Rules are gonna be pretty simple.
Nominate the fighters who you think should be fighter of the year and please state a simple reason as why (fighters beat, belts won/retianed etc)
Posters with less than 500 post counts dont bother voting they will not be counted (unless of course all/most of your posts where in 2018 if you are a new account holder etc)
You can nominate up to 3 fighters and then we can count them up and put the top 5 in the poll starting on monday the 31st and that poll will run until that saturday the 5th of january or that sunday the 6th.
and Yes it is ok to nominate a fighter even if they only fought once in 2018

1. Usyk
Cleaned out the division, a tough division. Beat 3 good fighters all on their home turf.
2. Fury
Came off a big lay off and , in my opinion, beat a very dangerous fighter. Showed skill and heart.
3. Warrington
I thought he looked fairly comfortable in beating a world champ and former world champ in fights were he was the underdog.
Lucas Browne. started the year with a bad ko loss after turnning up like mr blobby he then make an incredable comeback starting with looking in the best shape of his career at an Ozzie stripclub weigh in and ending with a vicious knockout of David Tuas Cousin at the world renowed South Auckland Netball centre!
He had a great year. I'd term him Breakout Fighter of the Year. But I do rate Usyk's comp on a significantly higher level.
I actually like this differentiation.
Foty isn’t suggesting hooker is on the same level as usyk as a fighter. It’s just saying his year, relative to his level and the level of his opposition, should be celebrated. Same as usual should be celebrated.
I obviously think usyk had a great year.
It's a legitimate way of looking at FOTY... like most on here I'm seeing Usyk but if he hadn't have got the hell beat out of him I was thinking Dogboe for performing so far beyond expectations and you can make a similar claim for Warrington too. Hooker's one of my favourite dudes right now and you can make a similar case for him but I think he's held back a little by only having 2 fights and Saucedo not really being rated. I also got lil Ken Shiro too - assuming he wins on the 31st, hell Budler has a claim too if he gets his year end fight.
1. Tyson fury- no-one will ever come back from an alcohol and coke binge like he did to compete vs a top 2 fighter
2. Warrington- clearly beat selby and frampton
3. Usyk- became undisputed.
No Canelo after he beat the boogeyman GGG?

I have higher expectations for you. Usyk beat three quality fighters. I don't know much about Terry Flanagan but Alex Saucedo has some of the worst defense in the sport. Watching his fight vs. Lenny Z. The fact that Hooker got dropped by such a crude brawler is a bad look.

Yeah, you can't really look past Usyk. The WBSS is great because it truly reveals who the best fighters at a weight class are. Usyk beat Breidis and Gassiev this year, both of whom are very good, and Gassiev was seen as a killer - he himself was unbeaten having won his last fight against another very good opponent by brutal knockout, and was a unified champion as he went into his fight with Usyk. Usyk went to his backyard and didn't just beat him but utterly outclassed and humiliated him to become an undisputed champion - basically the boxing equivalent of a unicorn in this era. The big KO over Bellew - again, on the road - was just icing on the cake on what was already a FOTY-worthy 2018 campaign.
I think Warrington is the clearest runner-up, both Selby and Frampton are world class fighters, and he wasn't given much of a chance against either of them, but he beat them both decisively to really announce his arrival as a player.
I also thought Crawford has had a pretty good year. He utterly dismantled and destroyed Jeff Horn, and against Benavidez he was tested against a much taller undefeated fighter but showed why he was a complete fighter. Still, I think he's a somewhat distant runner up behind the previous two that I mentioned.
Usyk or Fury for me...
- Usyk for becoming undisputed, we need to see more of this
- Fury for bringing a bit of grit back to the heavyweight scene, again
Usyk for unifying against some strong and risky opponents and becoming undisputed champ at CW.
Loma for winning a title in a third weight class while defeating a true LW in Linares, a guy who Mikey avoided. Coming off surgery he handled a very game Pedraza who was at his very best. Unified titles.
GGG for KO'ing Vanes, a guy who Jermell went life and death with, and then for his "win" versus Canelo which was a clear robbery.
Honorable Mentions:
Navarette - fought and won four times this year, took Dogboe's title as a huge underdog.
Gvozdyk - showed everyone who the boss is at 175 with devastating title win over Stevenson.
You think Mo Hooker's year was equal to Usyk's?
I think winning 2 fights on the road as an underdog like hooker did is worthy of foty along with usyk winning 3 on the road all of which he was favored.
Why aren’t you asking anyone else that didn’t have usyk as foty?
should be between fury and usyk.
fury dropped near 150lbs and proceeded to school the WBC heavyweight beltholder in his first serious match after recovering from mental, drug, and weight issues.
It is Uysk!
He ran away with it IMO and destroying Bellew was just the Cherry On Top...

Runner Ups...
Mikey Garcia- Won a Belt at 140 vs Lipinets and unified at 135 vs Robert Easter
Canelo Alvarez- ARGUABLY beat GGG then moved up to 168 and destroyed Fielding to win a belt at 168
Deontay Wilder- Yeah not a fan of his style BUT Ortiz and Fury in 1 year? NOBODY challenged themselves more than Wilder this year like him or not
Maurice Hooker- Walked into guys back yards both Terry Flanagan and Alex Saucedo and won
Nobody gives a sh#t about smaller weight classes sadly but:
Naoya Inoue- Destroyed Jamie McDonnell and Juan Carlos Payano
