WHAT a year 2018 has been for British boxing. World champions, dramatic fights and new heroes emerged in a fascinating 12 months. The two standout stars of the year for me have to be Tyson Fury and Josh Warrington for different reasons. Fury's comeback from contemplating suicide to taking on WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is not only one of the great boxing tales of the year but also an unbelievable sporting story. AJ would do better against Fury than Wilder simply because he's less predictable. He'd go to the body, reel off combos and actually box. Wilder abandoned the plan and went looking for the shot the whole fight. I hope he's not turning into one of those with the mentality of 'I have 12 rounds to land one big shot'.
It's pretty obvious that Joshua wants nothing to do with Fury. He knows he'll get dominated both inside and outside the ring. He prefers to pick easier targets like Whyte and Wilder.
Quack Quack
Every bad dream that AJ has about Wilder. What ever caused him to run from $50 mil. All of it is true. Wilder knocked Fury out. The only thing that saved him is his short attention span. AJ eats right hands to where he throws 1,3s.
I don’t think Fury can take that same shot again and get up. I will definitely admit I was one of the AJ fans that thought he would be put to sleep by a windmill.I wanted Wilder to win. However, you know when you watch a fight and you have a favourite but the way the other guy is fighting you are totally won over by him. Fury is the man. I’m quite proud of him but he gets knocked out by a six punch combo when he faces Joshua
The end
The right hand from Wladimir Kiltchko which decked Anthony Joshua had more power vividly, in my opinion. Deontay Wilder was tired! But it is hard to judge who is more durable out of Fury & Joshua. I think Deontay Wilder & Dillian Whyte have the same kind of punch resistance, maybe Whyte just that bit more.
Joshua and Hearn are too domesticated for the Gypsy King. Hearn and AJ won't even be able to handle the press conference let alone the fight. LMAOOOOOO
Prefer AJ to big Tyson overall.
But AJ doesn’t beat Fury in month of Sunday’s.
Neither does Wilder tbh.
Both of those will always be looking for the 1 shot.
It was a great fight and there is still a buzz about it a month later. It was much better than Mayweather-Pacquiao, and Joshua-Parker was abysmal. One of the best fights of the year by the two best heavyweights in the world, both of whom would easily be favored against any other fighter. Not a masterpiece, but a great fight that lived up to, and exceeded, the hype.
Fury doesn't need any more tune-ups and he fought no differently than he did against Klitschko, Chisora and Cunningham. But it would be advisable to take a lighter touch after the Wilder fight.
Yeah I agree with you. Obviously not the part about baby oil Wilder
I told everyone that Fury was under rated before the Wilder fight. All the Joshua fans were saying he be KO'd early, now you've all seen his boxing skill, you're doubting if Joshua could beat him. He couldn't.
Joshua wouldn't be getting up like Fury when Wilder landed a big shot either.

If you are referring to the Wilder/Fury fight then totally agree, if you are referring to the Wlad/Fury fight then totally disagree.
I was referring to Wilder-Fury being a great fight. Agree that Klitschko-Fury was eventful but forgettable.

The fight stunk period. Masterclass is different to masterpiece. The fight wasn’t a masterpiece, Fury performance was a masterclass. The number of punches landed was terrible, the variety of punches landed was terrible. The actual sweet science which I follow and love was on display from Fury. But the actual fight was nothing to write home about.
I wouldn’t call Mayweather/Pacman fight a masterpiece, I wouldn’t call Joshua/Parker a masterpiece. So again am not criticising Fury or Wlad, am a massive fan of Fury (Still a bit iffy about his drug test failure doe)

Fury made a fan out of us. He wasn't fully fit and went for Wilder knowing that Wilder cannot KO his dead body. I respect him and believe that he won that fight and gave Joshua a reason never to fight in the US considering that the Judges there would rob him. Meanwhile, I believe Fury-Joshua is another fight different from that of the American bum. Give us that fight Hearn-Warren. We need it
I don’t think Fury should fight either Joshua or Wilder next. They should actually build his profile now. And get him properly match fit. A match fit Fury doesn’t get touched by either Joshua or Wilder. And yes Warren is a moron, Hearn would rather Joshua fights Fury now, right now Fury is vulnerable and this is the best time to fight him.
That is a good idea actually, Pulev, Ortiz etc Tyson Fury could fight opponents such as these fighters. But I disagree with the statement that Tyson Fury will not be touched by Anthony Joshua.
Who is Tyson Fury facing next? Yet again he seems to not want to have a immediate rematch a elite level. I am 100% certain that if Tyson Fury wants to fight Anthony Joshua, the fight would happen. People are delusion if you really think Eddie Hearn & Anthony Joshua are afraid of Tyson Fury.

It was even better watching it LIVE, not knowing what to expect at any given second. Watching the replay is not quite the same but is still amazing to watch. How Fury uses his height to avoid being hit, but is totally relaxed the whole time, allowing him to be faster and more instinctive in the heat of the battle. How Wilder lulls him into his shots and never stops trying to take his head off, missing him by inches, knowing that he's wide open for counters but crazy enough to do it anyway because he is fast enough to avoid most counters.
For those that understand the art of boxing, it was a master class on Fury's part, who had to be perfect for every second of every round and was peppering Wilder with beautiful combinations throughout the fight. Fury will take more chances in the rematch.
For those that love knockouts, Wilder finally gets to him in the 9th round and his double punch combo in the last round was nothing close to perfection. If you noticed, he was starting to figure out Fury's timing after the 8th round. Wilder will be a lot more fluid with his punches and won't miss him as much in the rematch.
The 12th round was timeless and will be watched for years to come. The knockdown was a candidate for KNOCKOUT of the year. Fury's shocking rise after not moving for 5 seconds and his brilliant comeback in the very same round makes it an easy favorite for Round of the year. Reminiscent of the 9th round of Gatti-Ward I and Shavers knockdown of Holmes in the 7th round of their rematch. Except Fury was down longer than Holmes and Fury was hit with a beautiful left hook as he was GOING DOWN!
That's the fight I saw...

What are you talking about? The fight itself wasn’t much to write home about. It was a chess, highly skilled fight with no a lot of punches landed by either boxer. Am not calling either fighters ability to fight into question. Am calling the actual fight horrible to watch.
I'm afraid you are right.I have watched it a few times and tried to get a little more excited but it ends always as you say.
