Its absolutely disgusting that a former world champion turns up in that shape. Where's his pride? It shows how poor HW was back when he won the title.
He was over 40 pounds lighter then
Father time has caught up with Stiverne.
It's a bad idea to step in the ring in your 40s unless your name is Klitschko.
they get offered six figure contracts. sometimes seven. joshua opponents have made 10-15 million bucks. that's 8 figures!
so if a guy thinks either: A: i could really use this one more payday, i'll take the fight. or B: i can beat wilder. he's wide open and i can punch, and then i get joshua
then you get a fighter in his late 30's or even his 40's in the ring with a guy in his prime
Oh no doubt, a prime Vitali eats him alive. But coming off that fight with Charr I felt it was way more up in the air. Vitali dominated the fight, but in highsight it was like Wladimir-Jennings or something. Vitali looked really slow, was getting hit way more than usual, etc against Charr.... who was hot garbage.
At the time, I was thinking we were going to see Vitali get hit with the kitchen sink on his way to the W in a way we hadn't seen Lennox really.... and not for any other reason than Stiverne was pretty sharp and Vitali's reflexes were gone.
Yeah I kinda get what you’re saying, Vitali was beginning to look old. I’d still expect him to clearly beat Stiverne, but I guess he could’ve caused him some trouble though
Joyce is a little fat and Stiverne is very fat although not as fat as he was for Wilder. Stiverne is 39 years old and no longer has his heart in boxing. Joyce should easily win by KO.
he is 20 pounds heavier then he was for the wilder rematch
Really? Stiverne is tailor made for Vitali IMO. I always thought Stiverne was pretty decent myself, even picked him to beat Wilder (only the first fight obviously) but he’s too much of a plodder to trouble Vitali, he’d be eating the jab and 1-2 all night.

the sad thing is that he could lose 10 of those lbs f#cking easily, the guy is a pro athlete with nothing to do but train. after that it'd get tough, but even at his age he could, witht he right diet and if he actually went to the gym, get down to 240 lbs and at least have a puncher's chance against somebody like joe joyce, who is ponderous, telegraphs his shots, and is not a great or even very good fighter if you can make him miss.
An in shape and motivated Stiverne would give Joyce hell...
No doubt.
Vitali retired because it was time, but I've always believed knowing he had a real threat waiting for his mandatory shot definitely helped him make up his mind a little.
People can laugh all they want now, because hindsight is 20/20, but Stiverne looked like a sharp, smart, skilled heavyweight in that first Arreola fight.
But he was done with boxing the second those funds hit his account from the first Wilder fight.

There was a time when I thought Stiverne could have a really good run at HW with his catch and shoot counterpunching style and solid inside game. He had a very interesting skillset for a HW but since capturing the WBC I doubt he's even trained a day.
I have to hold my hands up and admit I was wrong despite tomorrows outcome. This guys a total slob.
So much for him taking this fight serious. One punch can change everything but his weight suggests he's just coming for a paycheque. Already lost interest in this one.
No doubt.

I thought I just read that he was 273...substantially heavier than he's ever been. Is this not so
He’s somehow in way worse shape than he was against Wilder 😬😬
Re
I dont know what Stiverne is doing in the locker room, to prepare for the fights...sleeping :lol1:. But it takes him half the fight to get warmed up. Very slow starter.
