I am just curious to how much these guys made for their fight including what they made from the PPV revenue.
I am assuming in the anywhere from $8-15 million for both guys. Not sure though. Anyone have a better idea?
Here’s a few recent fights as a comparison, all these at U.K. prime time.
Whyte Chisora 438,000
Whyte Parker 474,000
Kell Brook Errol Spence 275,000
Frampton quigg 220,000
Klitschko fury 545,000

Yeah, I've seen the released numbers. Whyte/Parker doing 474k is the most surprising to me of them all. Like WTF? How did that fight do that much? Granted, Parker was coming off the Joshua fight where he accounted for himself well, but definitely wasn't expecting that.
Edit: Of course the link doesn't work put it is world boxing news no spaces that is blanked out.

Trying to argue that 5am in the morning fury would be competing at the upper end of those numbers is a difficult one, but if he truly is or did then there would be no debate about the next fight percentages because it would swing significantly in fury’s favour. In fact a fight at wembley and over 1 mil U.K. ppv would be probably more sensible than anything else?
I would watch that interview again if I were you, he is talking about how it come make the numbers they need and before the venue or timings or any details was announced. Therefore his assumption BT could make £5 million was Guess work on how they could make enough money to fund the fight rather than actually really estimating properly.
Either way 200,000 would be a huge surprise. Like I said before 100,000 would be a really impressive achievement but unlikely given the time, who he is, and the cost. There was no undercard to get people to stay up and BT didn’t allow people to pay and record the fight - you literally had to be up live.
I never said Hearn said AFTER the fight the fight made 5M from UK buys, but that this was his prediction BEFORE the fight.
"Don't forget, don't forget, UK PPV is strong on BT. So that would bring in 5M to Fury."
Hearn wouldn't be talking about UK PPV being strong if it was only expected to do 100k buys. Clearly, he was expecting in the 400k range that I mentioned.
Now what it did? No damn clue, hence why I said earlier I'd have a better guess of what both fighters made if the UK buys were known. But it has been over a month and not one journalist has wrote an article of the amount of buys the fight did.
No, Hearn clearly is saying that BT Sports PPV will bring in 5M.
After mentioning his prediction for US PPV buys for the fight would be 100-200k. Then said 200k would bring in 6M US buys taking out the cable distributors cut. So to get to that number he went 200k*60 = 12M/2=6M.
So yeah, fair to say he expected the fight to do about 400k UK buys. That's the only way you could come up with the "bring in 5M for Fury."

Why would hearn predict that number? I never saw any such thing. If he did I would have presumed he was talking about overall buys.
400k for comparison wouldn’t be far off what Chisora Whyte did which would be at prime time and to the casual fan much more followed. Fury has definitely improved his brand following the fight, including his speech at the bbc awards but that was following the fight.
Only Joshua would realistically do decent numbers in middle of night at moment for all U.K. fighters in ppv format (or a mcgregor mayweather style).
Frank warren in his ifltv interview said they hadn’t got numbers yet but they weren’t as good as they could’ve been. That suggests to me that he doesn’t want to release the number (why would they not have the number yet?) and it was much lower than they thought.
I therefore can’t see how it would be above 100,000 based on those comments from Frank, and quite possibly considerably less.
I consider myself a reasonable boxing fan but I wasn’t going to risk getting up middle of night, paying £20 for one fight (the ubdercard wasn’t worth watching) and knowing how terrible fury fights are usually. So therefore many others would have done the same.

By your calculations that’s 34m dollars in the pot. If network takes 10%, distributors 50% that = 60% of the pot ($20,400,000). Not only that but neither fighter sees any cut of the PPV if it’s under 250k, they get a cut of the 75k... no way either fighter see anything close to $8m.
I'm not sure how you are getting that. SHO is taking $1.2 million from the US PPVs after the cable distributors get their share. So around 11M for the fighters. 5.1M from the UK buys. Let's say BT Sports gets a similar 10% cut or let's give them close to a million. So then you have 4M of the the 5.1M going to the fighters. Then add in the live gate of around 4M and the sponsorship/international revenue of another 4-5M.
Even when paying SHO/BT Sports and the UC fighters, they definitely surpass the 8M mark that you are mentioning.
Now, if the fight did 100k UK buys and NOT around 400k buys? Then it gets closer and they may have ended up making less than 10M each. Would still surpass the 8M mark.
But again, why the hell can no journalist in the UK get the PPV numbers? No one has ANY sources with the PPV distributors? Not even one freaking leak? Will these numbers show up on BARB or that is only Sky Sports PPVs/
100k?? Really???? Any source on that? Even before the fight, Hearn was predicting they would do around 400-500k buys.
But if it did 100k obviously that would alter the numbers.

Why would you think U.K. buys were 400k, all indications are lower than 100k from interviews with. Frank warren and co. That makes sense to be honest it was a ppv inn middle of the night and Fury doesn’t have a following like Joshua.
Joshua wouldn’t even sell 400k if he fights in America. No casual is staying up at 4/5am for Joshua to fight. Some might do but the number would be quite low. So 400k is BS especially with Fury.

Wilder was guaranteed $4 mil and Fury $3 mil.
The total amount each of them gets doesn't usually double the guaranteed purse.
So each one got less than $8 mil.
We've gone through this discussion before and even the WBC WBA IBF poster concurs.
I repeat there is zero way anyone of those two made anything over 8m dollars. Unless everyone else wants to work for free. Firstly their PPV number might be an inflated one. Secondly even if those number isn’t inflated and it sold 400k the fighters only get a cut from the 150k, that doesn’t even mean they take all those 150k PPV home, the 250k is to break even according to sources. Mathematically there is no way you can see the numbers adding him. Unless Al Haymon wants to add free money onto each fighters purse underneath.
No, they would have cleared that if both got a 50/50 split.
US buys 325,000*75=24,375,000/2 = 12,187,500
Live gate $3.5-4 million
UK buys ~400,000*25.5 = 10,200,000/2 = 5,100,000
I estimated on the UK buys, but that is probably about right. If even less than that, I didn't take into consideration the international revenue and sponsorship money. Now, SHO/BT Sports will get their split as well as paying the UC fighters, but both guys should have cleared $10 million.
Now, I would love for someone to be able to give us the UK numbers. No clue why no journalist out there has done the research to find out.

So networks get 10% of the share after cable distributors get their amount. So of the 12,187,500, they would get 10% of that.
Cable distributors take 50% tops, sometimes less. UFC negotiated a deal where they will be getting 60-70% of the revenue on certain PPVs. No clue what the split here was, but let's be in the safe side and say it was the typical 50%. Then SHO takes 10% of the remaining revenue.
So yes, even with my numbers they would have cleared 10 million each. Remember, I didn't even include the sponsorship money or international revenue which could have totaled what, 4-5 million in total?

But you're forgetting th promoters cut, ads, press tours etc. They aren't free.
So that part comes from the fighters purses. Doesn't mean they won't make 10 million. From that 10 million obviously after taxes and the manager/promoter cuts they won't end up with that, but the definitely ended up getting more than 7-8 million.
Mayweather supposedly made close to 300M against Pacquiao, but he sure didn't walk away with 300M after all the deductions.
Edit: I'm referring to promoter/advisor cuts here.
SHO was responsible for the ads stateside. That comes from them not the fighters. All the promotion/marketing they do, obviously they hope they are able to cover it from what they make from the fight. And if they can't cover all the expenses from what they make, the money comes from their boxing budget.
Wilder/Fury makes way more than Wilder/AJ right now.
It could if Wilder/Fury does close to a million buys. But we don't even know what the US network situation would look like. Will there be a SHO afternoon PPV or will DAZN just give a license fee for the fight?
I also expect the live gate this time in Vegas to be close to 10 million for the rematch which will be fairly close to Wilder/AJ gate at Wembley.
Definitely a pathway for Wilder/Fury to generation more money than Wilder/AJ but too many questions to answer. What if it is on DAZN (doubtful) and they throw a $15 million license fee? Or if it is on SHO PPV and it still does around 300k buys?
If Wilder wins and it does close to a million buys? He will be able to go back and ask for 50/50 split. Or at least much better to whatever he can ask for now.
There is no way they would clear 10m dollars from your numbers here. What percentage does the network get? The distributors? From what I heard American networks take between 45 to 55% distributors, networks 10%. I could be wrong doe.

It was BS. They'd make a big song and dance about it and get the good publicity if he actually did it.
I doubt he would actually do that. I have no doubt that he could give some of it to charity doe. On the subject of earnings looking at the guarantees of each fighter, PPV cut, ticket and sponsorship I doubt anyone of them would make anything more than 7/8m dollars.
Thanks, damn that's a shame if Fury was just saying it for the cameras, haven't heard anything about it since the fight though, so I guess that may actually be the case
I have no idea but I would like to know myself. If Wilder can make more money fighting AJ in England than he can rematching Fury then why not do that unless he doesn't think he will win. If he beats AJ he can rematch Fury later.
Wilder/Fury makes way more than Wilder/AJ right now.
