fans don’t want change and go against anybody who saids “this doesn’t make any sense”
I can’t imagine a tennis fan who likes Roger Federer tell a Rafeal Nadal fan all this racist and nationalistic crap haha
Only boxing

A fight that we should look at is the Charlo-Tony Harrison fight. The judges scored the fight correctly and the right guy won. This fight is the only fight that I ever saw the challenger get the nod over a A side fighter being a close fight.
Other than that it’s fair to say that boxing has the worst fans of all sports. This poster wants change and a bunch of people just rag on him.
