ANTHONY YARDE fears no man as he targets a date with WBO light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev. But the Hackney-born boxer won't be rushed to world level until he feels like he can dominate the division. Yarde, 27, is 17-0 as a pro with 16 stoppages ahead of next Friday's WBO Inter-Continental title defence with American Travis Reeves at Royal Albert Hall. Click Here To Read More]
Just 12 amateur fights at least explains why Yarde is being moved slowly, but you can’t help the feeling any of the top 10 at light heavy will wipe him out.
It’s a really strong division at present and I just don’t see Yarde as being able to trouble Kovalev, or any of the title holders - or Buatsi who I’d happily put my house on beating him now let alone a few fights down the line.
Who told him to go pro when he was not ready, do you get paid at a job for just learning if that is the case make him fight eight rounders and say he is not ready to be Number 1 contender maybe i just sick of seeing hyped up fighters exposed :owned:
Looking forward to this first step up but yeah it's been a bit boring watching him against mismatched opponents and then being ranked no.1 or no.2 in the WBO without ever fighting a competitive fight.
If he was ranked no.10 then I think it wouldn't be so annoying but yeah I'm hoping for some step ups this year but he's being managed well so far, the LHW division is no joke. Maybe they're waiting for the Kovalev if he still has the title in a year and is 37 but there are no easy world title fights at 175.
This man and the people around him are plainly and simply deluded. You won't find a better example out there of "what is the definition of deluded?" Yarde has never fought a big puncher, never fought outside of international club fighter/journeyman class. They have climbed the ranks by taking soft opponents and answering no questions to some very important questions. How can you take these people seriously when they have ducked fights at Domestic and European level, in order to carry on facing tomato cans?
Mark my words, fish eyes will have him knocking out bums for 30 odd fights
He already compared him to Wilder in terms of amateur background and how many fights it took Wilder to finally fought someone with a pulse, so I wouldn’t be shocked if goes 35-0 before he stepped it up.
