Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York - Cuban heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz won his bout, taking a lopsided unanimous decision over Christian Hammer in a 10-round heavyweight match. Click Here To Read More]
Ortiz still won convincingly. He can fight but he's been made out to be far more of a threat than he actually is. Boxing is prize fighting, no roads go through or lead to Ortiz, he's a tricky fighter to face and he's been busted a few times. Why would people be queuing up to face him when they're nothing tangible they can gain?
Bull****..
Ortiz much better than Povetkin.
He got old, that was the problem, but the Povetkin vs Jammer was a boring fight Ortiz was more dangerous for Hammer... altough he is 40 years old
Lol, no chance.
Ortiz hasn't done anything of note as a pro. His best win is Jennings years ago and Jennings was decent at best.
Ortiz has fought 1 good opponent and 1 decent opponent in his career and he got flattened in one of those fights.
Fury is better than Ortiz. Povetkin too..

'Fights to level of competition' :lol1: damn is bryant jennings considered great competition now or something.
Jennings was highly ranked at the time.. are you serious?
So no more excuses that wilder had to be saved by the bell and looked in between rounds against OLD Ortiz then ? Is this the final narrative we are sticking with if OLD Klitschko lost to AJ ? HaHe was always old but now he is even older and showing signs of an older fighter. While his skills are not completely shot, he is still showing slight and subtle signs of a diminishing fighter on the decline.
That Wilder fight must have done a pretty good number on him. It took a lot out of him. It was his last hurrah.
However, make no bones about it. Ortiz still dominated the bout against Christian Hammer; Beating him just short of stopping him or knocking him out. Which has always been a very difficult thing to do given how strong and durable his chin is.
At this point, I concede that Joshua would be the easy favorite to win against this version of Luis Ortiz who showed up against Christian Hammer if the two ever fought.

Hammer threw and landed many more punches against Ortiz than he did against Povetkin. I think he realised quite early on that Ortiz couldn't hurt him, and he gave it a real go. But with Povetkin, he knew he couldn't afford to get hit clean, so he just focused on defence and survival.
Well, he isn't lying.
Fury is better than Ortiz. Povetkin too..
Of course, Fury and Povetkin.
Exactly this.
When you've been in the ring with a lion like Tyson Fury, you probably feel like you've seen it all, Ortiz is a great fighter, but Hammer fought Fury and Povetkin, two world class prizefighters, real killers.
Just a few ticks ago having a win over Hammer was good for the resume. Now it's a problem and evidence that he didn't get knocked out.
I also noticed how all roads lead back to some Wilder reference. Posters seem pressed to find something negative about Wilder, even when a fight or article has nothing to do with him.
Regarding the actual fight, Hammer came to survive, not win. Bragging that you've fought and lost to better is weird at best.
Watching the fight from pretty decent seats it seemed like Ortiz had injured his left hand. I credit Jim Gray for asking about it after the fight. Hammer actually landed quite a few rights and takes a hell of a punch. Ortiz should stay active and try and force a title shot by beating a Kownacki or Rivas. Time is not on his side.
Ortiz turns 40 this month and his best win is Bryant Jennings. Yet other heavyweights are proud to last the distance against him while losing every round.
Actually his best win was against the Castro regime.
Guys get old. Ortiz and Povetkin should fight it out for "The Gold Watch" belt. The loser gets the gold watch and a retirement party. The winner gets one more big fight.
Lol, I knew he was going to claim this BS. Ortiz didnt look impressive, but come on! Hammer was looking only to survive. Parring shots, backpedaling, just looking for that one shot and just avoiding to get knocked out.
You can clearly see at the end when he "felt he won" just by going 10 with Ortiz, lol
Yup. I always shake my head when a guy throws his hands up in the air victoriously celebrating the fact that he just got pummelled for 10 rounds.
Congratulations on standing.
if hes so terrible how come hes the third best heavy weight in the world?
#1 wilder
#2 ortiz
#3 hammer
#4 breazele
