Dan Rafael's Show "The Boxing Beat" Got Axed?

I cannot for the life of me understand how Dan keeps his jobs. No one really likes him. His opinions stink, and he's not that great of a writer. He's obviously not attractive on the mike..it's very very weird. He's a jew sooooooooooo maybe it's that??? I think he’s very well connected within media circles. I done my first degree in journalism and in that trade it’s very much who you know not what you know.

I don’t get it either man, I mean I can understand a fighter having an ego but a journalist... he must have some kind of superiority complex. I actually enjoy Max’s stuff on ESPN, not watched a massive amount of his boxing content but I’m an NBA fan and always enjoy him and Stephen A going at it on sportscenter. Dan rafael needs to be axed. The dood does the absolute bare minimum for the sport. Has the most marquee job working for ESPN. He's fat and lazy and doesn't know boxing. He's also an *******. Brian campbell was better, and they made him leave.

For sure, Roy is the best. Like WTF has Dan done to have that type of ego? Dude relax, you just write for ESPN. There is literally nothing special about his writing or how he breaks stories. Anyways, once Max got to ESPN, it was clear he was going to get a pretty big role and they are putting him on the ESPN boxing telecasts as well as giving him his own show. This is where Max made his money on early in his career on ESPN. He will do a good job I'm sure. im sure that’s how it will work out. Plus Dan’s show looked low budget. I only watched it twice. Max’s will be a lot higher quality I’m sure. I bet it will be better than Fox’s show too. Considering that show isn't all that good, it shouldn't be hard to be better.

Yeah exactly, I’m obviously a huge Roy fan but he is genuinely one of the nicest fighters I’ve met, so passionate about the sport. Most fighters are sound tbf, guys who you dislike can massively change your opinion, I remember meeting Bellew who I can’t stand in boxing but outside of it he’s one of the most down to earth fellas you could meet. Dan's show was fine for the time being as they wanted some boxing content on ESPN+, but I doubt it was doing all that many numbers and now that they have the UFC, his show isn't needed. You don't need two different ESPN shows. Max will take care of it on ESPN2. Dan can make some guest appearances from time to time. Everyone leaves happy.im sure that’s how it will work out. I get me wants clicks on his article, but no need for that in that situation. Compare that to guys like RJJ who will take a picture with ANYONE and will talk boxing for hours with fans. He’s a d*** in person as well man, when I was last in Vegas he was standing in front of me at the merch stand and some young kid goes up to him and asks for his prediction on the Canelo-GGG rematch and he replied “if you want my prediction, read my stories bro”. I think on the show itself....For at least the episodes I watched, he was fine. Was respectful to the interviewer and didn't really try to make it seem like he was better than the rest. It just wasn't a high quality show as I mentioned though. First, the show was taking place in his basement, then they moved it but it wasn't all that much better. Like if they were serious about the show, the production would have been better. And those skype interviews were killer. I was just informed that "The Boxing Beat will not longer continue on ESPN+.I hope this is not a discouragement from including other Boxing Podcasts (There are some good ones out there) or shows on ESPN+.— BarbosaBox BarbosaBox) February 7, 2019 Well, that didn't last long. I watched some of the episodes early on as I thought they were pretty solid but I can't say I watched an episode in the last few months. The show was just meh, and the interviews through skype were suspect. They used to tick me off to the point I just stopped watching the show completely. Max on the other hand has his show on ESPN2 on Friday's I believe. I wonder if they make Dan a guest on that show from time to time? First the man lost his chat, and now he loses his show. Too amateurish, not worth the trouble to put together. They made the right call. Same man, it was so bad. Sometimes you had a fighter in the car with a small delay and it drove me nuts lol. It just wasn't a high quality show. Was fine for the short-term until UFC came to town, but now that they dominate ESPN+, no need for Dan's show. They have a more important boxing show on ESPN2 with Max running it.

How the hell did he lose his chat? I mean it seriously doesnt cost any money for ESPN to have the chat. Whack. That chat was informative and entertaining usually. ESPN retired the software used to keep the chat going, which had been in place since like 2003. Apparently Rafael was the last person at ESPN using it....
