Suddenly cast as a co-promoter of an unbeaten heavyweight he describes as a “generational talent,” Bob Arum on Monday admitted it might make the most sense to delay his fighter Tyson Fury’s rematch with Deontay Wilder until later this year.

Wilder vs Breazeale it is. Fury vs… Pulev?
Rivas is getting close to a title shot. Why would Arum want to mess that up?
Tom Schwarz is the opponent that makes the most sense.
Wonder how he knew a month and a half in advance that Tyson Fury would be fighting Tom Schwarz next.
Wilder said he'll fight on ESPN. Arum is saying Wilder has to sign a network contract with ESPN. That ain't happening
Wilder said he's a free agent so it's still up to him. If the offer is too good then he could sign there and the fight is still saved.
Fight is not lost yet. Top Rank has sent the offer to Wilder for the fight with Fury. Arum is trying to make the fight but on his terms and the fight will be held at ESPN, there's no way around this.
Let's wait and find out if this deal sent to Wilder is any good. If it is, Wilder should accept it, no ifs or buts. The objective here for us is to see the fight at all cost not to favor any of the two promoters who are trying to enrich themselves. No tribal mentality please. We need to see the fight. We don't care where the fight happens it just needs to happen, we are not bidnessmen here.
They shouldn't allow somebody else to have a monopoly. Arum did what's best for him and his fighters, but that's not best for fans.
I 100% agree. I don't think the solution is to blame Arum simply for signing Fury the way some people have.
If Arum didn't negotiate in good faith, then you can blame him but we haven't got to that stage yet.
I don't disagree but at the same time, why should other people step aside so someone else can have the monopoly.

Monopolies are bad for consumers normally, but not in sports. Monopolies are bad for fighters, but good for fans.
The competition in sports allow fighters to get good deals and better treatment, but not the events fans want. The NBA getting a monopoly on basketball was good for the fans.
The UFC getting a monopoly on MMA was good for fans. We didn't have to cry for Brock Lesnar vs Fedor type fights anymore, or the NBA champs vs the ABA champs.

Sucks that the fight isn't happening. Though I do find it funny people are blaming Arum for this.
Is he supposed to pass up making money so someone else can make money? I want to see the best fights too but for some reason, people think the solution is to create a monopoly instead of having people actually working together.
If the fight doesn't happen, it's because Arum AND Haymon didn't work together. Not that it's Arum's fault because he signed Fury.

Meh, they will still need one of the four world titles.
they'll get one eventually when joshua vacates, but in the meantime they'll push the **** out of lineal. remember arum orchestrated that whole lineal run with foreman with no real belts.
But somehow Haymon and PBC will get the blame like always.
Everyone knows the Arum is the anti-fan promoter. He never makes the big fights happen, in fact he destroys them.
Hearn, Haymon, and Golden Boy are the ones who are delivering the big fights.
If any of these three fight each other now, the broadcast situation will be very complicated.
Maybe they'll just never fight each other. PBC, Top Rank and DAZN will all have their own heavyweight champion.
Top Rank is going to need one of their fighters to get a belt. Pulev nor Rivas are the ones that will get a title, unless Joshua vacates. This is why if they want one badly, they have a chance to get it with the Wilder fight.
And what happens if/when DAZN/Sky Sports win the purse bid against Fury? Then what? Will ESPN just let him fight on that network as well as BT Sports? If he wants a title, then easy, go fight Wilder next. That fight has already been ordered.

Ughh...
We know Fury isn't fighting anyone good.
Hopeully its Wilder-Whyte over Wilder-Brezeale, but I doubt it as long as Brezeale has been waiting, and Wilder-Breeze already have drama so there you go
Hasn't Breazeale agreed to fight Whyte? Why is he still mentioned as Wilder's next alternative fight?
Publicly he has shown interest in it, but fight hasnt been announced/formalized at all. The Breazeale-Whyte WBC order was contingent on Wilder/Fury2 happening I believe, so he can still serve as Wilder's mandatory on May 18. Also its the easiest for Showtime to make happen on that date
