Would be a genuinely fascinating fight. I'd be surprised if Usyk's team went for it though.
But "rumours online" means someone posted it somewhere, then someone else started a thread somewhere.
The rumours this thread is based on are as credible as if this thread was started without any such rumours.
Breidas is a faster puncher and fights better on the inside then Ortiz. Bellew was not beating Usyk..he isn't going to let bigger punchers get positioning on him. Usyk plays to his opponents weaknesses he will exploit Ortiz who has trouble hurting moving targets.
Briedis is coming off a fight he probably should've lost and didn't look too great against Mike Perez either. Ortiz is a better boxer than him in every way possible. Ortiz either schools or knocks out the level of opponents Briedis struggles with.
Ortiz is probably the most complete guy at HW, he has deadly hooks and uppercuts inside which he's KO'd opponents with like Jennings.
You're sorely mistaken if you think he's comparable to a 24 year old Gassiev who had just 25 amateur fights and 0 international experience. Ortiz is not going to get neutralized like he did, he's basically a MUCH better version of Briedis.
Joyce is much bigger then Ortiz and throws in volume punching , he overwhelms guys. Ortiz doesn't he counter punches in spurts so it will be a stylistic advantage for Usyk .
Joyce is one of the slowest guys in the division though, and at the stage he fought Usyk, he'd have lost to any top 30 HW.
Usyk has actually struggled with counter punchers and some of the best shots I've seen him hit with were by counters. Look at Bellew-Briedis, Bellew was beating him and Briedis nearly pulled off the upset.
Ortiz isn't some 1 dimensional, undersized guy like Gassiev either, he's a gifted boxer puncher, from the southpaw stance no less.
Usyk said to hell with tuneups. he wanna swim with sharks right away. Ortiz will test that chin like its never been tested before. but props to Usyk, not even Juicy J wanted to fight King Kong.
Yeah Povetkin seems more of his lane for the first fight maybe Takam since he is also with Matchroom
Exactly these fools think Usyk is some untouchable fighter, when he catches a bomb from a real heavyweight he will know how out of depth he is!
Plan is fight Lebedev at 200, move up to heavyweight and fight Pulev or Takam then one more fight and then fight AJ!
I smell a Wilder fan.
I don't remember Joe Joyce catching Usyk, and that guy is bigger than Ortiz and hits at least as hard.
If you can actually get past your personal bias you won't be surprised when Usyk makes easy work of the plodding old man.
Joyce was garbage when he fought Usyk, practically every HW that Usyk fought at that stage has improved leaps and bounds since then. Usyk was already an established, well experienced amateur, the other guys weren't. Joyce was able to hit Usyk and he's 1/12th the boxer Ortiz is.
Sounds like people are rating Ortiz higher than Povetkin. How and when has that ever been the case?
Pedvetkin literally hasn't beaten a top 10 HW in the past decade lol. His best wins in the past 10 years have been Huck-Takam-Perez.
-Huck had 0 fights at HW.
-Mike Perez had already been beaten by Jennings (And admitted he was literally drunk in the ring against Pedvetkin)
-Chisora performed as well as Pedvetkin did against Takam.
Extremely overrated fighter.
Joyce is nowhere near the fighter Ortiz is. Props to Usyk for taking this fight but it’s a mistake
:lol1: Where is all this bull**** hype for Ortiz coming from? He hasn't beaten a single fighter of note in his entire pro career.
Usyk is multiple levels above Ortiz, not to mention Ortiz is turning 40 this year. The speed difference alone is so huge that Ortiz is gonna be hitting fresh air all night long.
I think the thread starter is full of shyte, no way team Usyk pick Ortiz for his first heavyweight fight. On the outside chance this is true, full credit to Usyk for choosing such a tough opponent.
