Heavyweight contender Joe ‘Juggernaut’ Joyce’s manager Sam Jones says there’s a 95% chance that he’ll be facing former world title challenger Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz (30-1, 26 KOs) in 2019.
This seems like a fight they both really need to get themselves into the mix with the top 3.
A lot of people are saying it's too early for Joyce, and that could be true but he doesn't have a lot of time on his side. Even though I don't rate his skills highly I do think his combination of punching power, size, strength, stamina, work rate and an iron chin put him in a great position to break down and stop old man Ortiz.
That's the thing... He looks very strong and solid, gives You impression of someone with proper chin - but reality is He hasn't yet faced anyone in the pros that would test it - and He was knocked out by Sergey Kuzmin in amateurs...
..With his style, He'll need iron chin that's for sure.
I saw him getting knocked out by an Algerian dude at the 2013 WC. And it wasn't your typical amateur stoppage, he got dropped hard by huge hooks and was badly hurt. I think he does have a good chin, but all it takes is one big punch. He will get hurt when he steps up.
I'd like to believe it - but I've seen some interviews with that guy - Joyce's manager.
I think He's a type of loud-mouth that will say those kind of things to keep Joyce relevant..
I saw Joyce against Usyk in amateurs. I'm not so sure They want to fight capable southpaw counter-puncher. Not a good style...
I'll give Joyce a lot of credit if He takes it. Ortiz too - would show that both are real competitors.

Great points. Completely agree...
Boxrec has Joyce ranked 28th in the world and Ortiz ranked 8th in the world. A win over Ortiz would raise Joyce up a lot but a win over Joyce raises Ortiz up very little.
Do you actually place any weight on the Boxrec ratings? They’re extremely unreliable IMO

This Sam Jones always comes out with these type of statements despite having no standing in the boxing industry. He’s not even a real manager, he’s just a hype man. None of what he spews has any validity.

It's a blocked (competing) website. Just google the thread title.
Found it. We shall see if it happens. I hope it does cause it will give us a good litmus test on where Joyce is. On experience I'd pick Ortiz though
