Team Canelo ducked GGG vacated his belt..Said they needed to get used to 160lb then fought Khan..Moved down fought Liam..Moved back up fought Chavez then Finally fought GGG...And everybody forgave him...
So if Keith Thurman has tune up vs Lopez..Fights Porter or Manny then fights Spence will yall forgive him too?
B4 anybody say he gonna fake injury retire or duck him...Lets not forget all the antics from team Canelo before he finally stepped up. And atleast Keith and Spence will still be in their primes u like GGG vs Canelo
After the smith fight canelo and Oscar said they had already made a big offer to golovkins team a YouTube reporter asked Tom Loeffler if it was true about the offer and he confirmed it was true and that it was for more than 12 million that was rumored and about the 50-50 around that time ggg went on espn a los golpes and bernardo osuna asked him if it was true he requested 50-50 and he said for this fight to happen it needs to be 50-50 there was no public pressure put on ggg to drop that ridiculous demand
Can you link us in to that my man. I can't find any trace of that interview... doubt there would have been much public pressure if few people knew about it... damn I follow the news as close as anyone and I hadn't heard about it.
Either way Oscar still gave the reason for the cessation of negotiations as being due to legal problems, not the financial split.
What we do have is this from June 2016 indicating that fall 2017 was the GBP plan all along...
https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/boxing/canelo--ggg-agree-to-fight--but-you-re-going-to-have-to-wait-224944045.html?guccounter=1
"It would be great if we had some binding agreement, but we don't," he said. "I did meet with Golden Boy and they want to build the fight and shoot for the fall of 2017. From our side, we're going to continue to try to put together the biggest fights for Gennady. Both sides want to make the fight, but it is a mischaracterization to say there is a deal."
Many within the sport regard it as the best high-profile match that currently can be made, and have for nearly a year. But a source told Yahoo Sports that though Alvarez defeated Cotto last year to win the linear middleweight title, he still doesn't feel fully comfortable at the weight. Both of Alvarez's middleweight fights have been held at a catchweight of 155, or a pound over the super welterweight limit of 154.
The 15-month delay of pushing the bout to 2017 will allow Alvarez to get comfortable fighting as a fully fledged middleweight and to help Golovkin build his name
Furthermore even the '8 figure' flat fee offer made to GGG in September 2016 was for a fight in, yes, fall 2017.
Golden Boy CEO Oscar De La Hoya boasted at the post-fight press conference following Canelo’s win that he made an “eight-figure offer” to Gennady Golovkin promoter Tom Loeffler a month ago and never heard back for a fight next September.
De La Hoya mapped out a schedule for Canelo to possibly fight in December in New York and again in May and then “the big fight” with Golovkin next fall.
https://www.******.com/465555-oscar-says-made-eight-figure-offer-ggg/ (RING T V dated 18th September 2016)
So basically all sources point to Oscar and GBP wanting the fight to happen exactly when it eventually did, which makes it rather puzzling when folk keep insisting that somehow it was Golovkin that held it up despite common sense suggesting that the fight couldn't come soon enough for GGG as he neared his 35th year without a marquee name on his ledger.
Which is all cool. Alvarez, as both the challenger (having dropped the belt) and A side was absolutely within his rights, and (history has shown) probably wise to do as he did, but it doesn't really point the finger of blame at Golovkin as it appears you're trying to do.
Do you have a bit more detail on these multiple offers? Ain't quite how I recall things going down. Way I remember it Canelo dropped his belt, giving the reason that he wasn't going to be be forced to the WBCs schedule, before any real negotiations took place although there had been the usual back and forth in the media. Further negotiations then ceased due - according to Oscar - to Canelo's unresolved legal problems with his former promoter.
Not quite sure the version of events you describe quite tells the same story as Oscar and Canelo did, so I'm wondering what sources you used?
As to demands for 50/50 there is this from late 2016:
http://ucnlive.com/tom-loeffler-expects-impactful-2017-ggg/
...but i don't recall seeing any reports from 2016 that GGG was demanding 50/50 although it was a number of folk ran with that claim to blame Golovkin after Canelo said he wasn't going to be forced by the WBC into 'artificial deadlines'. Perhaps I missed some articles that show GGG demanded a half share?

This is what I was wondering too... Keiths a good fighter but he's has long time off. Isn't absolutely normal to have a tune up or two after that kind of lay-off?
Even if it weren't I think Keith still probably has as good a resume as anyone at 147 despite having 2 years out... makes you wonder what these other guys have been doing while Keiths been roaming the world with his flute and banging his pretty new Missus.
Thats the thing, zero knock from me. And it should be like that to anyone. Like you pointed out, he has been away for two years injured. Let him have his tune ups and get back to where he wants to be.
Before he left he fought the better names and beat them, so let him get back in the mix, as there isn't an clear lead even when he was away.
What is there to forgive? I don't get it. Did he fail a drug test or something?

Not the same situation Keith let everyone know he won't fight Spence in 2018 and 19 canelo made ggg multiple offers to fight and refused to negotiate on weight then when canelo agreed to ggg preferred weight ggg refused the fight over money.ggg could of got the fight sooner but he and his team got greedy

“I just spoke to (Golden Boy President) Eric Gomez today, so we’re also in continuing discussions and that fight – if it happens – we’re targeting September 2017 and hopefully we can make that fight. That’s the biggest fight commercially in the sport of boxing. I think both sides would win in that situation. It’s a tremendous fight and it would be the biggest fight in the United States and we’ll try everything from our side to try to make that happen,” said Loeffler, who says their side has a full understanding that, in this equation, they are the B-side to “Canelo.”
“That hasn’t been an issue from our side,” Loeffler clearly stated. “We just want to get the fight. We’ve conceded that Golden Boy would be the lead promoter, that Canelo would get the lion’s share of the monies. We just want to get the fight for Gennady. Gennady brings his titles. He’s got his world titles he can bring with him and Canelo said he’d meet him at middleweight. So there aren’t a lot of obstacles in making that fight.”

But at first Spence fought nobody when he fought Brook Thurman was fighting Porter then Garcia...Before that they was wanting him to just fight him b4 he earned his shot.
ggg also fought nobody before jacobs. . canelo already had big names and also high risk low reward fights on his resume...
Canelo had not fought at 160 lbs until he fought Chavez at 164. It’s not entirely fair to ask him to move up and face the #1 guy in his first fight at 160
Thurman has been at Spence’s weight class for years

Not entirely true, ggg refused to put his titles on the line for a catchweight fight, canelo didn’t wanna fight without the titles.... both were too blame for the fight not happening
Canelo had dropped the weight demand and the belt and was still in negotiations.ggg was trying to use the belts as leverage for a 50-50 split it was canelo that told him he could keep his belts and would fight him without them on the linel.the wbc made a stupid mistake putting a 15 day deadline on negotiations and backing ggg on the crazy financial demands.all the pressure from fans and media was on canelo and GBP to make the fight but none was put on ggg and his promoter to make concessions like canelo and every other fighter did before him the same situation is going on right now with aj and wilder the fans and media are trying to make the guy that took all the risk and alone brings in all the money give a undeserving unknown protected fighter a crazy split

I don't think he has done anything really wrong except to cherry pick Lopez and then look terrible in beating him. If he fights Porter or Manny and then Spence he would be doing what a good champion is supposed to do. I think he might lose to Porter or Manny and I am sure he would lose to Spence.
Ducking 3 fights isn’t that bad tbh
1.5 years?
That seems pretty normal
Keith been “injured” longer than that
But who are we to judge his injury and recovery tho...He already was fighting injured like most fighters.

Ok i can agree with that...But i remember Canelo getting alot of hate and ridicule for a time period like Keith..
Cuda sworn Canelo ducked GGG for 3 fights then when they finally fought He CHANGED HIS WHOLE out of nowhere. And fought scared some could say.

He's clearly not what he used to be and a win over him now doesn't mean too much. I'd rather him take his time and give us the best version of himself and thus give the fans the best fight possible.
^^^ Real boxing fan with common sense ...and not a silly fanboy or hater lol. Thurman needs to shake off this obvious ring rust before fighting Spence..At that elite level of fighting the smallest things make the biggest diffrence! Common fcking sense...DUH!!!
People just want him to lose...Dude came back after a two year layoff and expect him to jump in with the #1 147 fighter? But say nothing about the other 3 to 4 "ACTIVE" fighters not fighting each other?
.....AGENDA....At this point Thurman can be considered a cherrypick if Spence fought him him now!!!
Porter got challenged in the ring to his face..and somehow end up not fighting Spence..now waiting on Thurman......That was swept under the rug like nothing happened.

Spence will be in his prime still. Keith should take as many fights as he needs to get back into form (provided he can still attain that form). As usual, boxing fans will give credit and fans of boxers might not

Difference is Keith fights like a coward, running like a sissy against bums. He will never be respected for fighting scared like he does now. He just needs to retire.
