Tyson Fury's proposed rematch with Deontay Wilder has been thrown into doubt after the Briton announced a deal with ESPN that makes it the "exclusive" broadcaster of his fights in the United States. Negotiations for a rematch, following December's controversial draw in Los Angeles, were expected to conclude in an agreement for them to fight in the US in May, but they are now likely to end in frustration given Wilder has a deal with Premier Boxing Champions, who are tied to Showtime and Fox Sports. Has anyone ever signed a multi fight deal and then had their biggest fight as their first outing?
I can't rememeber any on top of my head right now. Usually it would be your third fight.
Deontay has no promoter, Shelly Finkel is his manager.
Al Haymon is his adviser with ties to Showtime/FOX. However Wilder is LOYAL to Haymon but is this fight big enough to do a split cable outlet deal like Mayweather/Pacquiao or Tyson/Lewis.
This deal is dead unless it goes to purse bid, which Haymon and Arum/Warren run the risk of losing the fight because you know Matchroom and Golden Boy (both DAZN) are going to bid a future.
Since this isn't a true mandatory, I can see Fury walking away from the fight unless the bidder pays a future. Wilder doesn't have that luxury, if he walks, he's stripped.
Its a fight that has been mandated by the WBC. If the fight wasn't mandated then Wilder would have walked like you pointed out.
Now Fury holds all the cards unless he walks away from the mandated fight.
PBC/Showtime better comes with that 50m dollars they claimed they have for AJ if this fight goes to purse bid.
That’s true as more networks are now promoting these fighters but that’s if the fight happens. Frank Warren thinks AJ vs Fury is 50/50.. How??? One guys isn’t even a champ and the other is a unified chanp, AJ is simply a bigger name, generates more money and has more belts.. Just being one of those things would make him A side let alone being all of those thing together.
Wilder is also demanding 50/50.. You don’t have be a fan of AJ but fact is he is the A side and unless these delusional fighters and promoters stop pricing themselves out and wake up and realise this, the fight will never happen. Tyson said AJ has to come fight him on ESPN.. Seriously he’s a guy with no belts and he’s calling the bigger star to come fight him on his network?? The fight won’t happen guys.
Now it’s time for Fury to fight tomatoe cans
....along with chefs & security guards. Warren may not want his new prized possession takin' a lickin' even if he does happen to win (again). If Furys healthy enough to make decent money, then Warren won't want Wilder potentially giving Fury reason to fall back into depression - from serious new head trauma - from getting knocked down three more times - or out.....Warren might do an 'Eddie' to hold on to as much money as possible.....Because Eddie has set the blueprint for greed among the heavyweights in this era :439:
This fight ain't happening. The AJ vs Miller fight is looking like the HW fight of the year at this point. Wilder gonna have to fight Stiverne again haha that's some bullsh** lol... I hope Fury and Wilder part 2 happens otherwise the HW division is gonna suck if AJ, Wilder and Fury don't fight each other.
